My husband and I began using Medi-Share in 2017 and after going on ******** we switched to Senior Assist. We love this organization because of the efficiency, great communication and excellent service we have received over the years. We have never had a problem with any claims and we highly recommend this organization for your health coverage needs!Christian Care Ministry, Inc.

Most of the time I'm delighted with the MediShare 65+ program. It pays out like a seconfary, as long as the provider sends the billing info to them. I've had to get copies and send it myself a few times, and it has been paid every time. All I can say is try it, you'll like it, and it's Christians helping Christans How much better can it be?Christian Care Ministry, Inc.

Medi-Share is by far the worst experience I've had in the healthcare marketplace. They mask being so awful by trying to pray for you after each call. Would never recommend even to my mortal enemy. Avoid at all costs. It's would cost less to be uninsured than to actually pay for this garbage. I would give zero stars if possible.Christian Care Ministry, Inc.

Thank you for sharing your experience, *********** We are saddened that Medi-Share did not meet your expectations. As a reminder, Medi-Share is not insurance, but rather a health care sharing ministry, so it does work differently. Members have voted on how medical bills are shared after an Annual Household Portion (similar to a deductible) is met, and these guidelines are on Medi-Shares website for review before joining. Although Medi-Share members routinely share around $40 million per month in eligible medical bills, we understand that Medi-Share might not meet the needs of every household. Fortunately, there are many options available for health care today. If you have specific needs that Medi-Share can address, please contact us. Thank you.Christian Care Ministry, Inc.

My experience as a Medi-Share member is that providers who accept this plan are few and far between. They tried to send me to a plastic surgeon for my son's ENT provider. I have submitted out of pocket expenses that they refuse to apply to our maximum, but providers who accept medi-share are pretty nonexistent. I had no issue talking with a person before I joined Medi-Share, but now it's a ridiculous amount of time before I can get any assistance. When I do connect to a human, I'm quickly transferred "to another department" that ends up being AI computerized system. Even providers on Medi-share directory do not accept this plan. It's sad, really. I am planning to switch to CHM to use my own providers. CHM monthly expense is less than what I am paying for medi-share, and especially when I combine all I'm forking over out of pocket that's denied as value with my Medi Share plan. Additionally, our region's only children's hospital is deemed by Medi-Share as out of network. If I have to take a child to a hospital for an urgent situation, Medi-Share has been unable to advise where to go. Children's hospitals are specialty, and it's abysmal that Medi-Share does not recognize this.Christian Care Ministry, Inc.

Hello ******, Thank you for voicing your concerns, we understand how frustrating this must be. We'd like to clear up some confusion. Medi-Share has two primary preferred provider (PPO) organizations that members can utilize depending on their location. Membership in a PPO allows Medi-Share membersto benefit from quality medical care at discounted prices for medical events that are eligible for sharing. The two PPOs that Medi-Share members have access to are either ******************* System or First Health. For clarification, information in provider directories is provided by and updated by the network and not by Medi-Share. Sometimes a doctor or facility will drop from the network and does not inform the network. Medi-Share can still process bills from providers that are not in network; if there is an out-of-network penalty associated with the provider visit, the penalty can be waived in certain circumstances. When calling providers, the best person to speak with to confirm network participation is a billing supervisor or office manager. Schedulers or pre-registration personnel may not be aware of Medi-Share or of its PPO participation. When submitting bills, industry standardized medical billing forms with proper coding are required to process charges as per Medi-Shares member-voted guidelines; this ensures that Medi-Share members are sharing (or not sharing) in needs that follow the guidelines. Please reach out to the individual assigned to your case with any questions or comments. Thank you very much!Review fromJeanie J

Beware of Medi-Share! We have been members for a few years and things had been going fine. Some things werent shareable but seemed minor u til my daughter with terrible migraines couldnt find a medication that helped. She was having 2-3 migraines a week and it was debilitating. The neurologist finally recommended trying Botox injections (and it has been one of the only things that have truly helped). The drs office called for their pre-approval process (they may call it something else) and they said Botox for migraines could be shareable. So we made our decision based off of that information. They always say final determination will be made at the time the billing is submitted (as a way to not guarantee anything and cover their butts to deny your claim). They knew she was a pediatric patient but never said they wouldnt approve it for pediatric patients. They denied the procedure stating that they wouldnt cover because shes a pediatric patient and its not formulary. When i asked why they have a process for the drs office to call and verify beforehand i was told that I should have personally called and thats the only true way to verify if a procedure would be covered (because it would trigger some sort of actual review - so why dont they do this when the drs office calls???? Or tell the drs office that the patient should call in to actually find out if it is shareable? They had no answer to their broken system). I asked how i could have known that and she read some guideline to me that didnt even say that. I asked how anyone can have confidence having a major medical procedure and not being stuck with massive bills and was told that final determination could only be made after the bill was submitted. I no longer have any confidence in this company and am now stuck with a bill for $8,700. They thought continuing to say I hear you would just magically fix the problem. I am now looking elsewhere for a new company and let them know they were losing a member.Christian Care Ministry, Inc.

Hello ******. Medi-Share sincerely regrets any recent misunderstanding about your daughters treatment. Medi-Share is not insurance but a health care sharing ministry that is governed by its member-voted guidelines, which are available on its website. Members have decided that a final determination on sharing is made when bills are submitted for sharing. Pre-notification by a provider does not guarantee eligibility. Members do have the option, per the guidelines, of requesting a Pre-Eligibility review to give the member a preliminary determination of whether or not the proposed treatment appears to be eligible for sharing. Members have also voted that if, as per the guidelines, a medication or treatment is not ****approved, for example, for pediatric use, then it would not be eligible for sharing. Please reach out to Medi-Share with any questions or comments. Thank you for the opportunity to respond.Review fromDaniel R

Its hard to believe they call themselves Christian Care. These people go out of their way looking for a reason to deny paying anything. Quick to take your money and mislead you. I hadnt seen a doctor in 13 years for my knee and as soon as I see one the say Im not eligible because there was a pre-existing condition.Christian Care Ministry, Inc.

Hello ****************. Medi-Share is saddened to read your comments. Decisions regarding pre-existing conditions are based on Medi-Share's published, member-voted guidelines which are available on Medi-Share's website, www.mychristiancare.org. However, members do have the option of appealing bill-sharing decisions that they do not agree with. Someone will be reaching out to you to follow up on your concerns. I have had a very frustrating experience. We pay our monthly share- and when we had an emergency and needed to go to an emergency room for a knee injury, it's been a circus trying to get them to "negotiate" for us. I have spent hours on the phone, sending emails, scanning and sending documents. Still, no adjustments. We are now in collections because it has taken so long and we owe exactly what we would have without medishare.I am seeking other options. What a huge disappointment.Christian Care Ministry, Inc.

Horrible experience. Over the past 13 months I have had over $20k in medical expenses, none of which has been covered. I have contacted multiple times and each time am told something different. I filled out the form and submitted the reciepts and then was told I submitted the wrong form. I submitted that form and then was told a different story. Now they claim that they need codes, which are clearly on the receipts that were submitted. For months now this company has dragged things out just so they won't have to cover anything I've had $20k in medical expenses due to a pretty serious issue and this organization has covered absolutely none of it, not even the blood tests which came back proving that there was an issue. Also takes weeks to get a response. I've been a member since 2018 and will be canceling if this issue isn't fixed immediately and I get at least something back for these expenses.Christian Care Ministry, Inc.

Hello ********, Medi-Share would be happy to help and has attempted to reach you by phone and by email to address your concerns. As per Medi-Share's published, member-voted guidelines, standardized medical billing forms (a CMS 1500 form for a physician or a UB04 form for a facility) must be submitted for charges to be processed. Receipts of payment are not sufficient. In addition, each Medi-Share household has an Annual Household Portion (or AHP, similar to a deductible) that needs to be met before Medi-Share members can share in eligible bills. Please reach out to the representative assigned to your case for assistance. Thanks very much.Review fromErin P

In October, I broke my ankle and had to have emergency surgery. Even though the hospital was an in-network provider, they told me they didn't recognize Christian Care Ministry/Medi-Share and I had to self-pay. I spoke with Medi-Share before the surgery to find out what documentation they would need for sharing so that I could submit it for reimbursement. Since it was an emergency, I didn't have a choice but to pay the $26,000 out of pocket. After the surgery, I submitted all the required documents including the UB04, the itemized receipt and the receipt of payment. Now, 7 months later, I still have not been reimbursed for the surgery, nor has it been applied to our Annual Household Portion. I just called and was told that they are in "for negotiation" with the hospital and it would be at least 2 more months before I could expect reimbursement even though they have had all the required documentation. This means that it will have taken at least 9 months to be reimbursed for the surgery. This is the most recent timeline I was given--it differs every time I call.On top of that, 7 months ago we paid out-of-pocket well above our Annual Household Portion of $6000. However, since Medi-Share still hasn't applied the hospital bill to our yearly AHP, we are paying for all medical expenses out-of-pocket in addition to our monthly share of almost $700. In other words, since we have had Medi-Share, we have paid for every single medical service out-of-pocket in addition to the $700 a month for Medi-Share. It has been a total waste of money with no benefit except costing my family $700 a month.Christian Care Ministry, Inc.

Thank you, ****, for the opportunity to address your concerns. Medi-Share regrets any frustration you may have experienced in the processing of your bill. Once the proper documentation was received the bill was processed following our standard negotiation procedures for high-dollar medical bills. Your bill has completed processing and a check will be sent to you in the near future. Please reach out to Medi-Share's ****** Services team at ************ with any other questions or comments. I disagree with all of the poor reviews. We are a family of six who have had zero negative experiences. There is certainly a learning curve but every time you call a real person answers the phone quickly. The website also has a current list of physicians. I was hospitalized and it was covered after our deductible. My daughter broke her arm and it was discounted. We pay the higher deductible and put the savings in our HSA. Perhaps if you are generally unhealthy, used to take your children to the doctor for every sniffle, or unable to save money toward your deductible this wouldnt be the plan for you.Christian Care Ministry, Inc.
