I started receiving a Vogue subscription in October of 2023 that I didn't sign up for. I don't know who is paying for it and I am concerned that I will be billed for it even though I did not agree to that. I contacted Vogue customer service letting me know "my" subscription was through National Magazine Exchange and I would have to contact them. I emailed today (2/16/2024) to request a stop to this subscription as well as information on who is paying for it. I await their response. I would like this subscription cancelled and the assurance that I am not being billed for it.

I began receiving 2-year subscriptions to Vogue and Vanity Fair magazines which I did not order. When I called Vogue, they said the order originated from National Publishers Exchange and I would need to contact them to cancel it. I noticed online that numerous people have been scammed by this company, therefore I refuse to deal with them directly. They claim that people enter sweepstakes and win a magazine subscription. I have not entered any sweepstakes.

Received an unsolicited magazine subscription to Vanity Fair magazine. I did not sign up for this, I did not request it. an issue of the magazine simply showed up out of the blue. Upon requesting a cancellation with Vanity Fair directly, I was notified that the subscription originated from the National Magazine Exchange. I am not sure what the scam is, or how they got my information. I wrote to them requesting that they remove me from their system and cancel the subscription.

I was pressured to purchase a magazine from an organization called Self Starter working with National Magazine Exchange. This organization does not respond to telephone calls. National Magazine appear to be aware of the fact that Self Starter is a scam (my call to them to try to cancel was obstructive with the operator repeatedly having problems with her system, wanting to chat about where i lived, first saying it was cancelled and then saying I could not cancel without reaching Self Starter.

I want to be removed from the unlawful use of my personal information such as mailing address and name from this company who is reluctant to remove me from their calling list and mailing list. Their magazines are just creating more trash and harming our environment. Please have them stop. Its unlawful for this company to be subscribing magazines issues which I have not requested nor am I interested in receiving. Stop the Trash save our planet.

I am again being scammed by a so called entity National Publishers Exchange and I can see from online queries I am not alone by a long shot. Well over a year ago I ordered a magazine called Moviemaker. I received two copies and decided it wasnt what I expected, called the company and cancelled my subscription on the spot, told them I didnt care for refund, simply cancel. So last January I once again received and was billed for another year even after I had cancelled. Danced around on telephone calls for hours until I finally got them to stop and return my money. And here we go again on round 3 with a magazine sent to me that I did not authorize payment. Havent found any charges on any of my credit cards yet and will go after them any way possible. But I will say this sort of nonsense if not illegal certainly should be. These style houses assume one will a. Not notice or b. Not *********** because its practically impossible to get someone on phone or email that knows what is going.

On 11/2/23 I received a copy of Vogue magazine that I know for certain I never subscribed to. I called their customer service and was told I was signed up through a third party vendor called National Publishers Exchange. They gave me their number to contact and said I would have to call them to obtain any billing info. I still asked for the magazines to be stopped being sent to my address and I still received a copy on 11/6/23, so I hope that was the last one for now. If not I'll be calling Vogue once again. I researched National Publishers Exchange and found out that many many people have experienced this same situation and even got sent bills for these subscriptions they never ordered. I emailed this company to stop using my information and that I wasn't responsible for any bills charged without my permission for this subscription I never wanted or signed up for. I also filed a report with the ************************ just to ensure I had more of a paper trail. I've attached both my email to NPE and FTC. I want the magazines to stop, I want to ensure I won't get any bills in the mail asking me to pay for this, and I want my information to be kept private from this company.

On 10-26-23, I received a telephone call from ***************************** in Bensalem, **., ************, who is allegedly representing a collection agency on behalf of National Magazine Exchange. He requested I pay $74.00 for a one year subscription to Conde Nast Traveler through this magazine Exchange. I requested he send to me all pertinent information regarding this alleged order I placed. I then advised that I would never think of sending someone such as **************** money for something that I never ordered and I advised him that it was my feeling that this was nothing more than a ploy to obtain information from me for identity theft type of fraud. I highly doubt that I will be receiving anything from this individual or his company (he would not give me the name of the company that he works for). I do believe that I am spot on in thinking that this has to do with fraud as he stated that I had placed the order on 9-25-23 and the monies due were to be paid by 10-3-23 (doesn't even make good sense). Due to this call and the fact that it never originated with my placing an order for this subscription, I am respectfully requesting that they be advised to never again contact me For Anything and my name and all personal information they may have be removed from their data base. Additionally I would like some sort of Letter of Apology as this should suffice to show an acknowledgement on their part that they in fact did make this call to me and I do not owe any monies to this company for anything.

      Dear *************************,

The National Magazine Exchange has been sponsoring sweepstakes for over thirty years as a way to promote our consumer subscription service offerings.  The information mailed to our recipients merely welcomes them to telephone us to enter the sweepstakes.  The mailer contains the complete sweepstakes rules, including instructions on how to enter, the date of the drawing, the odds of winning, all eligibility restrictions, and the statements that there is no purchase or payment necessary to enter or to win,and that a purchase would not improve the chances of winning. After completion of the entry our callers are offered discounted magazine services as well as various products to accept, if selected.
Our records show that you contacted us to enter our sweepstakes on 8/22/2023. After your entry was completed you were offered a magazine package that you subsequently selected, and a payment plan was arranged and agreed to. You reluctantly provided your billing details, which subsequently never successfully remitted payment for the magazines agreed to. Due to this we transferred your account to our collection partner, Monarch.

As you requested we have canceled the account and instructed the collection agency to cease attempts to collect on the account. We have also placed you in our internal Do Not Contact database to prevent future correspondence. Please be advised that we do not report any items to the credit bureaus. You may receive one or two more issues of the magazines as the publishers pre-label them for shipping. You may keep or discard them at your convenience. If you may have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach us by emailing ********************************* or by calling our **************** at **************.

      Best Regards,

I am rejecting this response because although they stated that they have instructed monarch collections to cease attempts to get a hold of me they do not state that they have indicated to let monarch know to not forward anything to my credit report that is what I care about, my credit report once I have something in writing that states that my credit report should not be affected by this then I will be happy but until such time I'm waiting for something in writing once again so that I have something to turn around and show the credit bureaus. I will await a response hopefully sooner than later.:

BBB asks third parties who publish complaints, reviews and/or responses on this website to affirm that the information provided is accurate. However, BBB does not verify the accuracy of information provided by third parties, and does not guarantee the accuracy of any information in Business Profiles.

When considering complaint information, please take into account the company's size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm's responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.

BBB Business Profiles generally cover a three-year reporting period, except for customer reviews. Customer reviews posted prior to July 5, 2024, will no longer be published when they reach three years from their submission date. Customer reviews posted on/after July 5, 2024, will be published indefinitely unless otherwise voluntarily retracted by the user who submitted the content, or BBB no longer believes the review is authentic. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this company, please let them know that you checked their record with BBB.

As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
