Similar to others who put reviews against scam-likely actions of this business, our company has been targeted by individuals claiming to be LegalHoop employees, sending what are evidently scam emails. Today, we called the number listed for LegalHoop. They said they haven't sent us any emails, while we have their unsolicited and suspicious emails in both our personal as well as the company's email addresses. This raises serious concerns about this business's legitimacy and potential scam activity. The emails have been sent via [service[at]*************************] and [info[at]**************************]. After blocking those in our personal email addresses, similar emails began arriving at our company email address. We never signed up to get those scam emails from LegalHoop. We have no relationship with LegalHoop and have never done business with them. We have no intention to do business with ********. There is no unsubscribe link or clear way to stop the emails. Besides, the pattern and content of such emails raise serious concerns about potentially deceptive or scam-like practices. We are filing formal complaints with the BBB and also the appropriate consumer protection agencies [************************ (***) and the ***************************************************************************] to report this activity and prevent further targeting of other individuals or businesses.

    Hi team,

After I searched the records, I can not find any records that we've sent promotional emails to ************************************* before, and there is no record shows that this compliant has ever called our ONLY customer number: ************. Sometimes, clients are too angry to call the wrong number and then became more angry.

If this client's personal or work email addresses are wrongfully affected by our email campaign, we need to know the correct email address to solve the problem. So I need your help to forward this message to this complaint in case my email might be blocked by him.

In fact, every marketing email we sent contains an unsubscribing link at the bottom of the email content, clicking it is a more effective way than block our domain names. Opt-out mechanism is the top priority of our duty, we understand the CAN-SPAM Act very well. This compliant and the previous compliant both calumniated us as "scammer", if we are scammer, how can we maintain this business website (**************************) since 2016?

If we are scammer, why don't we charge inflatted fees of legal services to maximize our short term revenue?

If we are scammer, why the *** or any court never issued punishment to us?

We offer same quality legal services with only half of the price comparing those who run ****** Ads, our paid clients understand the value we deliver. To those who don't, simply click the unsubscribing link instead of blocking our domain names.

The previous compliant can suspect us as "scammer" without providing any substantial evidence despite I requested it in my response, it's a very bad beginning, the current and the future compliants will keep calumniating us as "scammer" too. This trend has to be fight back and be punished despite I understand it will takes a lot of time. If BBB don't delete all those baseless speculation, that means your platform allow this kind of words, I will use the same strategy too.

This scammer is still sending us scam emails. They don't care what BBB or the innocent customer said.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 05/23/2025

Attached are four emails we got from this SCAMMER company. We got the exact same emails on our personal email addresses (in total 12 emails), and all these **** the SCAMMER said was false and misleading. I have never seen such a rude SCAMMER who SPAMvertising and claiming to be innocent. We don't care who they are and what they do. What is important is that we have never ever given any consent to this SCAMMER to send us SCAM emails. That's very simple. What the content of their response shows is that they are extremely mad cause they would not expect that someone might file a complaint against their SCAM activities. If no one has ever complained, that does not mean this SCAMMER is innocent. We all know that in the court, there is a settlement conference, and almost all SCAMMERs try to settle the dispute. If we ever receive one more email from this SCAMMER, we will be the one who takes them to court and punishes them for their SCAM activities. This SCAMMER was looking for evidence. Well, I attached all pieces of evidence. Now, let's see what this SCAMMER says. Most probably someone else has sent all these emails and this SCAMMER would only blame BBB for escalating this matter !!!!!!!!!!! Note that the reviews on BBB show that on 09/18/2023 and 08/05/2023, other people had the exact same problem, and this SCAMMER used to send them scam emails. That's pathetic.

Despite raising the issues with illegal activities of this ****MER company and responding multiple times, they again sent emails to both our personal and business email addresses. There is no way to get rid of the **** activities of this ****MER company. We decided to file a complain against this ****MER to the Office of Attorney General.

************************** Fraud Alert: An individual using the alias "****** *******," claiming to be a ***** attorney, contacted me regarding my trademark, stating it was at risk. He requested personal details to "expedite" the solidification process. I provided my ID, personal information, and bank details as instructed. However, when I later asked for proof of his affiliation with the *****, I discovered he had used a "ghost site" mimicking the official ********* website, complete with what appeared to be a legitimate ***** domain in the address bar. A ****** search initially suggested the site was authentic, but it was not. While this scheme was sophisticated, it was ultimately deceptive. Two days later, I received a letter from ************************** claiming my trademark had been "approved," despite never having any dealings with them. My information had been stolen, and ************************** is now under suspicion of potential involvement. I have filed complaints with the ***, IC3, and *****, seeking an immediate resolution. The individual suspect contacted me using the phone numbers ************** and **************, claiming to be an IP examiner affiliated with the ***** by the alias "****** *******" or "****** *.". Another suspect, allegedly working alongside him, is named "***** ********.". There is reason to believe that this organization may be connected to these two individuals. We are actively skiptracing and tracking while pursuing full restitution for damages as we continue our ongoing investigations in this matter. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in court of law, so as it stands, we are working diligently with law enforcement agencies who are looking closely into this matter.

    Business Response

    Date: 03/09/2025

    1. We do not have any employees named "****** *******" or "****** *." or "***** ********.", we never ask clients for *** nor bank informations, and we do not have a "ghost site" looks like ***** site.

    2. We do sent you an email this week with the title ************************************************* trademark protection for your trademark (Serial#:*********", in this email there is no content saying that your trademark has been approved. Instead, it stated that your trademark has been FILED to the *****, if you'd like to extend your trademark to foreign countries, you have 6 months of time to claim the priority based on your initial U.S. application. The information we sent to you is absolutely correct, with no miss leading, you can confirm it with the *****.

    3. Your trademark information is public on the ***** site: ******************************************************************************************************************************

We, like many other competitors collected your email address at the column of "Attorney/Correspondence Information" from the above URL. If you don't want receive email from us, there is a subscribing link at the bottom of that email.

    4. Although I understand you are anxious and might be suspicious about anything after being scammed, there is no reason to connect us with the scammers without any substantial evidence. Defaming our business repudation online will jeopedize our daily running, I hope you can get your head straight after calming down, and adjust the improper wording "************************** Fraud Alert" at the beginning of your review which is solely based on your suspicion. We do hope you can lock the scammers and get your justice at the end and we are open to cooperate in the investigation with any government agencies with full respect.

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed as Answered]

     Complaint: 23016852

I am rejecting this response because:

Thank you for your response. However, several key concerns remain unaddressed, and your reply raises further questions about your business practices. For full transparency, we will respond to your statements point by point.

    1. The Unexplained Use of an Unrelated Email Domain (************)

You have admitted to sending us an email regarding our trademark filing. However, the email was not sent from an address associated with **************************. Instead, it originated from *************************** a domain that does not exist as a functional website.

    Serious concerns remain unanswered:

    - Why was the email sent from a domain unrelated to **************************?
    - If LegalHoop is a legitimate business, why use an offsite email address rather than a verifiable one tied to your company?
    - Are you operating under multiple domain names to avoid scrutiny?
    - If this was simply an internal issue, you should be able to clearly explain why this occurred. Instead, your response completely ignores this critical question.

    2. The Misleading Nature of Your Emails Content

You claim that your email only stated that our trademark was "filed" and did not say it was "approved." However, this completely misses the point.

The issue is not just what was said, but how it was presented.

    - Your emails language and formatting could mislead filers into believing you were involved in the process.
    - The urgency and push for international filing services creates the impression that immediate action is required, which is not true for most filers.
    - Many entrepreneurs are unfamiliar with these tactics, and your approach exploits this knowledge gap.
    - Your response does not clarify how you ensure filers are not misled, nor does it address why your services are framed as an urgent necessity.

    3. Unethical Solicitation of Trademark Filers Without Attorneys

You openly admit to scraping contact information from the ***** database and targeting filers without attorneys. While you attempt to justify this by saying that many competitors do the same thing, that does not make it ethical.
    ?? Concerns with this practice:

    - Many filers do not understand international trademark law and could be misled into paying for unnecessary services.
    - By framing your services in an urgent manner, you pressure filers into making quick, uninformed decisions.
    - Cold-contacting filers without consent raises questions about whether you are operating within legal marketing practices.

    Clarification is needed:

    - What is your policy on transparency when soliciting trademark filers?
    - How do you ensure that entrepreneurs understand that your service is completely optional and not required?
    - If your business is truly ethical, you should have no issue publicly clarifying these points.

    4. The Threat to Modify Our BBB Complaint (Unacceptable Response)

    Your statement:

"I hope you can get your head straight after calming down, and adjust the improper wording '************************** Fraud Alert' at the beginning of your review."

This response is highly unprofessional and concerning.

    - A professional company does not respond to concerns with personal insults or by questioning the complainants mental clarity.
    - Instead of addressing the issue with factual explanations, you are attempting to intimidate and silence criticism.
    - If your companys practices are fully ethical, why would you feel threatened by an honest complaint?
    - If you believe our concerns are factually incorrect, the appropriate response would be to present evidencenot to dismiss them as baseless suspicion.

    5. Potential Trademark Hijacking and Exploitative Contracting

Your business model closely aligns with known IP exploitation schemes, where trademark service providers:

    - Offer unnecessary filing services at excessive costs.
    - Use fine-print contracts to obtain partial or full ownership of trademarks.
    - Exploit the fact that many business owners do not read the fine print before signing.

    Serious Questions That Need Answers:

    - Does LegalHoop require power-of-attorney or ownership assignment as part of its filing services?
    - Can LegalHoop guarantee that it has never claimed ownership over a clients trademark?
    - What protections do you have in place to ensure entrepreneurs do not accidentally sign away control of their intellectual property?
    - Until these concerns are fully addressed, we strongly advise other entrepreneurs to exercise extreme caution when engaging with LegalHoop or similar services.

    6. Final Requests for Transparency and Accountability

Given the ongoing concerns, we formally request that:

    - LegalHoop publicly explains its email domain practices and why it used "************" instead of its official domain.
    - LegalHoop clarifies its policies on ownership rights and legal protections to prevent trademark hijacking.
    - The BBB investigates LegalHoops solicitation practices to determine whether they are engaging in deceptive marketing.
    - LegalHoop issues a professional, non-dismissive response addressing these issues instead of attempting to silence criticism.

Until these matters are fully addressed, we will proceed with formal complaints to the *****, FTC, and additional legal authorities to ensure proper scrutiny of your business practices.

    Sincerely,
    Regards,

    ***** ****** Jr

They are misrepresenting themselves as Trademark Engine to try to get me to sign up with them and continue to spam me even after I have unsubscribed.

    Business Response

    Date: 09/03/2024

We never misrepresent any other parties but we send all advertising in the name of Legalhoop only. And we never spam anybody after they unsubscribe. I just found that this client used the trademarkengine's privacy email. Trademarkengine's support emailbox will forward all emails sent to the privacy emailbox to the client's email box in the name of Trademark Engine, without the original sender's name. That's possibly why the client thought the email was sent by the Trademark Engine.  That's not our fault, but it's the fault of the privacy emails.

I have tried calling this company several times at ************* in which I had to ****** because your number is not on your website nor listed in the email that was originally sent as false advertisement. Your company did not provide me any services with my trademark and I was also advised by trademark engine in which I have for services that this is perhaps a false advertisement and that they are not affiliated with your company. I was also advised by the ***** office to watch for these type of companies which could be a scheme. No one from this company has returned any of my calls or responsed to my email stating that you never provided any services and that I advised you that I would be disputing this fee of $249.00 dollars that you charged my card for no services. I did not complete any services with your company and your telephone number goes right to a voicemail.

    Business Response

    Date: 01/15/2025

Because there are so many inquiries sent to the support team, they may ignore the notifications sent from BBB. For example, for Complaint ***********, we missed the BBB response deadline, the fact is not that the consumer said, she did raise a dispute to her bank for a $249 payment on Jan 28th, but we submitted evidence to counter dispute at the same day, and her bank finally resolved the dispute in our favor! Check the attachment.

As you can see, this consumer filed a complaint on BBB on April 6th, I think she might have known that her bank would not support her claims, so she tried to use the BBB complaint to push us to settle with her. Unfortunately, we have not noticed this complaint.
