**NOT HEALTH INSURANCE - SCAM***This is very concerning this exists. I was able to call them out and be fully refunded. But beware this is NOT HEALTH INSURANCEUniversal Health Fellowship, Inc.
Date: 09/15/2023
UHF does not and has never sold insurance. UHF offers health cost sharing programs to individuals and their families. All UHF program materials and its sales agents explicitly and repeatedly state that its sharing programs are not insurance. The reviewers e-sign statement, which she had signed, states, I understand that Im not buying insurance coverage. The reviewers description of scam is unfounded and incorrect. Call(ing) out UHF for not offering a service it consistently says it doesnt offer is ridiculous and misguided.Review fromChristopher K

Non existent customer service. Call the customer service number and you'll get a broken record asking you to have your member ID ready. I just need to know why they didn't cover a fairly normal ER visit for a lung infection and I now have a $2k bill. Should have stuck with my old providerUniversal Health Fellowship, Inc.

UHF would like to assure the reviewer that its customer service is far from non-existent. When members remain on hold during our regular office hours (Monday-Friday, 8:30am-8:00pm ET), any wait time is brief with very rare exceptions. A member services representative will join the call promptly and assist the member with their issue expeditiously. Regarding the matter the reviewer brought up, UHF has reached out to him on several occasions during his membership, so far with no response. We will continue to do so, unless he elects to once again contact the ****** Services line on his membership card during our regular office hours. UHF looks forward to discussing his issue with the member at his earliest convenience.Review fromMichelle H

Worst lies ever told to me! Expected insurance basically threw my money away! Promised insurance and got nothing, told my providers would be paid! Exact opposite! I now owe my providers due to the fact I had NO INSURANCE STAY AWAY A MAJOR RIP OFF!!!Universal Health Fellowship, Inc.

The reviewers statement that she was promised insurance is false. ***s programs are presented and sold as health cost sharing programs, and never health insurance. Universal Health Fellowship, Inc. (***) is a non-profit health care sharing ministry whose Universal HealthShare members make voluntary contributions to assist each other with medical expenses. *** does not and has never offered insurance of any kind. *** goes to great lengths to be certain every member understands this before joining. For that reason, as part of the enrollment process all members, including the reviewer, confirm their understanding of that distinction. In the reviewers signed application to join ***, she specifically confirmed I understand that I am not buying insurance coverage and that the sharing program is not a major medical plan and is not subject to the minimum standards required by the *************** Act. Immediately upon joining ***, the reviewer was sent a welcome letter, welcome booklet and sharing guidelines, which go into great detail explaining *** and repeatedly emphasize the fact that sharing programs are not insurance plans. In fact, the statement This is NOT insurance appears on the bottom of every page of these materials and the statement This program is NOT INSURANCE COVERAGE appears on the *** membership card. The hundreds of thousands of providers that belong to the MultiPlan/PHCS Ancillary and Practitioners Network do in fact accept the *** membership card, entitling the cardholding *** member to receive discount in-network rates and the ability to share their eligible medical expenses with other members of ***. This in-network physician information is also available in the documents she received. If the reviewer had bothered to look up and visit any of these in-network physicians, she would have had none of the monies due to the providers she claims she owes.Review fromEliza L

Stay away from this company! I have been a "member" for almost a year and have NEVER been able to actually use my enrollment toward my healthcare, as there were NO DOCTORS "In Network" to where I lived!! My representative was friendly in the beginning, but after maybe a month or so, was hard to get a response, as he always had an excuse to why he didn't respond. (Although, in my initial enrollment call, he stated that he is "always available for any questions, you can call, text email"). He used several different excuses as to the delays of response, and when he responded, it was not even with the information I needed! I had to escalate my complaint to his direct report, and he was more helpful in one day than my representative.I regret "donating" any of my money, as I was refused a refund of any money I worked hard for! This company IS NOT WORTH IT! I hope this helps deter anyone from using them in the future.Universal Health Fellowship, Inc.

According to UHFs records to date, the reviewer has neither purchased nor participated in any UHF sharing program and has never been a UHF member. She has also never spoken with any representative from UHF. Whatever grievance she states in her review clearly is directed toward some other organizations product or service, not a UHF program. We honestly do not know what she is talking about.Review fromSophia G

This company is practicing fraudulent business activities & lying to lure you in for business. The disgrace of lying to hardworking people about their health care is abhorrent. The agent lied and shared that they could cover my doctor visits here on the east coast. Their insurance isnt available to be utilized because no doctor accepts their business. This company isnt doing proper ************ will proceed with swift & immediate legal action if Im not canceled & refunded immediately. I was sold a plan solely based upon lies & needs that cant be met.Universal Health Fellowship, Inc.

UHF neither practices fraudulent business activities nor lies to its members. The reviewer has in fact never been in contact with any UHF representative, choosing instead to purchase a UHF health cost sharing program through a third-party sales representative. UHF is not an insurance company. It is a health sharing ministry that provides programs to its thousands of members where they can share their eligible medical expenses with each other. There are over ******* physicians nationwide in the MultiPlan/PHCS Practitioner and Ancillary Network where UHF members can receive health care at reduced in-network rates. The reviewer should have been made aware of this national network of physicians available to UHF members prior to the programs purchase. The reviewer has since cancelled her program and is no longer a UHF member.Review fromJohn G

Do yourself a favor and stay away from this company! I enrolled in August of 2022 and my provider immediately had problems reaching them and getting basic tests authorized. There were also issues with billing me for premiums and acknowledging payments, but after a rough start things seemed to smooth out, as my premiums went on auto-pay and I had no claims. However, today, 5/9/23, I received an email stating that my policy would be canceled per my request on 12/10/22. Yes, both those dates are correct. Not only did I not request cancelation, but I was not notified until 5 months later of the cancelation. In addition, UHF drafted a final payment on 12/22/22, twelve days after the cancelation of my policy. My agent questioned them to which they had no real answer. They claimed they left messages on my phone, which is ****************. They notified him and me today, 5 months after the fact. They told him I could continue the policy if I pay the 5 months of premiums since the cancellation. Fat chance. They are either fraudsters or completely incompetent. Stay away from Universal Health Fellowship.Universal Health Fellowship, Inc.

In recapping the events behind the above review, UHF has noted that there was an automated billing error that resulted in the reviewer, **********, not being billed for his monthly sharing program contribution for any month in the year 2023. Since the reviewer neither submitted any medical expenses during those months, nor did he communicate his not being billed, the account appeared to be both inactive and unpaid. Despite his claims to the contrary, the reviewer was notified by voice mail message and email on several occasions as to his UHF membership status, all to no response. UHF cancelled the membership in early May. ********** finally got in contact with UHF following the cancellation, and was offered either a new membership, or, if he had sharable medical expenses to submit from the months of ******** he could pay the back membership contributions from the affected months of the expenses. The reviewer chose neither option, and is no longer a UHF member.John G

Either the respondent from UHF is either misinformed or blatantly lying. As stated above, the only notification from UHF was on 5/9/23 stating they would be cancelling ********* on 12/10/22, yes, 5 months after it was cancelled. Typical CYA response from an absolutely incompetent company. Again, stay away from them. And I think it's telling that they are not BBB accredited. I wonder why???Review fromWesley T

I would give it 0 stars if I could. They flat out lied about the coverage. They told me that my daughters pediatrician was in the network. Only to find out that it was not. Then when I called to ask about it they basically just shunned me. I know insurance itself is a scam but these guys are something else. DO NOT USE THEM!Universal Health Fellowship, Inc.

Out of network physician appointments in a hospital is a non-sharable medical expense for the *** sharing program the reviewer was a member of. This important detail was presented in the Guidelines explaining his specific program that he acknowledged receiving at the beginning of his membership. The ******************** representatives he spoke with neither claimed that the pediatrician he wanted to visit was in-network, nor was he ever shunned by *** even as he became extremely agitated and verbally abusive over the phone. The *** representatives in fact patiently tried to explain why this out-of-network expense was not sharable. Despite this, the reviewer has since cancelled his program. Universal Health Fellowship is a health care cost sharing ministry; a faith-based community of members who share in each others eligible medical expenses, and not a health insurance company a point emphasized often in verbal and written communications shared with new members and interested parties.Review fromBridget R

Do not purchase this plan! I canceled this plan via email on March 9th and they are still reviewing to refund me despite taking funds out of my bank account after I wrote that I wanted to cancelUniversal Health Fellowship, Inc.

To cancel UHF membership, the member must call UHF ****** Services over the phone to verify that it is indeed the member choosing to cancel. Email notices of cancellation are not HIPAA compliant and cannot be used to terminate ones own health program. The reviewer was informed this via her voice mail by UHF ****** Services later the same day her emailed cancellation request arrived, but chose not to call in her program cancellation until well after the next monthly membership cycle began.Review fromD. I just spent over an hour on the phone with them trying to enroll me, making clear from the moment I called that we had a qualifying event that allowed us to enroll outside of the open enrollment period, telling them that we wanted insurance, asking again and again for policy details so that we could look at our doctors and find out the coverage that we would get For our doctors visits, not until they had switched us over to the verification department did we ever get any policy information from them and when we got it it was in the way of a text with a link for us to go to sign and except, at no point did we get any email regarding any policy information whatsoever! if this isnt a scam, I would be shocked, they kept saying that because it was outside of open enrollment and Obamacare, limits and garbage like that that they couldnt provide details, obviously, they wanted the money without giving details of the plan until the last second hoping that you wouldnt actually read it, the bad news I did read it, and it clearly states this I understand that I am not buying insurance coverage. The sharing program is not a major medical plan or any other type of insurance and is not subject to the minimum standards required by the *************** Act. Program sharing is handled in accordance with the Universal HealthShare Sharing Program Guidelines (Guidelines), which is available online at www.universalhealthfellowship.org/guidelines no, its not insurance at allUniversal Health Fellowship, Inc.

UHF **************** could not find record of the reviewer discussing a Universal HealthShare health cost sharing program with any UHF representative, nor one of UHFs third-party sales agencies. The reviewer was clearly given incorrect information about UHFs sharing programs from an unknown and probably uncertified source. UHF sales and customer service representatives and certified agents state clearly, early, and repeatedly in conversations with interested parties that UHF health cost sharing programs are not health insurance. UHF wishes the reviewer could have received accurate program information from an authorized UHF representative so he could have made a more informed decision about a health care program best suited to his situation.D. UHFs response to this is ludicrous, not only did I speak to them at length for almost an hour and a half, and asked them repeatedly to provide me with detailed information on the plan, which they systematically declined to do, and told me that after Obamacare, they werent allowed to do that outside of the open enrollment., That was the first red flag. Fortunately, I still have the enrollment authorization they sent on one of the tabs of my browser on my phone! Ill keep it, just in case I need to provide it to refute any further inaccuracies from UHF. At the very least , you need to be honest that you were not disclosing that youre not insurance until the very end and then only when I directly read the excerpt from the agreement you sent, or if youre not going to admit that then youre a scam, but the last thing you should do is try to claim that you were wronged somehow, I can only imagine how many people are not as detailed as I was in the questions and get scammed by you into buying non-insurance.Review fromGlenn R

Do not use. Unethical and shady. I was signing up until I was able to get on ********* I was on a monthly for five months. Then they canceled on my 65th birthday without any notice. I never even used it so they made an easy $3 thousand on me. I had not finished my ******** signup yet on some social security delays and Universal Health just left me without healthcare. Their broker never cited an automatic cancellation provision and I spoke with them last week just ahead of the cancellation and they never mentioned it. Add incompetent to shady. Then I called again this week and they finally found someone who could explain. They wave the Christian **** as a Unitarian Universalist health care ministry, but they are dishonest, misleading, and greedy. And callous and indifferent. *********? Praise the Lord and s**** the customer.Universal Health Fellowship, Inc.

*** thanks the reviewer for sending in his comments. As stated in the *** Sharing Guidelines, which the reviewer acknowledged receiving at the onset of his membership, no one aged 65 or older can be a member of Universal Health Fellowship. The reviewer became a member while he was still under that age limit. *** concurs that the member should have been given additional advance notice of his upcoming membership termination on the occasion of his 65th birthday. And the third-party broker who sold the member the *** program 5 months prior should have also informed the member that his membership would conclude on his upcoming birthdate. *** regrets that neither advance notification occurred, though those membership eligibility details were available to the member via his member portal.Universal Health Fellowship is a non-profit medical cost sharing ministry that coordinates voluntary contributions for the sharing of eligible health care costs among plan members united by their non-denominational faith in ethical, moral, and spiritual principles and traditions. *** completely disagrees with the reviewers litany of unduly disparaging adjectives used to describe the fellowship and its management.
