I have had NLC for my homeowners insurance in my current residence for 5 years without ever filing a claim. I had them in my previous residence for 5-10 years and never filed a claim. My homeowners renewal came up this January and it was a 40% increase which I find outrageous. I can see 10-20% at best but 40% is not understandable. They did not give a dignified response that was acceptable but yet we as consumers have no choice because we have to have insurance. Companies like this are making it very difficult for people who would like to retire someday and live in their homes.

We Have Held A Contract With NLC Insurance Companies Homeowners For 33 Years On 3 Homes!
In April Of 2024 Our Home Sustained Significant Wind Damage Causing Shingles To Be 100 Feet From The House On The Lawn. Not Entire Sections But 5x5, Inch Shingle Sections! I called 3 Roofing Companies For Estimates, And Upon Inspection They Said I Had Significant Wind Damage And Missing Shingle, Sideways Shingles Etc. And That Home Owners Would Replace The Roof!
I Called NLC and An Agent Was Assigned That After A Few Weeks Came With A Drone Pilot To Do An Inspection Then Nothing! The Roofer Is Calling Me Asking What's Going On Because The Roof Is Going To Start Leaking And With This Concern, I Call NLC And Get That My Claim Is Processing. For Weeks!
I Am Told By (Public Adjuster) - (Attorneys) Not To Go Ahead And Replace The Roof Myself Or That NLC Will Deny The Claim!
Now, Yesterday 8/6/2024 I Get A Letter From ******* * ********** %NLC That Any Leak Damage Caused By My Negligence?
Now A House 3/4 Of A Mile With A Different Insurance Company Also Sustained Wind Damage On The Same Date/Same Storm And The Home Owner Showed Me The Contract! The Roof Was 100% Replaced At A Cost Of 1,000 Deductible, No Drone Pilots, No Attorneys And Roof Was Replaced In Just A Few Weeks! Happens To Be My Mothers Neighbor.
Now Yesterday I Spoke To My Public Adjuster That My Attorney Got For Me And When I Mentioned NLC He Knew Right Away That My NLC Agent (Dianne L****) Was Looking To Either Deny The Claim Or Try To Provide Band-Aids! We Are Not Paying Premium Payments For Premium Coverage For Band-Aids. The Roof Is Only 16-17 Years Old And A 40 Year Shingle With Ridge Vents Gable End Vents, Soffit Vents And The Most Expensive Product Available At The Time Of Professional Installation!
I Am The Contract Holder But The Home Owner Is 86 Years Old Are We Responsible To Put Up Tarps To Prevent Water Damage While They Continue (The Processes)
    I Have Mental Illness
