Hello, We contracted with Irie Energy to design/install a complete heating/air conditioning system. We relied on the owner Ryan to properly plan/design and execute. During the job we agreed to eliminate the addition of air conditioning to one section of the living room as it would have been a lot of time working and cutting. Towards the end of the install we discussed with Ryan adding ac/heat to our master bathroom and Ryan agreed. He said he could not be responsible for the cutting of the hole into the bathroom floor so we hired and paid an additional contractor who made the cut based on Ryan's direction. At no point did Ryan ask for us to pay extra for this master bath add on, including at the time of billing. Had he asked for extra we would have had a conversation and most likely agreed to pay even though we felt that it would have been unfair since some of the other work had been eliminated and we were never offered a credit for that. We considered withholding some payment until the job in the master bath was done but felt comfortable enough with Irie Energy to take the risk and proceeded to pay the full invoice $16,800 within a day of receiving. This was in mid august of 2023. As days and weeks passed I would politely call Ryan who kept agreeing to complete the job and gave me at least 2 different appointments that he never showed up for. After his most recent no show/no call I texted him and received a verbal attack saying that we added on to the job and the implication was that he would not be returning. We have spoken with multiple heating/ac contractors whom indicated that the lack of heat in a master bathroom is a MAJOR design flaw by Irie Enery. We only ask for this part of the job to be completed, it just doesnt seem fair that we would need to now hire yet another contractor when this should have been incorporated into the initial project.

I was hired to replace equipment on an existing forced air system that already had existing duct work throughout home. There was no design on my end involved due to duct work being in place for many years, possibly since 1968. As part of our original deal, **** had requested to add one supply run in hallway (which I did) and one in living room (which I did not do). Due to the extensive work involved in adding living room run, we decided to add supply run in main bathroom (which I did). Adding supply run in master bathroom, was not part of our deal and was something that **** casually added in. Just because **** feels like he paid a lot of money (and he did) does not mean he can add in addition work at original cost. There was no MAJOR design flaw on my end. If there was a MAJOR design flaw you will assume flaw would have been corrected since 1968. Also, you would assume that a home inspector would have picked up on this design flaw (since **** just purchased home). I am the one who pretty much took all the financial risk. Out of trust, I did not require **** to give me a deposit of any kind. Due to this, I expected payment after completion of the job as originally discussed. I did not receive payment at that time and waited two weeks until I emailed **** an invoice (which he promptly paid). For two weeks **** had a brand-new HVAC system that he did not pay for. During this time, his house was completely conditioned during hot humid weather with no issues. My fault in this whole situation was that there was no signed contract. Every single one of my business deals has been a handshake deal. Thanks to the valuable business lesson I have learned from ****, there will no more handshake deals, and I have mailed **** a $500 refund check. Mailed 10/21/2023 and he should receive by 10/25/2023 the latest.
