I paid over $5000 for eight treatments of cool-sculpting. During the initial consultation, I made very clear that I had a few health problems, and I was nervous about side effects. I was assured repeatedly that if any health issues occurred, I would be entitled to a refund as long as I had a doctor's note. After my first treatment, I was told to expect itching at the treatment site for about a week. However, the itching continued for nearly 2 solid months. Over the next 8 months, I was rescheduled several times, but I always ended up canceling because I was dealing with multiple health issues , and was unwilling to add on the side effect of extreme itching to my list of problems. Finally, my health issues improved a bit at the beginning of 2022. So when Ideal image called to set up a new appointment, I was able to explain that I was uncomfortable with the extended side effects and didn't want to do any more treatments. I was told I could get a refund for the remaining treatments if I provided a doctor's note. My PCP wrote a letter in May 2022 explaining that I'd experienced negative side effects and shouldn't do coolsculpting again. The letter was rejected because it didn't provide a diagnosis. I explained that I had multiple health issues, and it was difficult to know what was causing the reaction. I got a letter from my cardiologist explaining I had been diagnosed with POTS. I provided medical literature that showed POTS could cause itching and rash, along with intolerance to temperature change (coolsculpting involves freezing cells). I hoped this would be enough. But Ideal Image stopped responding to my emails. I reached out repeatedly between May 2022 to now trying to find a solution. Each time they promised to escalate my concern to someone higher, and each time I received no further response beyond that. They didn't respond at all to my last contact at the end of September. I'm only asking for a refund for the treatments I paid for but will not use.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because the letter with a diagnosis they claim never to have received was sent on June 14th to employee *********************** and this generic customer service email: ****************************************. *********************** replied that same day to tell me the new note had been added to my account, and that she had a team reviewing it. She told me to reach back out if I didnt hear in a week. Two weeks later (June 28) I had heard nothing, so I reached out. AGAIN, ******* told me she escalated concerns to more employees so it would have more visibility. That was the last time I heard directly from anyone at Ideal Image. Later responses were ignored entirely. I have attached the emails referenced above.

I signed up for laser hair removal. I was promised(and paid) a lifetime guarantee. During my consultation I was pressured into signing instantly. I was told it was painless, and that if I had tattoos this would be nothing. She said there was numbing cream but noone needs it. They asked what type of hair I had(naturally blond) and they said it would be fine as long as it wasn't red. At my first appointment, I was told it would take 16 sessions to complete, and even then it wouldn't be perfect, because I had blonde hair. I asked what she meant and she said there were patches of blonde that would likely grow back, but it wasn't around the bikini line, so I shouldn't worry. I quickly realized how bad it hurt. I called back asking about the numbing cream and was told it was an additional fee and it had to be mailed, I paid the additional money, and during my next appointment, it began to hurt worse. The lady told me "the numbing cream is in the mind and doesn't work, sometimes it makes it worse because the area is now wet which interacts with the laser." I had health issues and had to cancel my appointment, and was not able to go back for a while. I went back one time, and then again had health issues that prevented me from going. I called to make an apt and they asked for card information. I asked why and they said it would just be for cancelations and would bill after. I asked what would be billed after and she said it would be an additional $250+ to visit since my contract had ended. No one ever said it had to be done in curtain time, and I was told I would never have to touch a razor again. When I explained this to the manager who called, he said "it's not my problem you didn't read your contract" and when I said I had health issues he said he would give 2 sessions and that a lifetime guarantee meant I get 90% retouch, and that it only required 5 sessions to be completely gone, everything after that was a retouch so they completed their contract.Business Response

The guest did purchase a Lifetime Guarantee on her contract. In regards to the numbing cream, it is a prescription that is compounded and does contain lidocaine and it to be applied at least one hour before the appointment and should not be "wet" at the time of the appointment. The contract is a 16 month contract not 16 treatments. Attached is a copy of the contract for review. We are happy to extend 2 sessions to the guest at no charge before the guest will need to pay the touch-up fee associated with the lifetime guarantee. We attempted to reach this guest via phone however it was a pick up hang up. An e-mail has been sent to the guest as well. Thank you.Initial Complaint

I had submitted an online inquiry about Cool Sculpting and someone reached out to me. I only was inquiring about pricing and was told that I needed to have a virtual consultation which I did on August 4, 2022. The consultant told me that I was a perfect candidate and would get great results with 8 "treatments". She gave me the pricing and told me that I qualified for 0% interest and I was lucky because that was not offered to many people. When I waivered and asked if I could think it over, she said that this was a one time offer and I had to decide now. I felt very pressured to sign up. As part of the "lifetime membership" that was part of my offer, I was told I could have 1 "free" service. I told her I was interested in the *** Photo Facial as my free service. She said they could definitely do that. I had my first Cool Sculpting appointment on 9.2.22. My tech told me that I would get better results if she used the larger treatment pads but that each pad was considered 2 treatments which would mean that I would only have 1 session and then would need to buy more to get the best results. I declined and said to just start with what I was originally offered. I inquired about the *** Photo Facial free service and the tech advised that they do not have that service at this location or any other N. CA location for that matter. The tech said that I would get 70% better results if I purchased the $187.00 enzyme cream and used it twice daily so I bought it. The bottle broke the first time I used it so I had to resort to shaking the product out of the broken bottle. I applied it as recommended and also used the compression garment as recommended and have yet to see any results. I sent an email to their corporate office to report my issue on 9.22.22 and they did not respond. My next treatment was scheduled for 10.11.22 which I cancelled through the app as I will be traveling. I noticed at that time my free treatment expires on 11.3.22 which I was not told about.Business Response

Ideal Image guests complete an in-person or virtual consultation with our Sales Consultants who recommend treatments based on our guests interests. After purchasing each guest then completes a health history questionnaire and is then assessed in clinic by a medical professional. During the in person assessment, the treatment plan can change for the guest to get the best possible treatment results. It is the choice of the guest to used what was purchased or change to the suggested treatment plan by the medical professional. We apologize that the *** service is not offered at the guests location and are happy to change the free gift for the guest to another gift of their choosing that is offered. In regard to the skin care, if the product was broken when received we could have sent out another bottle however it seems that the product broke after arrival and during use. I called Ideal image on April 25th to ask for an estimate of cost for their cool sculpting. I was transfered to a consultant named ********************************* and she opened a zoom call with me. ******* insisted I was the perfect candidate and whipped right into getting me signed up. I did say i wasnt ready to make the decision a few times but she pulled up their financing and told me we would just check to see if I was eligible. She used misdirection and story telling to get me past all the legal paperwork and before I knew it, I was financed for $3,612.86 and scheduled for the procedure. I know I should have been more diligent but I was very excited and she answered all my questions. At no time was I informed that there was no turning back. That once I signed up, I owed them the full amount even if I could not have the procedure! When I got my first bill I realized they charged all the interest up front with no way to pay it off sooner to pay less interest, which was what I had discussed with *******. I called Ideal image to request to use a different payment method to avoid this and was told I could, but would have to go through *******, who wasn't available. I left messages and tried other times and finally wrote an email on June 15th. When I received no response I wrote again on the 29th. Nothing. I called the financer, Ally, and they said if Ideal would refund them the money, they would close the account and refund my payments. I wrote to Ideal to request this be done immediately. I would pay with another method. I was transfered to ******************* who said she would start the proceedings to make that happen. By this time I had had other issues with appointments and no communication so I was done. She told me I needed to choose other procedures if I didn't want coolsculpting. I would not get my money back. I filed a dispute with Ally on ****. I have since been contacted by *********************** said there is no refund. I don't have enough characters remaining to continue.Business Response

I have a skin condition called Hidradenitis suppurativa for several years and was advised by a dermatologist to try laser hair removal to reduce flare **** I made a contract with Ideal Image and started to get treatments. The treatments helped at first, but then I got burned on my legs and had hypopigmentation, I continued with treatments in just my under arms and bikini area. I had another treatment in those areas, I seemed to have a reaction and my skin was extremely swollen, red and painful in both my underarms and bikini line, it caused a flare up of my HS in my groin. Once that all resolved I tried again and had my final treatment and the same thing happened. At this point I consulted with my dermatologist and she advised that I stop treatment and I agreed, this was March of 2022. I contacted Ideal Image and they advised me to provide a note from my provider which I did. From here on out NO ONE would contact me back, no one returned my emails, my phone calls nothing until July 2022 because I was so persistent. Finally someone was helping me again after MONTHS of nothing. So the same thing happened, the original doctors not was not sufficient enough so I provided another and the medical team denied it. At this point I am at a lost. I have a loan with Ally Lending that paid for these services. Ive paid about $1,100 so far and still owe $4,026 on the loan. I am extremely frustrated and Im not medically cleared to continue having these procedures. I do not mind paying for the handful of treatments I got, but Ive been paying every month on time my payment and I havent had any treatments done in almost a year. I just want to be refunded for the services I did not get, even if they refund directly to the credit card company.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because there is no need to speak with the nurse from the clinic, it has nothing to do with them nor is it anyone's fault. I have a medical condition called Hidradenitis Suppurativa that I was diagnosed with about 5 years ago now. I was recommended by my Dermatologist to try laser hair removal since my skin condition flares up with shaving. The first treatment seemed to work, I even got slightly burned on my legs that caused hypopigmentation that has now gone away but I stuck with it. My second treatment on 10/2/2021 I got my bikini area and underarms area done. After those areas were extremely red, swollen, and very uncomfortable. I used compresses and took an anti-inflammatory that helped it go away but several days after I developed a flare up of my Hidradenitis suppurativa and luckily was able to manage it at home and it went away. I went for my third and final treatment on 11/27/2021 the same exact thing happened, my skin was swollen, red, and very uncomfortable and again I got another Hidradenitis suppurativa flare up which I believe was triggered by the inflammation. I was away at college at this time and couldn't get to my dermatologist until that March, 3/10/2022. I spoke with her on what happened and we both decided that it would be best for my health to not continue with laser hair removal and she declared me not medically cleared to have anymore treatments. I have already communicated with corporate and provided TWO medical notes from my Nurse Practitioner that I am not medically cleared to continue having this treatment done. I just want to be refunded for the treatments I did not receive. I have been paying on a loan every month still and haven't had a treatment done in nearly a year. I only had 3 treatments and am pretty sure that I have paid for those 3 treatments already. Why should I continue to pay on a loan when I am not medically cleared any longer to receive this service. Even if the refund goes directly to my Ally loan, that would be great. I just want to be done with this and not continue to pay for something I am medically not able to utilize anymore.
Sincerely,

On July 13, after speaking to an Ideal Image Agent by phone I agreed to sign for a treatment. I was interested in having a procedure done for my high school reunion which was on the Labor Day weekend. I read the contract and it said no cancellation. Since I had made the agent aware of my time constraints I had not thought there would be a problem. After I signed the contract and had my card charged, the agent texted me back and said the nearest appointment was October 3 in **********. which was over 2 months away. She tried to get the appointment there but they were booked solid. She looked into ************* and they had a September 13, appointment available which was after the time of my high school reunion. She texted me she had appointment in ********, ******** which was a 6 hour round trip for September 8 and then one for September 6, 7, 8 in ********** ** which was was a 3 + hour drive. The last suggestion was ********** ** which was another 6 hour round trip , I have a job and I don't wish to travel that far for a procedure. I was not told prior to signing the contract that the time would be that far out for an appointment. I have a copy of the texts that were written. I told her that I wanted to cancel my contract as I had just signed it. She told me she would not be able to cancel it and she would contact the Ideal Image Lawyers. My credit card company was called and they told me it was not pending yet and I would have to wait till it was pending before I disputed my claim. I made sure that my appointment was canceled for October 3 for the local company. They did not have me in their appointment book anyway. I received a package in the mail from them later on which I returned unopened. I received a text about a week ago stating I had an appointment October 3. When I called the local office they had no appointment on the books for me. My card has decided that it will not dispute the cost for Ideal Image.Business Response

Scheduling services is a breeze. My first services were performed at the Lancaster location. The staff were superb, followed up post procedure, and offered blankets and compression wraps. At the KoP location, the services were ok, the procedure was standard, had to request compression bands and at the point told that, it doesn't really offer anything outside of comfort. Fast forward to attempting to cancel a procedure and get a refund for services that weren't rendered, I've been given the run around over several days, with promises the manager would call me back. The staff said the following:I could get other services (that I don't want)I could gift the procedure to someone else I needed a letter from my doctor to cancel an elective procedure (nothing in the contract states this)When I mentioned this, the staff member said "oh, I was told this is the policy"I noticed is the offering to "try" different procedures with 1 free session...this is misleading because we can't actually TRY with a free session. This seems to be a tactic to rope customers in. For example, I was not able to try cooltone, The sales rep said i would have to purchase 3 additional session in order to use the fresh session to try a procedure marketed as freeBusiness Response

All of the services offered by ideal image are skin related and can trigger another asthma attack, in addition to the allergic response (again, including anaphylaxis). I am willing to have the medical directors at Ideal Image access and have scheduled an appointment for November 3 ***** of ******* Location) as I will need to have the service to trigger the response, so the doctor/RN's/Medical ************** can witness the reaction in real time. I was lured into doing a zoom call when all I wanted was a consultation in person! At the zoom call I explained to the intake person that I had a tummy tuck and was not sure if I qualified for this procedure! The very next day I go to the ************ office to get an expert opinion. At this time I was told I already purchased the service. I was then evaluated and told I was not a candidate. The woman said she saw clearing her notes I had a tummy tuck and the intake person clearly knew I was not a candidate and never should have signed me ** in the first place. At this point she sent notification to someone to cancel everything. I walked out the door only to get a bill in the mail saying I missed my first payment. Then the texts started coming on my phone about a late payment and THEN bill collectors started hounding me! After this I got a box with cream I never ordered or expected to get. I dont use cream! I called every one imaginable to try to get this resolved. I called and asked to talk to corporate and was told someone was going to call me which never happened . I still am getting bills with ***** late fees , bill collectors calling ! This has been going on since June . I was told by someone I talked trying to resolve this that the cream they sent me was non refundable so I threw it away cos I do not use or need cream! Then I was told there is ****** administrative fees! I cant begin to tell you how many people I talked to trying to resolve this problem! They all have attitudes and basically said they are holding me to that contract. There is nothing that can be done! This place has made my life a nightmare and I regret ever contacting them! I read reviews and saw this is their usual practice! This company needs to be put out of business. I did not qualify and thought when I was told that I would never be subjected to all this harassment! I bought nothing and I am paying nothing!Someone owes me for all the time and energy I have used to resolve this nightmarBusiness Response

I had laser hair removal on my arms and legs on August 15th at 8:30. I left with what looked like small red marks that turned into brown scabs on my shoulders (R is worse) and upper thighs. When the scabs fell off, the skin was white underneath. I went to the dermatologist yesterday and they confirmed that this was scarring from the laser that *** likely be permanent.Business Response

At the very end of March 2021 I took a loan for cool sculpting treatment and was able to complete my first treatment shortly after (May 5th). Unfortunately because of a scrape I was unable to do treatment on one area (thighs) and could only do the other (abdomen). This meant I still had a couple of treatments available. It was so hard to make and get an appointment, with them usually being booked up months out. I had to cancel due to covid once as well. I tried to make another appointment earlier this year and was told I could no longer get the services, that I had already paid for in full, because it had been more than 12 months since I financed the treatments. I had no idea that there was a time limit on when I could use them or I wouldn't have bothered with it. I would like to either receive the treatment I paid for or receive a partial refund since I wasn't able to get the full treatment I paid for.Business Response
