Refusing to fix leak in a new roof. We had them install a roof a little over a year ago and this year we noticed a leak in the kitchen right over our new cabinets. I went up on the roof and ran a line of Blackjack sealant on the valley seam to try and protect my new kitchen cabinets. I called them and they came out took pictures and the specialist that came out said he could see the area that was the potential leak and would go back to the office and take care of it. The next day I get a call and was informed because i put a line of Blackjack down that I voided the warranty and would be responsible for all costs. I believe that any home owner would have done the same thing and try and protect the inside of their home. I didn't lift any shingles or anything like I said I just put a line of Black Jack sealant. I also believe that they will look for any reason not to cover the defect and show no willingness or understanding to the home owner. We have now meeting with a attorney who after talking to on the phone said that he would be happy to take on this issue. I should of read the reviews on here which state the same issues.

Here is the email you received from our company: My name is Roger and I am the Operations Manager for Wolff Roofing. I am writing this email based on the last interaction you had with our office and our field representative. I reviewed your file with our owner and we came to the determination that any repair work we would complete would not be covered under warranty. The contract that you signed when we replaced you roof outlines your warranty. You are required to report water intrusion within 24 hours from the time you first see it. This did not happen. The delay in reporting the issue mixed with someone manipulating the roof, voids your warranty regardless of how much or how little was done to the roof. Daniel left you a voicemail stating we are willing to work with you, but you would be responsible for all cost incurred from repairing or replacing any area that was already "re-sealed". If Wolff Roofing finds areas outside of what has already been touched and determine they are warrantable, we would make those repairs under warranty.

I would prefer to properly repair the areas that were "re-sealed" and make any warranty repairs we find to restore your roof warranty. If you choose to move forward we would need to have a signed contract in place for the non-warranty repair.

    Roger H

    Operations Manager

Mr. D******, Our contract CLEARLY states there is to be no work performed on a roof that is under warranty PRIOR to you contacting Wolff Roofing, notifying us of the issue within 24 hours and allowing us to send our inspector to determine if there is an issue with the roof or if other issues in your home may be causing your water intrusion. You chose to do your own modification prior to contacting us, covering the area that you assumed is the cause of the leak with "blackjack sealant".  We have now sent our inspector after the fact.

In order for us to now properly determine if it was actually the roof that was leaking, we will need to remove the sealant you already applied and we cannot predict what additional issues that may cause... If that is indeed the case, you will then be responsible for the cost of any issues you have caused a s a result of your home repair.

We are more than happy to fix the untouched repair, as we stated to you, however, should we find additional issues as a result of removing the blackjack sealant from the valley seam in order to properly inspect the valley seam, then you will be responsible for the issues you created as a result of trying your own home repair.   This is more than fair treatment from any contractor.

Do not value their customers and Wolff Roofing not interested in making their customers satisfied. Poor workmanship on my tile roof. Cosmetically not appealing and damaged the exterior of my home. Refuse to fix their mistakes.

Had ******* power washed and was told I had some cracked tiles, not broken but cracked. **** from Wolff's came out and did a free estimate and confirmed that tiles were cracked and the cement around the roof vents was breaking down. He said I didn't need a new roof nor did I need tiles. He returned and sealed the tiles and patched the holes in the cement around all the vents. I highly recommend Wolff's Roofing as they were punctual, polite and honest. They are my goto roofers. Definitely a five star company.

Contracted to install a new roof. Job started and they tore off old roof and tar paper installed. The workers left and it poured down rain, went into the kitchen and had an 1 -2 inches of water on the floor. Called the roofer immediately and they sent the crew back to fix the problem, and take pictures. We thought that as they caused the leak that they would just fix it. Wrong. They refused to acknowledge any wrong doing and wouldn't take our calls or return them. Our house was up for sale and this caused us a lot of stress. Our realtor even tried to get them to fix the problem. We contacted a lawyer and was advised it would not be beneficial for us to retain him because of the time frame and cost. After 2 months of trying to resolve this they agreed to pay only 1/3 of total estimated charges. In order to get our house back on the market we had to spend money out of our own pocket. BEWARE

Would not recommend, I have had to do more follow up calls and emails that a customer should need to do. They started a job and was told I needed addition sealant on my composite roof which was an additional cost, fine. But when I questioned the price, nicely and asked them to confirm. They cut off communication, calls and emails go unanswered. Apparently you are not allowed to question them.

AVOID!! TERRIBLE!! No one showed up. I called and they claimed that they were double and triple booked and no one was coming. I had gotten four confirmation texts from them for the appointment up until the day before. Dont use this company - you will regret it.

This company takes zero responsibility for it's own actions and is unapologetic. Customer is 100% responsible for all of Wolff's work, including accidental errors. Buyer beware with this company. With so many options in the Sarasota area, please do yourself a favor and shop around. Do not sign anything-ANYTHING until you have a written estimate in hand prior to signing ANY of their paperwork. Read the contract before signing no matter what! Sounds like common sense right? My bad, I trusted them - purposely hired a "good" company - not some Daryl and Daryl... When the going gets rough, the owner just recites his contract and boasts how busy he is and how long he's been in business- good for him... too bad he's so short sighted that he doesn't care about what happened at my house... a roofing nail right through my gas line-- not their fault, not intentionally... it's all my fault because I didn't read my contract well enough. So sad they are proud of themselves for wiggling out of all responsibility. Shame on these guys.

The simple fact is, the workmanship and customer service stands out beyond anything we ever expected. And for that reason we will continue to recommend this company.
