Chase roofing was suppose to reframe skylights if rotted wood appeared to remove and replace. I told them repeatedly that they did not lift skylights. They were not removed. How could they reframe without lifting skylights. Had a roofer from out of state look at it and he said skylight is hanging on by two tiny screws and wood is rotted around skylights. I had given a deposit but refuse to pay for work that is not done nor not agreed upon. I let it go figuring they were not doing anything recently they put me in collections for work they did not do. I am asking for my name to be taken off bad credit reports

      To address the customer's concerns:
Background on Work Completed: The work on her skylights was completed two and a half years ago, during which time we received no reports of leaks. As part of the original contract, we lifted and reinstalled the skylights to meet code. Due to the condition of one of the skylights, a full removal was not advised, as it could have caused further damage. In consultation with the county inspector, it was determined that "refastening to code" would best preserve the integrity of her skylight, which allowed it to pass inspection.

Permitting and Inspection: We transferred an open permit to complete this project and successfully passed county inspection upon completion

Communication: Our team, including ****, kept her informed throughout the project, especially regarding the adjustments needed to secure the second skylight without risking damage.

Payment Terms: As outlined in the contract, payment was due upon the work passing inspection. Since payment was not received following inspection, her account was forwarded to collections, which seems to have led to this and multiple bad reviews.
If the leaks were due to workmanship errors and not storm-related, warranty work can only be provided for services that have been fully paid for.

Leak Concerns: While the customer mentioned no prior leak, there was prior communication indicating that one skylight had been leaking before our work began. Were dedicated to addressing any legitimate concerns.

Storm Conditions: Since August, our area has experienced two named storms, as well as Hurricane ******, which brought Category 3 winds and widespread damage. Given the time since the initial work and the severity of recent storms, if there is any leaking now, it may well be storm-related.

The statements made in the contents were not true. I spoke to **** multiple times telling him that I hired them to reframe and remove the rotted wood under the skylights. He told me he would take care of it. The skylights were not lifted, and the rotted wood was not removed. As far as leaking that didnt come into the question because I didnt pay them because they didnt do the work. What I was complaining about is why would they put me into bad credit when they actually did not do the work, this is a fraudulent case and the fact that theyre claiming they did do the work when they really didnt. The inspector never agreed with him about not reframing or removing the rotted wood.  The inspector told him he could not pass him with the permit that he had filled out. He had advised him that if he wanted it to be passed, then he would just have to change the paperwork stating that he didnt reframe it and did not remove any wood. The county inspector told me that he was not able to see the work that they actually did. He was inspecting upon the tarring on top of the skylights or whatever it is they did to seal it. They actually did not do the work that they were hired to do. Why should I pay for work that was not done? Their attorney spoke to me and asked me how I knew that the skylights were not reframed or lifted, and I told her I was home that day, so for her to state on the original claim that it was lifted was not true. Now the statement saying on the one skylight wasnt lifted which she is admitting that they did not do the job. I never complained for the 2 1/2 years about the leak because I didnt pay them because I was waiting for them to come back to finish the work in which they didnt do. Now theyre trying to force me to pay for work that I did not hire them for by putting me into bad credit.

Tell us why here...We understand there may be some frustration regarding perceived differences in expectations. However, we want to clarify that we have fulfilled all obligations as per our agreement. We adhered strictly to local building codes and complied with the building inspection requirements, ending with a successful final inspection by the city. The purpose of what we were hired to do was to close the permit, as you decided to leave your previous contractor (letter attached) and hire Chase.
Regrettably, the outstanding balance remains overdue and has now been forwarded to collections. Payment must be made promptly for the account to be updated to reflect paid in full status.

I am rejecting this response because:

      Sincerely,

******* *******, Chase Roofing did not fulfill their obligations as admitted by their attorney when she admitted that the skylight was not lifted the skylight was to be lifted and rotted wood removed all cleaned and reinstalled. They will not receive payment for work they did not do, not now or ever. I have put in bad reviews for not doing work according to contract. If  necessary I will contact state attorney

I understand the skylights were not lifted however we followed all guidelines asked of us from the city inspector and reviewed each step and got approval from you along the way.

You had an altercation with the precious contractor as well sounds like you have misaligned expectations of what needs to happens to secure your skylight, what is building code and what is in best interest of your skylight and it's  proper attachment. We get paid to provide a service and in this case was to prepare a skylight for inspection and work with the city to close out a permit for you. We successfully did that  We also spent an considerable amount of time and energy on your project to make sure your permit was closed out with the city and logistics involved.

Threatening me does not change the facts. I have reduced your bill on our side as a write off and no warranty for lack of payment. I can't undo the collections mark on your credit without payment. It is already passed that stage on our side.

We kept you in the loop through the whole process and got your approval on each step. Your file has been turned over to collections and needs to be paid.

I am rejecting this response because:

      Sincerely,

******* ******* , I never gave approval along the way. I called several times sent emails . I sent certified letter to corporate to let them know that the work was not done . I will not pay for work that was not done. You play on words and I never threaten but I do give warning. You have been notified. I am sure the unfavorable reviews is not helping the company.  Putting me in collections when the work that he was hired to do that was not done is dishonest May be considered fraudulent.

Transaction date: April 2024 Total amount paid: $1,598 Business committed to repairing the leak. Leak was not repaired, causing additional damage. As per contract, warranty was provided to cover 6 months. Chase Roofing returned to the property address numerous times (*************************************) but was still unable to repair, causing additional damage to the property.I reached out to the business several times and they made no effort to repair the roof. they sent workers who by their own admission told me that sealing was not the proper way to repair the roof. This was communicated to ****** Chase in person and she confirmed that all employees that provided the repairs on behalf of Chase roofing had been fired due to negligence, including management. I asked for a refund, which was never provided.Chase negligence has caused further damage to the interior of the house and the roof, increasing my repair amount with a new licensed vendor to over $8,000. I have receipts and plenty of photos to provide extent of damage.

The leak is coming from the neighbors roof (a shared townhouse) and coming into her property. We have been there several times including doing free repairs and warranty work to try and support her while she sold her unit. The issues with staff were the manager kept listening to her and kept sending staff to fix a leak that was also on the neighbors house.l and since has been fired. We have talked to her repeatedly and she simply insists the issues are ours when the entire townhouse needs a roof replacement. I will be happy to give her a refund of $1598 but please notate our file that it is not because we didn't go and attempt to solve her issues. Sometimes th route you attempt to take to solve leak issues presents more issues down the road and her unit is an example of this. I will process a refund on Monday when we return from Thanksgiving.

I am accepting the refund - which I have asked for many times and have not received to date (I haven't even received a response from ****** or **** Chase before in regards to the refund before today. I will be happy to update the case once received.

Nevertheless, I am not accepting the response since my roof ended up being properly repaired by another company, ASP Roofing, who determined that the roof did not need full re-roofing and the damage did not come from the neighbor. You can clearly see the receipt that I have paid for all repairs (where they offered a one-year warranty) - I am happy to send link via email to ALL photos and videos of the repairs, to prove that the leak did not come from the neighbors.

      Sincerely,
