National Auto Movers is a local towing company based in Wilmington, DE with a history of illegally towing cars throughout the city of Wilmington. My SUV was parked in a residential loading zone in front of my Condo. There are no signs in the area that do not allow parking in front of the residences other than "Loading Zone" and "Future Resident" parking listed in the area. I went into my unit to drop off packages with family and came out shortly afterwards to my vehicle missing. I spoke to the concierge of both buildings and was informed that the tow truck randomly drives around the property and tows cars without any call from the property or notice to the owners of the vehicles, Nationals Auto Movers was named as the tow company. National Auto movers charged me $300 for tow and storage of my vehicle for less than 12hrs of storage, and less than a mile from their facility. They did not provide any written or digital proof that my vehicle was illegally parked. The property never called them to tow my car. This company operates with predatory practices and has been sent a cease and desist by the city of Wilmington.

The company towed my truck on 8-29-24. The vehicle was parked at my residence with a valid parking permit clearly displayed on the windshield. I picked up the vehicle yesterday 9-3-24 when I was able to arrange for a friend to tow it for me as the vehicle did not start. The company asked for no proof of ownership of the vehicle, meaning in theory anyone could have picked up my vehicle. The employee I dealt with was also extremely rude and disrespectful. I thoroughly inspected the vehicle with my boyfriend who is a licensed mechanic while the vehicle was still in the company’s storage lot. We both found multiple areas of the vehicle that were damaged significantly. Pictures were taken of the damage while the vehicle was still on their lot. While we were taking pictures the employee who escorted us to the vehicle made several attempts to rush us off the lot as well as making several rude/sarcastic comments. I’ve looked through several google and yelp reviews of this company and have found many people who shared a similar experience. I feel that the documented damage to my vehicle alone is worthy of consideration and recourse options being explored. Thank you for your time in this matter.

My car was towed illegally when it was parked in a court with no no parking signs in the area. We contacted them at night but nobody responded, we came in the next morning to be met by a rude lady (Patty) who is an excuse of a human being, she kicked my brother out not even 2 minutes into the conversation , then kicked me out saying I was not the owner of the car when I’m the co-owner!!!! of the car And refused to show me any proof of why the car was towed and started yelling at us when we asked to see pictures, then requested to speak to my father That is the owner of the car. We had to get him out of work and then she spoke in absolute, disrespect and rudeness. disrespecting both of me, my brother, my dad and his friend, screaming at us, cussing us out, and then overcharged us $350 and after we PAID she still refused to give my father the car because me and my brother were standing in the street which is a public property !!!! not even as close to 50 ft from her. She wanted us to be out of her sight for her to get the car back, which she have absolutely no right to do!!! she kicked me and my brother out of the street again and still refused to give my dad the car. We had to get the cops involved and more than 30 minutes later of my dad standing outside in the heat then she give the car back because she knew the cops were coming , she was an absolute disgrace to humanity and was the rudest customer service I’ve ever seen I don’t understand how she’s working at such a place and have the guts to cuss customers out no matter what their ages is, it was such a disgrace and horrible experience from a disgusting human being

On 7/9/24, my son's Toyota 4 Runner was towed by National Auto Movers for "illegal parking" at Christina's Landing. Upon retrieval of the vehicle, ***** with National Auto Movers indicated the fee would be $380 dollars. While the fee itself is egregious in nature warranting regulation, the breakdown of the charges showed an $80 fee. When asked about this, ***** indicated it was because his vehicle was a 4x4 and required "special equipment" warranting an additional $80. My son disclosed that the vehicle was a 4x2. He was asked to prove this in an effort to eliminate the fee. My husband and I worked to get the information over to ***** electronically. When it was shared with her, she indicated that she was going to charge the additional fee anyway and that technically, she did not have to release the vehicle to my son because the vehicle was not in his name. She indicated that the fee would remain at $380 or my husband and I would be forced to retrieve the vehicle, warranting us to fly to Wilimington to get it ourselves. Whereas I understand there are fees being warranted to retrieve "illegally parked" vehicles, the nature of the fee is extreme and warrants further regulation within the industry. Additionally, to upcharge him for "special equipment" which was not warranted reflects either a lack of intelligence of the auto industry on her part (which she should be well versed in) or an attempt to extort a 23 year old for additional money in order to retrieve an item that is rightfully his. I suspect the latter. When he went to pay the $380, she would only accept cash as a form of payment. I am requesting further investigation into this company as well as legislative regulation of the industry to further curtail future instance. Additionally, I am seeking a refund of the money rightfully owed.

Rude, unprofessional, degrading, wrongful tow. The police mention that they come to this business regularly to diffuse situations provoked but the owner/manager. They wrongfully tow cars and hang up on customers, ignore returning calls and , push them off until the next day. You’re initially met with rude mannerism, unprofessional behavior and these complaints have been validated by the officers who advised me to contact the BBB
