-5 ****** ******* is garbage and customer service is horrendous. They make you jump through a series of hoops to close your account and provide even more excuses as to why they cant close your account. If you have money invested with them get it out. If your employer utilizes Mission Square ask them to change companies. Mission Square doesnt like to tell you this but you can get your money out if you are under $5000 and stop contributing for two years. Ask for a Small Balance Distribution Form. Youll have to submit it at least a dozen times and argue with them over the phone. Six months after closing the account Im still waiting on the balance.

This is the most difficult company to deal with. It took me weeks to organize my *** distributions with one person after another giving me different information. I have a retiree health savings account with them and can literally not contact anyone regarding designating a beneficiary or processing claims. They run you thru a phone chain and then say the circuits are busy. Put your money somewhere else if you expect appropriate communication and efficiency regarding your money

My wife passed in November 2023. We both have our individual "401K/IRA" accounts. I have notified Mission Square {now Icmarc) about my wife's passing, Mission Square sent me a mail notice that I am listed as the beneficiary, in my wife's will which has been submitted to Mission Square by everybody listed as heirs of her assets.
Today I called Mission Square to get an update and this customer service agent said that I had to send in a verification of death because she couldn't see anything on her computer that this had been done.
almost every time, about 6 times, I have made phone contact about this it is the same lady answering or calling back and she does not seem to recognize that I have already done this. Once I got connected with a male person who was much more helpful

Customer service is incompetent and abysmal. I've spent hours of my life on hold waiting to speak to a representative just so they can make promises to send necessary forms that I never see in the end. Endlessly frustrating that this company holds my parent's life savings. They can't stop knocking their heads together running around how to figure out how to grant me access to control these funds after I already jumped through all of these hoops with ICMA. Once I finally get granted access I'm absolutely going to look into moving the money.

If there was a zero that’s what I would give!
Trying to transfer IRA to local bank. We were told it couldn’t be done. On a later call we were told money was liquidated to cash. Since I started process unable to gain access to my account. Recent call was disconnected and sent to survey.
They just do not want to transfer monies to bank.

They sent checks that should have been sent to my mother’s beneficiaries, myself and my brother to her estate. Why? No clue. Had to call them about 10 times and explain it over and over for them to understand and admit their mistake. Now getting them to fix it and make it right? Another 20 calls and hours on hold. Rude customer service. Can’t speak to management, get hung up on. Like I want to deal with this after losing a parent. It’s unreal how horrible they are.

As everybody knows the interest rate has increased at least two or three times in the last couple of years and I would like to know why your company is paying such a small percentage of the interest, however, the all fees are too high!
Due to the unpredictability of the stock market, I do not want to put my money in mutual funds or stocks because my retirement is soon enough.
Also, I cannot remove money and purchase in other finance companies' certificates of deposit, due to possible punishment from the IRS.
In conclusion, I would like to say that the old company ICMARC.ORG was much better.

After switching jobs 3 months ago and going from John Hancock to Mission square I am STILL trying to rollover my funds as much as I really do not want Mission Square handling my retirement account. NO ONE will call you. Their website opens up in three different windows and can't send a simple message with attachments. I wish I had another choice but I don't.

I called the emergency line to withdraw my funds and have them wired to my account. I was told they could add my bank and send payment relatively quickly. I made a few phone calls and filled out the appropriate paperwork. After a few days of not seeing my money deposited by the time I needed it, I called and they said someone sent a check instead. Emergency line did zero help, quite the opposite. It went from a few days to two weeks and really made things hard on me.

These guys were my only option as the city 401k representative. While working, I could make easy appointments and the rep was responsive. After I retired I have tried contacting by phone and email and have received no response. I will be pulling my money out of this account and moving to Ameriprise. The rep, Sonia couldn't care less about us retired folks.
