    Date: 03/21/2023

Please note that the complaint letter
dated March 1, 2023 was received on March 20, 2023.  We apologize for our delay in responding.

    Response to
    complaint **************
During ******** *****’s final semester as a senior, his professor for his 4 remaining
psychology classes, became frustrated with his lack of motivation and
progress.  On 10/23/22, his professor asked the Provost for help.
******** was removed from his four classes and began working individually with
the Provost (who is qualified to teach psychology) to finish his classes.
    On 11/22/2022,
two weeks prior to the end of the semester, ******** was asked to leave Beacon
College for disciplinary reasons.  ******** appealed this decision and was
allowed to complete his course work remotely, and to graduate in December 2022.
    After the
disciplinary decision ******** *****’s mother sent an appeal of tuition for the
last 2 weeks of classes ******** would not be attending, even thought
********’s appeal was granted Beacon College decided to also grant the appeal
to clear the unpaid balance on ********’s accounts.  Copy of email below:

    In early
spring ******** requested being removed from the meal plan, a credit to account
was issued on 07/19/2022 in the amount of $2,350.00 – this offset the original
    charge on account.
    Below is the
credit to account refunds Beacon processed to cover the unpaid balance:
    Graduation fee                        $   375.00
    Tuition refund                         $3,964.24
    Room refund               $1,062.50
    Technology refund      $      32.50
    Wellness Ctr Refund   $      25.00
    Total additional credits         $5,459.24

The total of these 2 credits to account
refunds is $7,809.00.  This is refund Ms.
******* believes is being returned. As ******** had a remaining balance on his
account these credit to account refunds offset the charges leaving a balance of
    zero.

The information provided by Dr. C*******
on February 1, 2022 showed the refunds were applied to ********’s account as
promised and ******** has no balance with Beacon College this is reflected in
the copy of the student statement below:

******** has never had a small balance
the entire Fall 22 semester. ******** started the Fall 22 semester with a
balance of $7,556.80.  ******** was to be
working and making payments on his account per the agreement with Ms* *******
    and ******** in September 2022.
    ******** made 2 payments of $48.78 on 10/05/22 & 10/19/22, please
    see above student statement.

Ms* ******* keeps referring to a private
room.   ******** is not in a private
room, ******** is in a private bedroom, the common area is a shared space.  In August 2022 prior to ******** attending
the Fall Semester at Beacon College; Beacon College offered a cost savings room
change to ******** of a shared bedroom but Ms* ******* stated this was not an
option due to ********’s medical issues.

Below is the response sent to ********

    Response to
    additional comments from Consumer.
    ******** has
received the credits or refunds as Ms. ******* states in her complaint.    ******** ***** had a balance on his account
that was forgiven.  There is no money
going back to the student.    The credits
have been applied to the student account as stated in the email from Dr.
    Shelley C******* on 02/13/23 to Ms. *******.
    Meal credit on account                                   $2,350.00
Graduation fee credit on account                   $   375.00
    Tuition credit on account                                $3,964.24

    Total credits on account                                 $7,809.25

The “refund” Ms. ******* keeps referring
to is shown in the attached .pdf.
Beacon provided a transaction history of ********’s account per her
request.  The blue highlighted items are
what Ms. ******* thinks is being refunded to ******** in a check.    These
credits were applied to the outstanding balance clearing anything ******** owed
to the college for his last semester.
The yellow highlighted items show ********’s account is paid in full.

Again, there is no refund to the student.    All credits indicated in the screenshot
below provided by Ms. ******* have already been given to the student as shown
in the attached document – email from Dr. C*******.   Beacon

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

Tina you call me on 08/24/2022 left me a voicemail mail stating ******** balance on his account was 2620.00 after all payments ******** did not have a balance of what you saying 7556 prior to school starting he only had a balance of 658.00  i still have your voicemail message giving me his balance after loans and Mel er payments ******** did not have a 7556 balance and you keep missing the point also where you also said if my son did not return to school after break his balance would be forgiven to forgive a balance and you already said it is not even think about what is left on account because you forgiven it no matter what is owed.
and if there is a credit it should be returned to the person that you forgiven . Not to go back to your school  again Dana told me ******** had a small balance Dr C******* told ******** that he had money coming back when he visited school back in January. And after I spoke to her she told me we had credits coming back to us and ******** did not owe what you are saying anyway he only hat left on his balance 2060 and he made 2 payments so it was less then that all you did was added his credit to his beginning balances together 25,059 and as I expressed to Dr C******* am still trying to understand how your school had a student don’t work and has a disability sign for 60 thousand dollars in loans without out contacting the parent first . And that’s not counting the money I signed for him no student should be leaving college with that type debt and as I told Dr C******* no bachelors degree doesn’t cost what you charging and you’re college failed my son . On this paper you sent saying Refund and Dr C******* sent what supposed to be refunded and I want it refunded back to my son you have collected over 200 thousand dollars on behalf of my son you been paid triple what it worth he left Beacon college as you asked he did not return and where you have returned send the refund because ******** balance was not 7556 it was 2620 and minus his 2 payments how can you take a credit and put it back towards the school and you already forgiven it I want his credit sent back to him not to Beacon college it was forgiven

    Sincerely,

    ******** *******
