I brought in my espresso machine the first week of December, had to follow up with them every few weeks because they didn't call me. They would say "oh yeah we were just about to call you". I spend over $1200 on the repair only to bring it home in March and have the exact same issue. It was supposed to be under warranty. It is now the end of April and they said they can't fix it but will give me a partial credit. I still don't have the espresso machine back. They said they will try to get to me this week. Oh again, I had to call each time about this and they keep asking for my patience. This is the WORST experience and I would warn everyone if I could.Initial Complaint

This place is a sham. Took in our vaccum because the handle was broken. It was an obvious fix: it just needed a new handled that could easily be ordered and screwed into the base. I asked them how much it would cost to fix and he said $150. The vaccum is hardly worth that much and you can buy a brand new one for slightly more, but I said sure let's do it, and paid the $150 up front. 10 days later they call me and say it will cost $230 MORE in labor to fix, plus $400 for the part. That's not what they told me when I paid $150 up front to have them fix the handle. It wasn't some sort of latent issue or hidden defect that needed to be diagnosed; it was an obvious fix that they gave me a price on, I agreed, and paid. Now they want not just more money, but WAY more than what we agreed up front, and WAY more than it costs to just order an entire new vaccum. In discussing this with the store manager, he hung the phone up on me. Complete joke of a company. Stay away from them at all cost.Initial Complaint

-On 12/2/24 I took my sewing machine to More Than Vacuums for a tune-up and needle repair. Told it would take 2 weeks & cost $143.17, which I paid -Sought update via text line on 12/09/24, no response -Called 12/15/24 & was told the machine hadnt been looked at -Received a call on 12/19/24 & was told repair would cost an extra $150. I declined because the machine is only worth $200 new. I asked for the tune-up cost to be refunded, they declined because the tune-up was done first- why do a tune-up before repair? They offered me store credit, I asked if they had Singer Heavy Duty & was told theyd check & get back to me, no response -Called 12/30/24 & was told they didnt have record of the store credit offer but that repair is $350. I asked why the cost had doubled & the tech told me it was worth it because itd be more expensive to buy new. Told him it was only a $200 ************ insisted I was wrong & should just pay for the repair- felt like he was trying to take ******************** me. I declined repair & asked about the store credit, he said he would get back to me but no response -Called again on 1/14/25 to ask about store credit, was told they would check & get back to me, no response -I called on 2/11/25 & asked if I could just pick up my machine. They said they didnt have it because I declined repair & authorized it for recycling. I did not authorize recycling, thats absurd I would pay $143.17 just to have my machine thrown away. The manager then said they were allowed to recycle my machine because it had been 2 months so it was abandoned. It took 17 days just to inspect the ********* there is a record of my follow-up calls, it was not abandoned. I told them I would take it to small claims court.-They called back & said they rescued it from the recycling pile but it was missing parts & needed extensive repairs for $70. I declined & again asked for a refund since my machine was now damaged, they refused but said I could come pick it up unservicedInitial Complaint

On Wednesday, October 9, 2024, I walked into More than Vacuums on Broadway in *********, *** to pick up a part. I first went to their store on ************** and the gentlemen there took a part off my Dyson upright vacuum cleaner, and taped the s**** on the plastic of the vacuum conatainer, I the vacuum container in a bag. The gentleman said that the part cannot be fixed but that I could pick up the part and install it myself. I went to the store on Broadway and ***** ******* was at the counter, I told him what I needed and, told him I just needed the part. ***** took the part to the back I asked him where the s**** was he said he didn't see it. Which I did. He took the vacuum to the back of his office. Another, gentlemen came back with the vacuum and the part was taken care of. At that time ***** rang up the charge and I see a ****** charge I asked him why was I having to pay this and why wasn't he transparent with me upfront, he said that was the charge. This is robbery to the consumer and he should not be able to get away this. It would have only taken 1 minute to take care of this myself. I feel since I was women going in there I felt he was taking advantage of me and I need your help. No one should have to pay such a fee for something the consumer could have done themselves.Customer Answer

We purchased a Miele Scout RX 2 Vision Robotic Vacuum on December 30,2023. Price of item was $674.99. Upon getting it home we discovered that the unit had been already used and the remote control was missing. We informed the store on January 2 and they asked us to bring it into their Englewood store and speak to manager *****. I brought unit in on January 4, ****, and was told by ***** that they do not give refunds and that it was the last unit they had and didnt think he could get another one as it was a 2023 model. The equivalent **** model may be available but he would have to check and we would have to pay difference. He asked that we leave the unit so he could look at it and offered to replace the brush to a new one and get another remote. He states he would also look at what options for another model would be. He never called back so I called on January 8 to see what was happening. He said they had diagnosed the unit and it was good as new. We accepted that this may be our only option but upon getting it home on January 16 it still had operational issues. We called and said we were unhappy and would like a refund and took unit back on January 18. told us that he would need to speak to **** the Gm and that we would get a call back within 24 hours. No one has called us back.Customer Answer

Hello, wanted to report that the business has agreed to exchange the vacuum for a brand new one. Can you please **** the case as resolved and inform the business that we will be withdrawing the complaint.
Thank you for your assistance, I do not believe that the final result would have been resolved without your intervention.
Best regards,

At no point in the transaction did he explain that all purchases were non-refundable Went to the store on 12/23/23 to return the item. I was not happy with the vacuum He said they have a non-refundable policy. He could not help me and his boss was gone until Jan 3, ****. They did not disclose this policy upfront, and said nothing about a restocking fee. Took my Dyson vacuum in for repair and paid a $60 deposit on a out august 8,2021 with the store telling me they were swamped and it would be maybe a month before they could repair machine. I called them on 9/21/2021 to see if it was fixed and they said no repair order had been written yet. I asked if they could issue repair order and call me with what it would cost and time it would take. They said they would and that was the last time I heard from them until I drove to their store at ************************************************************** August of 2021. Employee at store said that my vacuum probably had been recycled and I was just out a vacuum. I called store back on Wednesday 10/19/2022 to complain and ask why I was never called back on repair stating the fact I was the one who had to reach out to them and they never returned my call or updated me if repar wasn't possible. After arguing back and forth over their responsibility to honor written agreement they said they would search for a refurbished ***** or find me a shark as replacement. I don't want to buy a replacement vacuum from them I want my dyson back. I will have it repaired elsewhere. This whole experience smells like a scam. I am worried I will get no relief from them as neither me or my wife can find where we put the deposit/repair receipt. Is there anything you can do to help us get our dyson back? We are a retired couple who can't afford a loss like this. The store has a record of receiving machine and the deposit paid and all my information, but dispute that they never called me. I checked my phone and the only call made to that business was by me on 9/21/2021. They never even attempted to reach me. What I left them was the motor assembly with attached canister of a Dyson V8 absolute vacuum that's motor would surge and stop, surge and stop when trying to vacuum floor.Business Response

Yes, we were very swamped in August and September 2021. We were short of store employees as well as repair technicians: a couple had decided to stop working, a couple were out ill, and no one was answering our ads to hire new ones. We had many customers dissatisfied with our turnaround time, but we were very careful to call customers when their appliances were finished. Its impossible to tell a year later whether the customer gave us an incorrect phone number or email address, or just didnt see our contact attempts. In fall of 2021 we had many employees calling customers for the third and fourth times to come pick up their machines because they were piling up in our stores unclaimed and unwanted (more Covid fallout?).
It is true that a year later, August 2022, the machine would be gone. Our displayed policy says appliances will be discarded if not picked up in 30 days, but we actually wait longer than that and were waiting for several months in the fall of 2021. It was probably early ******************************************************************************** other machines. We actually had no liability to replace the abandoned machine eight or nine months later, but as a courtesy on 10/19/22 we offered to give the customer a ********************** of equal value. We dont understand why the customer wont accept this offer.
