Construct 4U LLC came out to my home for a leak that I had. I let them know that I thought that the leak was in the chimney or in that part of the roof. ******* and I agreed on a price of $2,900 with a year warranty. He came out, changed the flashing around the chimney and some shingles, applied some silicone on the chimney and replaced some wood around the flashng. A few days (3 I believe) it rained and the ceiling leaked again. I had already repaired the ceiling from the first leak with ***** and paint. I called the guy who did it, who had left me his number and he came buy and repaired it again. Again it rained two days later and it leaked. At this point my husband which is almost 70, went into the attic to see if he could spot the leak and he did. He also put a bowl to catch the water to avoid damage and put a tarp over the chimney. In going to the attic, he miss stepped and broke through the ceiling. At this point I called ******* back and let him know that I wanted a substantial refund so that I can get someone else to come and fix it. He said that he would refund me $500 and he did. I had to call a chimney company to come and inspect the roof to see what was going on and he told me that I needed a new chimney cover and that he could not believe the poor repair that was done. I have a video where you can poke your finger through the sealant that was placed on the cover. At this point I have paid $2400 (500 refunded), plus the chimney guy, plus the cost of repairing both ceilings (the one with the stains and the one with the hole in it. I believe that Construct 4U LLC should have refunded me the least $1000 for all that I have been through, for the bad repair, and for the additional costs that I have incurred due to their faulty work.

    Business Response

Construct 4U LLC was initially contacted on September 4th since ************** had a leak on the roof.  On the 5th of September (next day) we did a roof inspection and identified the area of concern around the chimney based on the location of the ceiling stain and the inspection.  It was observed that the chimney flashing between the chimney and the roof was corroded and recommended that to be replaced.  Please see the pictures taken prior to the repair.  ************** agreed to the repairs of the flashing surrounding the bottom of the chimney and the repairs were performed on her house on September 7th.  While the repair of the flashing was in progress we also applied silicone to the chimney cap as remediative since we also noticed her chimney cap was corroded but we are not chimney cap fabricators. On September 27nd ************** contacted us again saying the leak was still active in the same spot.  A ceiling stain of roughly 6 inches in diameter.  On the 29th of September I sent another crew to inspect again and it was determined that the source of the still active leak was the corroded chimney cap.  On that day it was explained that in order to replace the chimney cap that would be another expense since it was not replaced.  ************** did mentioned about the incident that occurred while her husband went to inspect in the attic and accidently missed step on the ceiling.  I told her with all respect that unfortunately we are not responsible for that incidental damage caused by her husband.  I did offer to have one of ************ repairman to fix the ceilings but she did not respond and kept saying that I needed to give her a refund.  I did agree to ********* a partial refund of $500 to help her cover the expense of the chimney cap and gave her the contact of someone who could help her with that.  I then called the Chimney Cap guy (A Chimney Sweep & More) and asked him to go to the property to quote the piece.  He said after his visit on October 2nd that the Chimney Cap will cost $1,300.  ************** chose to hire A Chimney Sweep & More directly and she received the $500 refund.  Finally A Chimney Sweep & More charged her $600 for the repair since not all of it needed to be replaced.  So she had to spend only and additional $100 out of pocket to cover that expense.

I believe we have tried our best to help ***************  Very unfortunate that after all attempts and reimbursement, she still left this complaint.
