I rented a car on April 9 through Price line for $178 and I choose to pay when I arrived at advantage rent a car located in Orlando ******* . When I arrived I was asked if I wanted to use their insurance and I said no I will use my own which was State Farm . I gave my info and when we went through the signatures for all their agreements he ( employee) scrolled through and asked me to initial here if you want to waive renters insurance so I did. When I received my final bill it showed renters insurance. I call immediately and explained I didnt agree with that but they said you signed for it which I didnt . This is a scam and there are many complaints against this company for doing similar things. They wont let me speak to a supervisor.

At the time of pickup, the customer did not provide a declaration page to verify proof of insurance. Although the on-duty agent accepted the customers verbal confirmation of coverage, collision protection was still added to the rental to ensure the vehicle remained fully insured.
While we recognize that the customer may have existing insurance through their provider, it is standard practice for rental companies to offer additional protection plans. These options are designed to provide our customers with added peace of mind and comprehensive coverage throughout the rental period.

The problem I have the associate asked me if I wanted to use their insurance or mine. I responded mine - he asked me what type of insurance I have I told him State Farm- he said ok I will cancel their insurance and add State Farm - he said I was all set. He then proceeded to have me initial three different lines one specifically for declining their insurance. He read it out loud and scrolled through the statements. This is where he scammed me by telling me one thing but not telling me correctly therefore I initialed it thinking it was for declining their insurance. I looked into this and this company is known for adding hidden fees to people. Whether I signed for it or not they are scamming customers out of a lot of money and this is fraud.

At the time of vehicle pickup, the customer did not provide a declaration page to verify proof of personal insurance coverage. Although the on-duty agent accepted the customers verbal confirmation of insurance,Collision Protection was added to the rental agreement to ensure the vehicle remained fully insured during the rental period.
Based on our review, the rental agreement was presented electronically, and the customer provided initials and a signature next to the selected protection options, including Collision Protection. While we understand the customer may have believed they were declining coverage, the documentation and system records confirm acceptance.
It is never our intention to mislead or cause confusion. We are committed to transparency and encourage all customers to carefully review the terms
We understand that the customer may carry their own insurance coverage; however, it is standard practice across the rental industry to offer additional protection plans. These options are presented to ensure customers have access to comprehensive coverage and added peace of mind throughout the rental period.
We appreciate the opportunity to clarify this matter and remain committed to transparent and fair service for all our customers.

I made an online car reservation for $180.83 directly on the Advantage Car Rental website prior to arriving in ***. Upon arriving at their offsite facility, (which was listed being located at the airport and it was not), I was told there would be additional charges that Florida puts on car rentals for such things as battery charges, tire charges, VLF Rec, and that the new dollar amount for the rental would be $458.11. There was nothing on my online reservation that said there would be additional charges. I do have screen shots of the reservation on my phone. Additionally a $1,000.00 charge is pending on my card that I was not told was going to be put on my card. Another customer who was returning his vehicle while I was there said he was told the $1,000 charge was because he is a ******* resident. I am not a resident of *******. I am assuming that $1,000.00 is to cover any additional charges they may want to apply upon turning in the rental. Another major concern is the vehicle they rented to me has a large dent in the passenger door a a few dents in the front engine hood. I asked the clerk about the damage before leaving their lot and he told me they have documented all existing damage and I should take pictures and video showing these previous damages. My wife and I both took pictures and videos before driving it off the lot. We will also take pictures and videos when we return it because we are concerned that they will keep our $1,000 for something we did not do. I have called the corporate number at Advantage concerning these hidden charges and they blew me off by saying they have nothing to do with the *** location. I am asking for your help getting a refund of the additional charges above and beyond the reservation cost of $180.83 that I was not told about. Also, I am asking what the best way to handle the damage concern of the rental should they take my $1,000. Thank you for any help you can provide! **** ******

Although I've had good experiences with Advantage Car Rental in the past, my rental experience in Orlando was the worst ever! My Reservation Summary shows $113.83 but I my credit card was charged $458.38 for my rental 11/26/24-12/2/24.I was aware of the refueling charges being added, but there were many more unanticipated fees. When I questioned the woman at the desk she explained some of the fees but I told her I did not need the insurance since I had my own. She said "Okay let me take that off, and I'll need you to initial here saying you waive the ****************** So I signed my initials on a keypad without actually seeing the contract. She was the only person working and a long line the whole time I was there so I tried to leave quickly. After getting Credit Card bill, I called Advantage and was told the charges stand since I signed for the insurance, even though I told the woman I didn't want it! She LIED and I had to pay for it since my initials are on the contract which came from the keypad I was told to sign to waive the insurance! I emailed them receiving no response, and no progress was made when I called them either. After reading reviews online, I'm seeing MANY stories just like mine so I'd like this company to be investigated for their "bait and switch" practices.

I picked up my rental in 3/21/25 and turned it back in on 3/25/24. I booked with this company thru ***********. I was told that my total for the rental and taxes/fees would be approximately $120 . When I went to pick up my rental. I was told there would be a $250 refundable deposit, which I was okay with . I was also told I had to pay for $13 a day for toll fees (which added up to approx $50) plus $180 for insurance and liability coverage . I told them I didnt need it because I had my own insurance . I also was charged an addition $23 for roadside assistance which I was unaware of. After every thing was said and done I was charged a total of $420. The worker was moving so fast and was not explaining to me what I was signed just telling me I sign for the rental to be able to drive off the lot. At the time I thought I was paying for the $50 toll fees and the $250 deposit . It wasnt until the next day that I noticed that I was never charged a security deposit and was actually charged $420 for the rental it self. I called the costumer service line and they were no help at all, very rude and just kept repeating that I had signed the rental agreement so their was nothing else that could be done . The lady even refused to give me a manager name and said that I could not speak with them. I felt scammed and lied to.

I booked a rental car at the Advantage Rent A Car MCO via Priceline. During the pick up process, I was clear that I did not want to purchase any additional services. I provided the counter agent my auto insurance Declarations page + copy of my AAA roadside policy. Later that day I received a copy of the rental agreement via email and found that many optional services had been added against my will. The counter agent misrepresented what I was signing. I immediately called the posted number and was routed to a call center. Their reps state that the only way to correct the issue would be to drive back to the original location (4 hours round trip). They will not connect me with anyone that can assist and have not responded to emails. I have called 3 time total and sent 2 emails. After a quick ****** search, I found online reviews stating that named the same counter agent and state that essentially the same thing was done to them. This location has 281 1 star reviews on Yelp out of 314 total reviews. My desired outcome would simply be to have someone from the company reach out and correct the improper charges and I would pay the originally agreed upon price.

I made a reservation for a rental car on ********** on 2/24/25. I agreed to pay $134.85 ($89.15/day for 5 days plus $45.70 in taxes and fees). It was stated that this total "included all mandatory fees and taxes". When I arrived to pick up the car, the woman at the counter mentioned purchasing insurance coverage for the rental but I verbally declined to purchase insurance coverage. I told her I already had coverage, and provided proof of coverage to her which she accepted and entered into the computer. After she had taken my credit card, and insurance info, and entered my drivers license information into the computer, she told me to initial in a couple of places using a stylus on the small electronic screen. I assumed I was agreeing to the standard items that we discussed, typical agreements when renting a car from a reputable company. She did not mention that by initialing the screen, I was "agreeing" to extra charges of a **************** Plan of $5.99/day, $29.95 total), or a ********************* charge (a hidden fee of $12.99/day, $64.95 total), or a "Partial Damage Waiver" ($14.99/day, $74.95 total). The woman did not discuss the Roadside Assistance optional add-on fee. She did not discuss with me the Parital Damage Waiver optional add-on fee, and already knew that I didn't want it because I had verbally declined their coverage options and provided proof of my own coverage. She also didn't mention an optional add on ********************* charge and in fact lied to me, stating that "We pay for the tolls". She also lied telling me that the overcharge was "just a deposit" that would be returned to me. This all happened at 12:30 am, after I had been traveling for 9 hours. The woman was also ******* me, telling me that they were closing. The emailed receipt I later received showed charges of $333.83, with an additional pending $250.00 charge. The mandatory taxes/fees added up to $74.83, also higher than the $45.70 in fees I agreed to when I made the reservation

My wife asked questions, she said don't be disrespectful. She didn't want anyone to ask anything that would cause them not to take ADVANTAGE of people. My wife is right, you call it ADVANTAGE so you can take ADVANTAGE of people. I want a refund back to the amount I was promised in my initial reservation which about $200.

Date of transaction: 2/19/2025 Paid $288.98 Car rental for 8 days Was booked on Priceline Trip # ***-428-215-17 on 2/10/2025 for $129.84 Arrived at rental agency to pick up car and they told me the price would now be over $500. I explained that I already had a booking through Priceline and showed them my booking reservation. The employee refused to honor my Priceline booking and cancelled my reservation. He then told me the best he could do was $288.98. He said that he had only 50 cars and hundreds of people that would take the car if I didn't. He told me that I would not be able to get a rental at this price on such a short notice. The company used unethical business practices and implemented bait and switch forcing me to have no choice but, to pay the extra money so that I would have a car. Many people standing inline were very upset because they were being coerced into paying more for their rental, in the same manner as I was. Advantage's practices are unscrupulous and dishonorable. Can you please help assist me in having the difference in price returned to me. I also want to protect other consumers from being taken "Advantage" of.
