Warning: Predatory Towing – Avoid MyHoopty LLC at All Costs
I’m sharing my experience to warn others about the deceptive and predatory practices of MyHoopty LLC, a towing company operating in Connecticut.
    Here’s what happened to me:
    • They used a voicemail I left to falsely claim I don’t have authorization to stop a tow however they claim if we make contact with them they won’t tow a vehicle even if it doesn’t meet the full terms and conditions.
    • When I confronted them, they passed the responsibility to the building management, avoiding all accountability.
    • After I paid the towing fee, they delayed returning my vehicle and only told me after the fact that it was placed in a “shuttle” location—something not mentioned on any receipts or paperwork.
    • Shockingly, this “shuttle” fee was more expensive than the initial tow, and again, I was given no prior notice or written explanation.
    • When I questioned these practices, they told me they had a “sophisticated system” and accused me of lying—despite me having recorded the entire phone call, which I strongly advise others to do.
This company’s tactics are dishonest and possibly unlawful. If you’ve been affected, here are steps you can take to fight back and hold them accountable:
    1. File a Complaint with the CT Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV):
    Visit: https://portal.ct.gov/DMV
Search for “Towing Complaint” and submit your report online.
    2. Report to the CT Attorney General’s Office (Consumer Protection Division):
    Website: https://portal.ct.gov/AG
    4. Leave detailed reviews on Google, Yelp, and other platforms to warn others and document your experience publicly.
    Tips for others:
    • Always record your conversations with towing companies like this.
    • Demand all charges and terms in writing before making payment.
    • Document everything—screenshots, calls, voicemails, texts.
Report to if the pricing is off for price gouging. Let’s shut em down

Wife park in front of building to walk old lady in left car running since she was coming back within the minute. In hartford. To install dolly for all wheel drive take more than a minute. Even people telling the tow guys she's coming back he went ahead and towed car.
She did park illegally I give you that. But you towed a car that was still running. I'm assuming on 2 wheels because it was to fast to install dolly. Damages will come later since they not Goin to show up right away.
U guys would not release car since I had forgotten to re-register the car I understood and work all day to register it but kicker is that needed to go through emissions which you kindly offer to do it great. But car towed before 10 you guys run it after 3 find patience is a virtue I can see pass the wait.
But your words was hurry because you u close at 415 . I say you serious I'm waiting all day for you  guys now I have to hurry.  word (it is what it is ) I was ok what ever . Got on it ready to go 330 called you was sending wife in Uber another 40 dollars but since your 45 minute away I called and ask because she was going to get there 5 or 10 minutes after 415 can't predict trafic one of your guys said it's cool just come. All right  let's go. Wife got there 432 who ever met her said you guys close at at 430 we had to pay another 50 dollars for after hours. For 2 minutes. I offer guy 20 if waive the fee he said he waive storage fee all ready. I guess thank you. Beginging   guy verry condensing toward Uber guy after 5 minutes I guess calm down. I understand with different kind of people you guys deal with but not all of us are bad apples.
I dont understand why a hartford complex have you towing all the way to oackdale the miles at 5 $ brings bill 160 right away.
420 was ballance 125 hook up 20 emissions thank u 50 after hours fee around 25 tax that leaves 200 in miles 29 miles first 2 free
    200 ÷27 =7?? A mile
Is my math wrong can't look at charges did not give me receipt .
Not saying bad or good. You guys decide

Towed my car illegally!! I was visiting my friend at his apartment complex. I parked in a visitor spot, and they towed my car...from a visitor spot... Charged me $300 in cash to release it. When I asked the reason why it was towed they said because it was parked "head in".

This place does not even deserve 1 star. My son was in a single car accident on 2/13/24 during a major snow storm. He suffered no injuries (Thank God) and called AAA. When the State Police arrived, the officer said that he dispatched out "his plow guy". Despite my son telling the officer that AAA was 10 mins away, his "plow guy" showed up. Without asking my son where he wanted the car to be towed to, he was informed by the tow driver that it "had to go to his yard" and be looked at. He then dropped my son off at a nearby Cumberland Farms and told him to "figure out a way home and have a hot cup of coffee". My son asked how much (estimate) this would cost, and the drivers response was "I dont know". I then had to travel 25 miles in the snow storm to get my son left stranded at a Cumberland Farms.
I also called MyHoopty to let them know that I did not want the car to "be looked at", that we would make arrangements to have the car picked up. The very rude man John told me he would not release the car unless it was looked at and proceeded to say "look lady, we are in the middle of a snow storm right now, I can't deal with you" I wished him a great day- and hung up.
Fast forward to 2/14/24- called to inquire about the car. My son was told it would cost him 800.00 to release the car. The kicker CASH ONLY. Despite their website stating that they accept all credit cards. When questioned about the discrepancy, the very rude John said "listen lady that's just our policy.
Arrives to pick up car- refused at the door because they were "about to leave for lunch" My son had to wait over an hour for them to finish their own lunch to get his car back (that was completely drivable by the way)
So, here how this is legal. Apparently, there is not a state law with a "cap" to charge for labor. WIth that, Myhoopty scams customers to pay an outrageous amount of money- CASH ONLY. My son pays for AAA and showed up 10 mins after myHoopty did but was refused by the officer and tow driver.

I recently had my car towed home after it sat at his place of business in a fenced in area with no trespassing sigs.My car was ransacked and my tools we stolen and all he could say to me it was not his responsibility and I was out of luck.I know it took the thieves some time to get at and find all the tools that were taken so I honestly think it was him or one of his workers ..just sad. I've lived in town my whole life and know quite a few people in town and this business has a horrible reputation I wish I had neve used his services.

This place really sucks. These people have no business being in business. I have to agree with the one star reviewers. Horrible experience, I almost want to move from where I'm living as long as the landlord is contracted with these poor mindless indecent shells of human beings. Very rude and nasty. I really tried to not give a star at all, that's how awful this business is. They really stressed me out, caused me more money than the 336.00 in cash I had to pay. I haven't been staying at my home since this incident; worried they may tow my car at any given moment. I haven't been able to sleep at home because I'm always checking to see if my car has been towed or not. Then, they are rude on the phone, very condescending and purely awful. These people has caused me so much emotional distress.

Let me start by saying, there is a special place in **** for a fake reverend that makes a fortune victimizing the poor, My Hoopty's owner, Michael ***** take pleasure in all things that target poor black and brown people. He regularly comes to our complex (********* *******) . He has a deal with the owner *** ******** to terrorize his tenants and retaliate against them when needed by towing their cars. He has actually hit me with his tow truck.
The Landlord he does all the work for owns roughly 90 properties in CT alone.
he sent an awful, sexually explicit email to my wife that i couldn't post here but would send with all the awful, racist stuff he posted on ******** when John Lewis, the civil rights leader, died.
    feel free to contact me.
