      On July 14, 2023 I had my routine 6 month cleaning performed, during this exam I was told I needed antibiotic injections due to some buildup. At NO time was I advised it was or could potentially not be covered by my insurance. Fast forward to my filling appointment on August 26, 2023, upon check out I went to pay my quoted amount of 81.00 and was broadsided by a large bill from July's visit. I had never received a bill so this was a shock to me, so much so that Danielle the receptionist could see me visibly shaking at the news. I paid the amount due for that day and asked to allow me to call my insurance the following Monday. Danielle also advised she would follow up with her supervisor due to the circumstances of me not being informed that these antibiotic injections were not covered. I called my insurance the following Monday, August 28th and was told to have them send to medical for processing. Today, September 15th I received my FIRST bill for the July balance. I immediately reached out to Danielle at Dental associates who advised medical processing was pending and to disregard. This proved untrue as medical has not been billed for the July date of service. I was also apparently overcharged for the August date of service as per my EOB I only owe 51.00 while I paid 81.00 - the overpayment has not been brought to my attention and had I not gone to review the claims in July with my medical I would have never known a refund for the difference was due to me. I am horrified and have attempted to resolve this respectfully however I am not being provided with truthful information. The billing department should really be investigated. I am at a total loss over the lack of information provided as well as the lack of truth in any information I have been given. I have never authorized services to be performed that were not covered by my insurance. This is now the 3rd billing issue with this office, the first was misinformation for coverage and an estimate for my spouse.

      We do inform patients that their out of pocket expense is an estimate and that their Insurance does not always pay for services that we are told will be covered. The situation that occurred is unfortunate and it is our standard of practice to inform patients of non covered procedures. We have honored what she was told at the time of the appointment and have adjusted her account balance accordingly to $0.00.

      At NO TIME was I ever advised that the services being performed, the antibiotics that were administered during my cleaning, were a non-covered service. I pay up front for all services performed that are not covered, I was advised of the 80.00 charge for the filling appointment which was paid upon checkout. Today, Melissa advised me that the overpayment from that service was applied to the outstanding balance, again without my knowledge OR consent. The billing practices of this location are significantly flawed and need to be investigated. I advised this to Melissa during today's call and all that I got from her was a generic response and a generic apology. We won't be returning due to the number of issues we have experienced with the billing department. She was not even aware that no one had called me, and I advised her I found it incredibly odd that the same day I got an email regarding my open issue with BBB they call me to resolve the problem. It was only when they became aware of my complaint with the BBB that I mattered.
