Was solicited by my car contractor car shield. They said if I dropped my current home contract by choice home warranty and went with armis they would give me a better rate and better coverage. Sounded good to have both home and car covered by the same *** So I switched. A month later my pool pump wore out and needed replaced. It was old and failed a few times before I bought the house. It was rusted on the out side of the pump casing so from a picture sent to armis for claim they denied it due to rust. The rust was there for the 3 years I owned the house and I bought it like that no problems till now. It needs a pump. The pump is old outdated and inefficient. You cannot buy the same pump now. Armis supervisor was contacted but was not very responsive or understanding. He was not very good at trying to take care of problem and had no people skills. When asked if I could speak to someone else he said it was him and no one else too bad.

    Business Response

    Date: 10/03/2022

Thank you for bringing this customers concerns to our attention and for the opportunity to respond.

As an initial matter, Armis does not sell contracts, insurance, extended warranties, or warranties. Sales of home service contracts ("***s") are handled by independent sellers, and Armis serves only to administer the repair claims.  In this instance, the customer purchased a month-to-month *** on August 21, 2022.  A copy of the customer's *** was provided to the customer shortly after purchase. The sales call and the first page of text encourage all *** holders to read their contract.  The *** has clearly stated coverage, benefits, and exclusions.  Customers who decide the *** is not right for them may be entitled to a refund.  Customers who choose to keep the *** are bound by its terms, as is Armis.

This claim was opened by the customer when he called AAS on September 6, 2022. The customer stated that the water pump in his pool was not working, and he was working with his own Service Provider (**)to get it repaired. On September 9, 2022, Armis requested that the ** send in a diagnosis and cause of failure for the pump. On September 13, 2022, the ** stated that the entire pump and motor needed to be replaced, and that the pump had been a long-term problem with numerous failures in the past years. Armis requested an invoice and pictures of the pump from the ** to verify whether the cause of failure was due to a preexisting condition, as the *** had been purchased less than a month prior. On September 20, 2022, Armis received the requested pictures and invoice. On September 22, 2022, Armis found that the pictures showed heavy rust and corrosion, and that the pumps seals had failed, allowing water into the unit. Armis requested records of the units previous repairs to verify what caused the seals to fail. If the cause of failure was corrosion, the repair would not be covered under the terms of the VSC.

As of September 26, 2022, Armis has not received the requested records. The claim cannot move forward without this information. If the customer submits the records of previous repairs to Armis then Armis will continue processing the claim. If the customer does not provide ********************** with these records, no further action will be taken.

With that stated, Armis is willing to resolve this dispute amicably and offers to instruct the seller of the *** to cancel the *** and fully refund to the customer the payments made for the ***.  This offer must be accepted within seven days of the filing of this response or the offer will be null and void.  The customer should accept this offer by writing the **************** at *********************************** or by responding to the BBB.

We trust the foregoing adequately addresses the issues raised in the complaint.  Please do not hesitate to contact our legal department at *********************************** if you have questions.
