Same HP scam happened to me. They state they are certified technicians for HP and took care of getting me the HP app I needed to scan from my HP printer. They asked permission to log on to my laptop to provide me the scanner app and I allowed them to. Big mistake…. They were running through information I had never seen on my computer before and then told me I had a root kit that was an IP address infection and my laptop was compromised badly. Still believing they were HP certified people I took them at there word…. bad choice. Ended up agreeing to pay just over $1000 for 3 year plan for 5 devices that I am sure does not exist. They downloaded something that was supposed to take care of my issues and I paid them with a picture of one of my personal checks. After I got my good senses back I started checking them out online and found this site revealing their scam. Needless to say I put a stop payment on my check and now have to have my local tech guru thoroughly scan my laptop. Thank you to all of you who posted here for the heads up.

These people are still running their scam. I thought I was talking to a HP authorized tech person. Many $$ later, I was able to put a stop payment on the check. I can't leave a negative review so I put one star.

This is a Scam, I had an issue with my HP printer and, as the other reviewers noted, I thought I had was working with a licensed HP support team. The initial support person asked for permission to take remote control of my PC (a generally-accepted approach with tech support)and downloaded the remote control software he needed to my PC . The person fixed the issue I had with my HP scanner but said my PC was infected with malware and that was why the printer had failed. It turns out that the remote control software also included the alleged malware (turns out it was not malware - it was a fake). He then told me it would cost $199.00 to clean up my PC. He then referred me to an "IP ****************** expert". This person tried to convince me that after they did their cleanup, I would need to order a firewall security package - and quoted a ridiculous price ($550.00) -the *********************** me to my senses, and I began checking into this company, which brought me to these previous reviews. Please be warned - this scam is very good! I am very grateful to the individuals below who left their reviews below.

This is a scam. I am I retired IT Project Manager and I fell for it - so it can happen to any of us This scam is a perfect example of what is referred to as "Social Engineering". I had an issue with my HP printer and, as the other reviewers noted, I thought I had was working with a licensed HP support team. The initial support person asked for permission to take remote control of my PC (a generally-accepted approach with tech support)and downloaded the remote control software he needed to my PC . He then referred me to an "IP ****************** expert". This person tried to convince me that after they did their cleanup, I would need to order a firewall security package - and quoted a ridiculous price ($1750.00) -the *********************** me to my senses, and I began checking into this company, which brought me to these previous reviews. I refused to buy the software package and we finally concluded the call. I worked with my nephew (who is a REAL security expert) - we scanned my PC and concluded that no lasting damage had been done. Please be warned - this scam is very good! I am very grateful to the individuals below who left their reviews below.

Beware they are scammers. I had trouble with setting up my mother’s printer and thought I contact hp support. It was Thanksgiving so I got geek tech care. They said the worked with hp. I asked them for help to setup a printer. They charge me 250 to fix the computer saying it was hatched. It was my parents computer and they already had issues with identity theft. The computer had also gotten very slow. They showed me the foreign ip addresses and damaged drivers. They asked for another 500-1200 for security packages. I said they can’t afford. They came down to 250-500 for senior discount. After the fact they sent an agreement stating their security can be cancelled anytime without letting the customer know. They said you can call for help anytime. I called 5 times the next day to tell them to cancel the agreement and no one picked up. It went to an automatic voicemail. I terminated the payment and hired an IT guy to check the computer. Then they called multiple times, I blocked the number and told them I know you’re a scam.

I agree with the other victims of these smooth-talking hucksters. They put a bug on my Mac that printed out a threat over and over that my printer would be deactivated if I didn’t call this group. I doubt that message was from HP, but sadly this Florida junta is ending the trust I had in HP for decades.

This is a scam. Reached them through HP. Needed help with my printer not communicating with my computer. $1199 later, they said that they had cleaned up multiple viruses and bugs that had infected my computer, causing the printer problem.(there weren’t any viruses on my computer)You’re forced to pay because they’re logged into your system and can do major damage if you don’t pay. This money is also supposed to provide a lifetime super drooper security system, which is non existent. Coming from the HP site, you think you’re working with a legit company. My bank accounts are restricted so that they can’t do any access any more of my money.

This one is scary. The way ********** ( who you call, but you pay this one) is listed on ****** you think you care calling HP. Paid almost $200 and things still don't work and my home security system is disengaged. They want more money to send out a technician. Kept warning me that my computer was full of virus and they needed to add network security which was much more money. They said all my money in my accounts was going to disappear and then I will wish I had paid them. Mean and aggressive people. They constantly want access to your PC and phone. Want you to open bank accounts and ****** while they are logged in to your PC. I don't know any other way to report them but this. It looks like they changed their name to fool people. You don't get this name until you pay. I am afraid of them and hope they don't have enough information from my computer to do damage.

I believe this is a scam. After reading the other reviews. I had purchased a printer from HP and when trying to get it set up I had issues and called the number that was listed on the HP site for help and it went to this group. They were able to help install the printer after getting on my computer and charged me to do that. Then later last year they called to offer me 5 year package to protect my computer. I paid the $500 and now they appear to no longer be in service. HP needs to check their web site for help and make sure the number that is listed for help are not scammers.

This is a scam. We were referred to them by an "HP" technical support employee when speaking with HP technical support about numerous printer problems. The charge for Computer Repair and Security the person referred us to charged $2570 for a lifertime coverage. After a few initial calls for help, the phone number was not in service. Called the bank immediately and reported the scam and secured the account. My review would be a Minus but I'll put the one star.
