You freeze my card on Saturday at 4:45 pm. I sat on hold for almost an hour. By then your customer care is closed til Monday. You see what the problem is right? I will be getting all my money and going somewhere else.

I had a mortgage with Ameris Bank and their affiliate company, Dovenmuehle. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. How bad? I finally paid off my mortgage years before I had to just so I wouldn't have anything to do with them ever again. Yeah, that bad. I wish someone had warned me as I am now warning you -- avoid Ameris Bank and Dovenmuehle like the plague.

Horrible customer service. During Covid, they offered me the opportunity to forgo 3 mortgage payments. I took advantage of 2 of those months but started paying again on month 3 when my employment situation became clear. Ameris bank promised they would contact me about how to make up those 2 payments. 3 months later I called them. They said they were processing the paperwork. I kept making monthly payments. 1 year later, I get a letter from them saying I am in default and to contact them. But they never answer the phone. A week later, I finally get through. They claim they called repeatedly but I never answered (more on that later). They send paperwork. I fill it out and return it, and continue making payments. About 6 months layer, another letter saying I am in default. More hours on hold to be told they had tried to call but I never answered. They want the packet filled out again. I convince them to use the old one. They say everything is fixed. Two months later, a letter saying I am in default. This time, I borrow money to just pay off the 2 months. It is not worth Ameris bank incompetence. 1 month layer, a call from them. They want to collect my monthly payment (it is set up electronically to pay them). But here is the kicker: I get a phone call and answer, but there is silence on the other end. I thought I hung up, but didn't. TWO minutes of silence later, Ameris Bank starts talking. Gee, I wonder why they say they called me but I never answered... because you leave minutes of silence. Horrible bank. Worse customer service. God awful record-keeping. I would accuse them directly of dishonesty, but I am not sure if they are just that incompetent.

We appreciate our customer making us aware of their concern. Reasearch revealed that multiple attempts were made to reach the customer via automated system but were unsuccessful. A Supervisor called the borrower and attempted to communicate with the borrower regarding the account and history, however the call was terminated.

Customer service is of the utmost importance, and we and we sincerely regret that you feel your personal experience may have fallen short.

Ameristar claims that multiple attempts were made. Yet no calls show up on my call log.

Yes, a supervisor did call me. Several months after I took out a personal loan to just resolve the issue and not deal with them. He did not know what the issue was, despite saying he had read the "research." He offered no solutions, no information, nothing. It was a further waste of time so tye call was terminated.

Do NOT deal with Ameris Bank. They do not keep records, they do not care about you.
