November 22, 2022 New South came to the house. Charged $85 for warrantee work. Told that the seal in my front window was broken and they would replace it. Also needed two night latches for a bathroom window. Ten weeks later arrived with new center front window and installer told me that it could not be installed because they need to remake the two side panels also. This would take another 10 weeks to make. Asked about night latches for bathroom window. Didn't know anything about it. **** would bring next time. Ten weeks later scheduled install, received call the day of the installation. One of the panels was made wrong, and had to be remade. No calls from New South since. It has been 7 months since this process started and all that has happened is I am out $85.Business Response

After Hurricane ******** had two exterior doors that had to be replaced. I called NewSouth Windows and Doors and ************************* came out to our home in November of 2022 and took measurements to replace the doors. On January 20, 2023, I gave ***** a deposit of $1275 to have the two exterior doors replaced. I was told the doors were a special order and would take **** weeks for installation. About a month later a gentleman came and measured a second time to be certain the measurements were correct (they are both standard size exterior doors). After waiting months, on April 27th the installer arrived with two doors that were both two inches too small. How does this happen? I called the company while the installer was still here and was told they would have to reorder the doors and it would take another three months. I stated we could not wait another three months so I needed to cancel the order and requested my deposit be returned. They refused. I have called and texted ***** with no response, I called and spoke to ***** (the manager) who is refusing to allow me to cancel the order since we have a signed contract (even though they are not complying with the agreed upon time to fulfill the contract). His answer was for me to call my attorney! Seriously?? Thats your response to your customers for your inability to correctly measure for a door? I asked ***** how they could measure twice for special order doors and send two incorrect sized doors (again, these are standard size doors) and that they sent 35 1/2 doors. How can a company who installs doors for a living be this incompetent? I have lived up to my end of our contract (given a deposit and waited patiently for them to be manufactured). At this point I just want my deposit back so that I can get the necessary repairs done on my home without further delay. Any reputable company would apologize to the customer and issue a refund.Business Response

NewSouth has reached out the ************** and we are ******* the new doors that were incorrect. We apologize for the error and will deliver the new door as soon as possible.Customer Answer
Date: 05/31/2023
Complaint: 20015174
I am rejecting this response because: After waiting the 4 months for the doors to be installed the "special order" doors were not the correct size (the installer advised that they are not a "special order" sized door, they are a standard size door. Why the dishonesty?). While the installer was here, he called the company and I spoke to them indicating that I was very dissatisfied and that I could not wait another 3-4 months for the correct size door to arrive and I would appreciate a refund. After the installer left, I immediately called the company again and spoke with ****** and again stated that I DID NOT want the doors reordered and wanted a refund for my deposit ($1275). I requested to speak with a supervisor and ****** stated that ******* was on vacation until Tuesday and would call me upon his return. I waited several days and did not receive a call, so I called the company again. I spoke with the regional manager and relayed everything that happened and requested a refund. All he cared about was that we signed a contract and that the doors were already ordered. I repeatedly said that I did not want the doors reordered (I could not wait another 3-4 months) and that I wanted a refund. So here we are, a month later (AND 5 MONTHS TOTAL) and they are still refusing to refund my deposit and are insisting that I have to purchase these doors regardless of my many requests to cancel the order after they could not provide the service agreed upon.

Ordered windows and doors in September 2022. Was told we should be getting them mid October. Finally got the windows in December. After three different people came to measure the door, they still managed to send a door the wrong size. Took months to get ahold of someone and get a new door ordered. Door installation day comes and they sent the same door that they brought in December. Contractor contacted the office. After hours they found the right door and it was installed. After the job was complete we went over the work that was done. Two screens were broken. All the windows look like poor quality and craftsmanship. Contacted the office and discussed with the service manager just to find out that the window glass was manufactured on the wrong side. We were told someone would come out to check. No one has come. No one has called us back. After spending over $35k you would think you could at least get decent windows and/or customer service. They have all our money and we have defective windows.Business Response

Mz. *********************************,
Your concern about the excessive 'butyl squeeze out' (sealant) will be addressed at final service/caps and covers. While initially, the squeeze out is a bit unsightly, it is not a reflection of the quality of the window. Butyl is essential for the window to operate as tested. We will clean the sashes where the butyl squeeze is present. Replacement parts identified on the May 5th visit are on order with a tentative completion date of 06-02-23 at our Tampa manufacturing plant. To install the entry door you originally wanted, structural alterations would be required. After learning of this, a different door was selected that would not require alteration of your existing structure. Upon receipt of the replacement glass in our ****** facility, we will schedule completion of the items referenced above. I appreciate your patience as we bring your project to completion. We value you as our customer.

This is not a complete list of what will be replaced. While we have tried repeatedly to contact the person who inspected the windows, and claimed all the windows were made poorly, we have had no luck. So Im not sure what was ordered. The front door is still not completed. We are still waiting to hear why all our windows are crooked as well and what will be done about that. We were told there was going to be meeting about this and we would be informed of the solution. We are still in the dark.

Jan 16/17 2023 New South Windows installed 7 new storm windows. Jan 18th I called the office to complain about the caulking work done on the windows it is very sloppy. Feb 16 an employee was at my home to repair a window that they damaged, while he was here, I showed him the caulking and he said it is unacceptable by company standards. since then, I have at least 9 calls to the office to get this repaired and it appears that they are avoiding me. each time I call I ask for a return call and I don't get one. My latest call was April 12, with again NO return call from them. It has been 4 months of trying to get the repairs completed. Each time I call I am given a different excuse as to why no one can get assigned to get here and do the repairs necessary.Business Response

Re: Screens do not fit properly On February 9, 2023, New South Windows came to install 9 windows we had purchased from them. One of the old windows had rotten wood which was replaced and all the new windows were installed. Only three of the nine screens were installed. On February 24, 2023 New South Windows came back to stucco and drywall around the problem window. At that time, I complained to the worker only three windows had screens installed. He installed the remaining six screens. He noted that the screens were very tight and had great difficulty getting them in the window. Before he left, he called his boss, ******, and told him that the screens were too tight and needed to be replaced. On February 27th, the inspector from Charlotte County came and inspected the windows. On March 15, 2023, New South Windows came and put the caps on the windows. At this time, I showed the worker the screens which do not fit properly. He agreed with me and said that he would put it in his report that the screens needed to be replaced.I heard nothing from New South Windows so I called them on March 20th regarding the screens. They told me someone would contact me.Because nobody called me, On March 23rd I again called New South Windows and threatened to call the Better Business Bureau if no one reached out to me. Someone called me back that day and said she would have ****** call me as she was more knowledgeable.****** did not call. No one called. So today, April 3rd, I am writing this complaint in hopes of someone telling me they are going to replace the screens and when that will happen. These windows are supposed to be guaranteed for life. From what I can see, there is no customer service at this company.Business Response

I purchased 5 windows and the permit was opened on my home in May, 2022. So far the windows have been replaced but the stucco around the kitchen/lanai window has not been completed. I have emailed/called the business several times and I have been told once before by *********************************** that he would get someone on the repairs. We signed a contract with New South on 7/3/2021 to install impact ***************************** on our home at a total cost of approx. $120K. Since that time, it has been a series of mistakes and total lack of communication. After multiple appointments for measuring, most of the windows were installed in December of 2021. The rest of the windows were installed several months later. Several more months passed with no communication on the status of our doors. When the doors finally arrived, the installers determined that the measurements were off and the doors would not fit our home. Another measurement was later done and the doors were re-ordered. They were scheduled to be installed towards the end of September 2022. When the date came, the installer removed a single door from the back of our home and a pair of French Doors. When they brought the new doors out to install, they were the wrong style and not what we had ordered. They temporarily installed the doors on the two openings. We ended up having to place two by fours across the doors when Hurricane *** hit our home in October of 2022. Another employee came out after this and again measured everything and went over our order to make sure that the style and throws were correct on all 17 of the doors. I think this was sometime around the end of 10/22. After several more months of no communication of any kind, we again tried to reach New South. Several phone calls were not returned so on 2/15/23 we went into the office to see a manager. We advised ***************** the service manager of our experience. He assured ** that he would look into it and find out the status of our order and get some resolution for us. After another week of no response, I left a voice mail message for him which has not even been returned. Now we are going on another three weeks since we sat down with ****** with no communication. I have even emailed the owner of the company twice with no response. Our permits are expiring 3/20/23Business Response

Complaint: 19563438
I am rejecting this response because:The complaint has not been resolved. They still have two doors to do because the doors that were delivered were not what we had ordered (again). The architectural window has to be replaced because it is the wrong size but it has been installed for over year leaving the perimeter exposed to the elements during that time. Our permit expired and when it was renewed, they claimed on the extension that the expiration was due to ** not being available for inspection.
We requested that they send our original installer to install the doors and they said that they would. Instead they sent two other crews. (NOTE: We have no complaints about our installers.) The doors that were installed are also not keyed the same so we have multiple doors using multiple different keys.
We still have yet to hear from anybody of any authority nor have they ever acknowledged the inconvenience and added expense to us by this process dragging on for nearly two years. At this point, we do not know how many more months will pass before they can finish the job. The lack of communication continues.

Customer reviews posted on/after July 5, 2024, will be published indefinitely unless otherwise voluntarily retracted by the user who submitted the content, or BBB no longer believes the review is authentic. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this company, please let them know that you checked their record with BBB.
As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
