After recently reviewing my credit report from your company, I noticed several inaccuracies that need to be addressed. The accounts in question are listed below:Company Name: CANVAS CU Account #: **********Balance: $3,652.00 Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (15 U.S.C. 1681g), I am formally requesting copies of all documents in your records that were used to verify the accuracy of these accounts. Please provide these documents in your response to this letter.I respectfully ask that you do not reply with a generic statement claiming the accounts have been verified. Instead, I expect to receive the actual records supporting this verification. If no such documentation exists, these disputed accounts should be removed from my credit report immediately, as required under Section 611(a)(5)(A)(i) of the FCRA.Including unverified or inaccurate information on my credit reportand continuing to share it with third partiesunfairly damages both my credit standing and my reputation. I ask that you take this matter seriously and resolve it as soon as possible.Business Response

This company is an absolute scam. I have been a long time member since 2009. Ive stayed current on everything until my checking account was accidentally used by someone else causing it to go negative. They sent this to collections instead of contacting me. I paid it in full and in return they closed all of my CURRENT credit card accounts completely demolishing my credit. I worked so hard to stay current on these accounts. I couldnt be more disappointed in the businesses practices here they arent ethical at allBusiness Response

Canvas Credit Union continues to knowingly garnish wages earned from the **************************based waiver programafter receiving a default judgment against me where their contracted process server (*** ******* of ********* Investigations) committed perjury by submitting a falsified sworn affidavit of service.According to IRS Notice ****** and ************************************** **************** waiver payments may be excludable from gross income if they are made to an individual care provider for an eligible person who lives with the provider. The services must be authorized by a ******** Home and Community-Based Services Waiver program - this is the exact program I am employed under as a Parent-as-CNA. Their collection agent, ****** Law Firm, is aware that the income they are collecting comes from this state-funded program but continues to rely on the default judgment (and subsequent motion to set aside that was denied without cause) to justify their unlawful actions. Canvas Credit Unions compliance officer has proven to be complicit with lies told on their behalf by recently recanting what was sworn to on the affidavit of service and changing the narrative to the process server saw her car parked outside her home-this contradicts the statement submitted to court saying that I refused service after the process server identified and made contact with me. (I have video surveillance showing I wasnt even home at the time). Canvas Credit Union and those they contracted with (****** Law Firm, ********* Investigations, et.all) continue to lie and disregard the law in their unethical actions. It is unfortunate that they are allowed to conduct business with such management and think they are above consequence.Business Response

****As of Dec. 2024 they are still refusing to correct the errors they are reporting to my credit report**** Back story: September 30 2016 I purchased a Vehicle from *********************. My purchase was financed the loan with Public Service Credit Union which was later acquired by and rebranded to Canvas CU . The following month a charge of almost 4 thousand dollars was ADDED to my loan for force placed insurance. that should NEVER have occurred as the vehicle was insured by progressive from the day it left the lot until summer of 2024 Canvas was aware of this as they received the full insurance Binder from Progressive prior to me taking possession of the vehicle on sept 30th 2016. I brought this error to Canvass attention an ungodly amount of times between November 2016 & August 2023 when the loan was paid off & closed Canvas refused to resolve this issue causing additional interest to accrue, extending payoff of the loan and damaging my credit by keeping the loan open based on a balance I did not owe, and then failing to REMOVE the negative reporting caused by their errors. The last time I went to the corporate office to discuss the issue & acquire documentation an assistant branch manager named: ***** ****** calling me a stupid b**** simply because I expressed it is ridiculous the way I have been treated & refused to leave until she presented proof the refund check had been credited & printed out the full loan payment & balance history. Canvas Credit union KNOWINGLY allowed this error to continue for 6 years, unduly increasing my balance & allowing additional interest to accrue thereby extending my payoff date & maliciously extracting additional funds from me, freezing & DRAINING my unrelated checking & savings accounts at several points AFTER when the loan would have been paid off without their error. Canvas credit unions errors, & callus refusal to fix them have caused me tremendous financial harm. I only recently became aware of BBB's ability to help.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: Canvas has been untruthful & knowingly flat out lied about their ability to speak with me directly. I spoke with Canvas Credit Union on January 30th 2025 @ 2:19pm MST. I can provide additional proof of that conversation (in addition to the screen shot I have attached here) if needed. Canvas Credit Union is attempting to deflect by bringing up a completely different and unrelated scenario in which I was unduly charged for force placed insurance. The scenario that they are referencing is UNRELATED to THIS SPECIFIC COMPLAINT. *The complaint I have filed here* is pertaining to canvas never removing all negative credit reporting that occurred as a result of their accounting errors and their inability/ lack of willingness to Correct those errors over the 6 years the loan was open. YES the accounting errors stem from a force placed insurance charge that was placed on my account one month after I financed a vehicle through them on Sept. 30th 2016. The insurance charges *they* are referring to are charges that were placed on the account between 2020 & 2023. Those charges are *Completely unrelated* outside of them being ADDITIONAL examples of Canvas attempting to manipulate the loan balance to keep the account open longer and further extract funds. Canvas DID NOT Attempt to speak to *THIS* COMPLAINT (Complaint # ********) IN ANY WAY let alone attempt to RESOLVE this complaint!I will again reiterate. A satisfactory SOLUTION would be the removal of all negative credit reporting associated with the above referenced auto loan and financial retribution for the damages that ensued as a direct result of Canvass negligence and mal practices. I will accept a refund of the FULL BALANCE paid over the course of the loan as an acceptable payment.
Sincerely,
***** ********Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:
I have already spoken with Canvas Credit Union since filing this complaint. I previously outlined in the prior rejection how they have been dishonest in their replies to the BBB stating they were unable to speak with me when in fact we HAVE spoken since this complaint was filed. Canvas is CONTINUING to deflect by referencing charges that were NOT mentioned in this/ the original complaint! Canvas needs to *REMOVE All negative credit reporting* associated with the auto loan as it is their error in accounting that has caused severe damage. As for a refund , The only refund Canvas should be referencing at this point is THE FULL BALANCE paid between September 30th and August 2023 when the loan was paid in full. I am not referring to insurance charges I am referring to the FULL LOAN BALANCE. That is what I will accept as an acceptable refund given the amount of damage they have caused, the length to which I have suffered financially as a result, for the hundreds of man hours I have spent trying to resolve and rectify the issues their errors have caused and for being verbally assaulted by Canvas Credit Union assistant branch manager ***** ******Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:
canvas is saying the complaint has been addressed. IT HAS NOT. This complaint is in regards to negative credit reporting that stems from canvas accounting errors. The complaint has been clear & concise from the beginning. Canvas has not addressed the concern of erroneous derogatory credit reporting AT ANY POINT in ANY of their responses. Canvas continues to ignore the STATED ISSUE while continuing to attempt to deflect and shift the narrative of the conversation to a topic I never mentioned in this complaint! Canvas needs to remove the negative credit reporting associated with the account as it ONLY EXISTS as a result of their accounting errors. It is very simple.Sincerely,

I leased a car 5years ago and the dealership used Canvas. This August I was in an accident and my car was considered a total loss. I immediately told Canvas. Then after my car was considered a total loss I informed them I began working on Gap Coverage and asked if they could work with me as I dont know too many people who continue to pay on a car they no longer have. I did all of the Gap myself I had to request the police report and get paper work from the dealership and paper work from Canvas. These things take time. Canvas continued to charge me for a car that I told them was a total loss. They never requested paper work or tried to work with me at all. I called numerous times and was told Gap Coverage doesnt take this long. Finally I had everything the only thing I was missing was my loan history from THEM. I asked and they sent me the wrong thing so the hold up was Canvas. Gap covered everything except for the late fees that Canvas continually charged me. Now Im gaining interest everyday because I dont have ***** dollars to give them. The only way they said theyd work with me and stop charging weekly interest is if I signed up for a new loan to pay off the *****. Theyve been IMPOSSIBLE TO WORK WITH. I told them I work ***** on weekdays and then they ******* me with calls (during work hours) then leave me on hold forever when I finally have a chance to call back to a point where I cant wait and have to hang up and go back to work. They will call and then hang up and then send an email saying they called. I ended up signing up for the loan like they said and Im still being charged interest because they havent accepted the loan. I want them to explain the charges. Explain why they wouldnt work with me when I told them I was getting gap and it takes time. I want them to explain why they didnt accept the loan application THEY MADE ME SIGN UP FOR. Explain why theyre still charging me, when I did what they said (even though I cant afford another loan).Business Response

Purchased Vehicle on 1/13/23 from AutoNation 2013 ***** Equinox 1LK LT **** ***************** (******ml. On 1/23/24 the engine blew I took it back 2 Auto Nation who had the Vehicle until 5/31/23. I made my 1st two payments of $259.53 2/27/23 and 3/27/23. Fell behind due to loss of my job that required a vehicle. 5/2023 I started a new job I had been in touch with Canvas on several occasions. 6/2/23 I spoke with ********* Sup for Canvas made arrangements to pay in full on 6/9/23 bring my acct current, on 6/3/23 they repo it. The recovery cost started at $1053.77 ended at $1827.77 as charges continued to be added hook up fee towing fee late fees. I couldn't come up with that in time on 6/5/23 a letter that the vehicle sold with no $ amount private sale. On 11/14/23 another letter with the owing amount of $12724.84 and sold at auction for $3122.00 balance owed is $10234.06. On 8/4/23 they sold the vehicle at the Auction for $7195.00 and on 11/14/23 they sold it again as a salvage title for $3122.00 after it was wrecked still canvas being the lien holder. There is a diff of $3199.32 in my purchase price paper work. They have already collected $14034.32 for the vehicle and want another $9000 from me $23034.32 will be there total recovery in the end. They lied about the 1st sale date of 8/4/23 $7195 saying the 1st sale date was 11/10/23 $3122. How much did it sale at a private sale on 6/15/24 they never disclosed.Business Response
