This was one of or if not the worst experience I have ever had with a legitimate moving company. In this case; it was very simple job, remove a bed frame. No mattress; just a bed frame. On the website it shows estimates and what those estimates are based on. Knowing that they're will be possible ancillary charges and that it's an estimate. We assumed that it would probably cost around 150 dollars. Unfortunately the cost turned out to be 266 dollars. Per their website, <1/8th of truckload cost $99 dollars. Per the receipt I guess it costs $179 dollars. Per the website they charge by half hour/hour. I was charged by the hour even though they arrived at exactly 10:53 and left at the exact time it shows on all camera's, and development gate. Not even they're for a half hour but was charged for an hour. Lastly, the place does not have a phone number unless you are calling to pay for services. Once the job is setup and/or complete, the local number brings you to offshore ***** deceiving and not legally compliant in itself. Nonetheless, the manager would not let me speak to the owner and I was told to charge back on my credit card. The quantity of 1 <1/8) is accurate on receipt but for some reason, even though it is marked as "less then" - we were charged for 179 dollars not 99. Instead of half hour for 40 extra, we were charged for the hour. Arrival time with proof of when they called my phone once they arrived to the gate and picture of ring camera of when they left at 11:18. So arrival time as proof via incoming call on arrival and departure as proof in ring camera, but again.Charged the full hour. I asked for an adjustment, not a refund but to no avail and no explanation as to why the cost was 267 dollars to take out an empty bed frame which also has the wrong description size of the item. This review is legitimate. The delivery persons name was lan, and the "manager's name" was not *********** addition they are a B, not A "BBB review". Website says ABusiness Response

******, we have researched this complaint.
Please review the receipt you uploaded, the labor was charged properly at 1/2 hour not a full hour that you thought. It reads .5 hours @ 160 $80.00
You are correct in your interpretation of the guide on our website, the bed is 1/8th of a truck, your confusion was the fault of our team member (for which we apologize). He billed you correctly at the 1/8 price, however wrote the billing on the wrong line.
We apologize for the confusion.

As we speak today, 4/16-I have posted the exact same review here on ****** reviews. I received a response on ****** as well stating "we're sorry and give us a call".
when I called, I was directed to their offshore **** again and then finally to the "manager". Who essentially hanged up the phone and said "I will not win the dispute of the charge. The apology is irelevant considering the false advertising on the website alone stating their BBB rating is an A; and still shows that. In addition, the deceiving nature of the website without proper website certification is a problem as well.
ultimately I still have not received the partial refund that I disputed and continue to have the business, say the exact opposite of the response here. "Sorry", doesn't it. What does, is the issue of proof I have along with the "mistake" of the employee: which is unfortunate and very telling in general of what kind of business this is. A manager blaming the employee, is a typical manager/owner - protecting themselves but tossing their employee "under the bus". Once the business tells "********" the same thing that is said here, at that point I would be willing to amend any negative reviews but still make sure the truth is being known.

I am rejecting this response because: simply look at the screenshots. Look at the misrepresentation stating the business is a B, not A as shown on website (also in screenshots)- and as mentioned in the initial response from this merchant, it was pretty clear - the manager responded blaming the actual driver and worker.

I hired this company twice, the first time to move from my house that was sold and they moved all my staff to a storage place, they charged me extra because there was more things that I mentioned, no problem I paid. this was n the month of October.on January I contacted the firm again to have my staff back to my new place, they had the inventory from the first time.when they brought my staff the personnel that came did not wanted to use the back door that was wider than the front door, they refused. when they were entering some of my staff that it was sealed with plastic and blankets they removed the covers without asking for my consent, and scratched my office desk and a chair that they drop, and a chinaware furniture. I filed a complaint and they denied saying there was another person involved and that they have films and pictures that were not provided to me; at the same time they gave me a $100 for my next time.they overcharged me extra for the movingBusiness Response

Date of Transaction - 01/26/25 Total amount paid - $700.00 Company was hired to move boxes, furniture etc. From old location to new ***********'s like they work slow on purpose just so they could get the most out of the move which literally was just my bedroom and my TV from ********** and a sofa from me. They still charged me for the for hours plus they were charging me for tape blankets, wrap and we use our own tools to take out the legs of the sofa and my friends are the ones that put the sofa in the house and unwrapped. did a horrible move, unprofessional.I had to do most of my own work they were slow and charged me $700 and will not give me back a dime they couldn't get the couch through the door I had to do it myself they charged me for tape. I spoke to management they aren't doing anything to try and resolve the matter.Business Response

We completed this move in less time than the estimate that was approved and signed for and only charged her for the time used. She did take the legs off the sofa told us to keep unloading to save time.
We have had multiple conversations with her.

I had them help us with our move on 8/30, before the move we scheduled a video call to review in detail all the things we needed help moving and we discussed all the material needed in order to protect all our belongings. We had three guys help us, but once it came to packing my white sofa we were told that they did not have enough plastic to wrap or protect my sofa, I communicated this to the person who helped me schedule my move and he informed the manager, after this my husband spoke to one of the guys at my house and he told me that it would take 45 minutes for someone to drop off more plastic, we then asked if we were going to be billed for the time and they said yes. Since we needed to be on the move they just took my white sofa with no protection at all. When we got to the new house it was all dirty. After checking the rest of the things they moved aside from hitting my furniture against the wall and leaving holes in multiple places they also damaged my dining room table, they broke 3 tables, scuffed the baseboards and the stairs. I have contacted them MULTIPLE times and no updates. Their claims department has not reached out at all to confirm when this will be take care of,I am requesting a full refundBusiness Response

****, we did have some minor damages when your move was completed. We have already sent a professional cleaning company to take care of the dirt on the sofa. We have scheduled a professional furniture technician to complete the minor repairs. According to our records, we are waiting to hear back from you to reschedule the appointment that cancelled because your husband had a meeting to attend. Please contact our claims department to reschedule.

College hunks helped me move on 06/24/24. I hired them for a simple 2 BR condo move into storage. Elevators were involved but I was transparent about this when getting quotes. I was quoted for 3/4 hours which was similar to the quotes from most other moving companies. They took 9 1/2 hours to complete the job. They had 2 men on the job, with a smaller truck. The workers were not transparent about the additional chargers for materials and used several different packing materials without letting me know I would be charged. By 7hr marking, I decided I needed to help the moving guys as they were still behind. This was by far a very stressful situation and in no way a stress free company to use. I called the manager during the move to complain about how unhappy I was with the process. He did cap the time and didnt charge for additional materials due to their lack of transparency. However I still paid just under $1000.After the move was finally completed both moving employees were texting me with ??? When I didnt send them a tip, after I told them I would do it once I got back home from the storage place which was at 10pm at night. They were not being patient when I clearly stated I would send it to them once home. You would think after a 9.5hr move they would have the decency to wait after a tiring day for us all. Not professional by any means. I tried to be pleasant and patient with this situation but its just absolutely ridiculous. After retrieving my items from storage on July 15th, a new moving company was shocked with how College Hunks packed the storage unit with my items. TVs werent place safely with items on top of them with furniture not even wrapped safely. We found out they broke my flat screen 55inch tv, cracks and scrapes on my furniture along with my long mirror broken in pieces, I have reached out several times and nothing has been resolved for the last 3 weeks. I have been given the run around and false promises that it will be resolved.Business Response

We have had multiple discussions and emails with this client. Her goods were put into a storage unit and later taken out by a different mover. Moving is a very regulated and paper intensive business. The mover that moved her to her home did not fill out a pre-existing damage report. the damages were reported to her upon arrival at her home.
There is a chain of custody issue here. When the second mover reported the damages to her in her home, after they moved them, they were the only company that could take responsibility.
It is unfortunate that the damages occurred, but there is no basis for any responsibility on our part.

I am rejecting this response because:There are several negative factors that happened with my move with college hunks. Which I stated in my direct email response with the claim center. I understand you don't want to take accountability for the broken smart tv or damaged furniture due to another moving company being hired to move things out of storage. However, I also stated the unprofessionalism with my move compared to the new ones hired who wrapped everything with care. May I add that also took 4 hours vs 9.5hrs with you guys with the same furniture. Its disappointing that there is no accountability or eagerness to correct the negative experience, and make it right after what I experienced in general, which you are very aware of since I spoke to management during my move. To not offer any kind of reimbursement or a even simply taking accountability is very telling as a company. I am now at a loss of broken unfixable items and damaged furniture on top of a horrible moving experience. And it takes 5 weeks of calling college hunks back and fourth with no decency to call back an upset customer. Disappointed, is an *******************************************************************

This is my second filing about my move that happened on May 11th 2024. The first was settled over the price. This was a building to building move in the same complex, no truck needed.I have an 1890 era wooden and glass china cabinet that was damaged during the move, broken glass. They decided to take the unit down the stairs instead of the elevator unknown to me. It was wrapped in plastic wrap only to keep the doors closed , there was not any padding or glass protection. After I saw the damage and questioned why it went down the stairs I made them use the elevator to bring up to my new unit. It fits and there was never any reason not to use the elevator other than bad judgement. In the weeks that followed I was asked by their claims department to measure for the glass replacement, i resisted but did measure the opening even though it is far from my expertise. 2 weeks later ***** the ** called to have someone come and remeasure the glass, he sent 2 of his movers who arrived without a measuring tape, fortunately I had one. The gentleman measured and spoke on the phone giving the info to an unknown person and left.Fast forward I then get an email from claims saying that they want to take the unit out to a glass shop which I resisted as the unit is 140 years old. I suggested they send a professional to measure and replace the glass.Nothing has happened and I questioned why and was told if I had let them take the unit I would have it back already and that they will send me a check and I can fix it myself. The quote for the the glass is $40, no one is going to fix the glass for $40.I have called ***** * times, and emailed their claims department ( there is no phone to call) and no one has responded.I would like the glass replaced properly... a glass company come out and measure and come back and install the glass the proper way.Business Response
Date: 07/08/2024
We have agreed to replace the glass. Would like to pick up the unit and bring to our glass person. he does not want this done. Our only other option is to pay him the cost of the glass being replaced (approximately 40 dollars) so he can have it done by whoever he likes.
This is an easy repair; we have given him two options. There is nothing else we can do at this point.

i heard from the General Manager today who again stated that they want to remove the piece of furniture and bring it to have the glass repaired. It is a 140 year old wooden china cabinet and i really do not want it moved again. They will offer only $.60 per pound insurance on the piece and will not insure it for its $10000.00 value or guarantee that nothing will happen to it. They refuse to have a glass company come to my home to measure it, so either I can measure the glass, they can take the unit or I can accept $40 compensation, None of those work for me.
Moving a 140 year old antique and offering a damage value of 60 cents per pound... no
Having a professional measure the glass to repair... they refuse
Ending claim for $40... no

Date - March 15, 2024 We hired College Hunks to clear out our storage unit from an old office building. The units included everything from paper/office supplies, to cubicles, office furniture etc. We were told we would receive a tax receipt for any items that could be donated. To this date - June 6, 2024 - we have not received the tax receipt. We've tried contacting the customer service line repeatedly and have been assured each time we would receive our tax receipt "shortly", but we never do. We've asked to speak to a manager/supervisor and have been told someone would call us back, but they never do. We've spent seemingly endless time on hold waiting for a manager/supervisor and are always disconnected.Business Response

On December 13, 2024, I hired College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving Palm Beach County to help me move from my former townhouse to my condo. While moving items into the condo, the movers forcefully shoved my front door open, which resulted in the thumb turn of my deadbolt slamming into my Nest thermostat. This broke the thermostat. One of the movers said that he would talk with his boss and have my thermostat replaced. As I had not received any correspondence after the move, I filed a claim with College Hunks on 12/21/23. I waited for a response and never received one. I contacted College Hunks customer service on 1/16/24 to check on the status of my claim. They stated that the claims department denied my request. I requested to have the claim resubmitted, and the customer service rep said that she would. I checked back with College Hunks on 1/22, 1/29, 1/31, 2/7, and 2/10. Each time leading up to the call on 2/10, the customer service rep said they would leave a message for the claims department, but there was no way to reach them directly. I never received any correspondence from College Hunksno phone call, email, or letter in response to my claim. Moreover, on the 1/31 call with the local office, I was told that the claims **** denied my claim because it was my fault the thumb turn and thermostat were at the same level. Ive been told that the company will not reimburse me for the cost of a new thermostat, approximately $180.This was an accident; however, this is why companies are insured. Im extremely disappointed that College Hunks is not accepting responsibility for damaging my property.Business Response
Date: 03/07/2024
After review, we must agree with the adjuster in the claims department. You are right that it may not be your fault that the thermostat was installed at the same height as the door handle, however this also is not the responsibility of our company. There was no negligence, the door hit the thermostat and broke it. We are sorry that this happened, you mentioned insurance, our adjuster uses insurance company criteria if there is property damage, this was turned down based on this.
