On 4 June I contacted Mr. Air for the second of my tune-ups that I paid in my $160 yearly maintenance plan.
So “*****” shows up and goes through the basic steps, and tells me that the system needs a TXV valve and a filter expansion valve, and shows me some readings he says are very high. The prices seem very high and I told him that I have a 10 year warranty on this 4 yo system. He says I don’t, so I go through my paperwork and confirm that I do. Suddenly they “find” that I do indeed have a warranty in effect. The price is now $704 with a $75 “warranty processing fee” versus the original $1000+ cost.
Two days later another technician comes to install the parts, and says that there’s nothing wrong. All that was needed was a spray of water to relieve some debris from the outside fan unit, and all was well. Apparently the first guy didn’t get in cahoots with the second to sell unneeded parts.
So I call Mr. Air and the gal says, oh, we’re only going to charge you $116 for the second guy to spray some water into the fan. WHAAAAT!?! Well, no, that’s not going to happen. I contacted the manager “*****”, who expresses seemingly real concern about the situation, but offers nothing but lip service. I ask where my refund is, and he says, “oh don’t worry, my accountant will call you and arrange for the credit”. A week later, no call and no refund. I have disputed with the CC company, which has now been decided in my favor.
I thought that Air America was the worst AC outfit in South Florida, but take my advice, and do not believe anything Mr. Air tells you, and do not pay anything in advance. If “*****” shows up expect to get bamboozled for a lot of unnecessary stuff. Make sure you get everything in writing and / or text. Complete ********. Avoid at all costs.
Oh, and just to enhance the experience, the technician goes over to my ficus and proceeds to relieve himself before leaving, as captured by my Ring camera. Class act.

The First technician made a mistake second, we sent over second technician to do a second opinion to make sure the part was bad (it was not) if we were dishonest in any way he would have change it and just charged you, but we didn't. The owner was out sick and couldn't approve refund tin a timely manner, but you did receive a refund. We have been trying to just you to explain! You will never lose doing business with us and we guarantee this! AND YOU DIDNT!
