We approached ChickBuilders about our renovation in July 2023 under the assumption she was a general contractor. She had great reviews from friends and had good reviews online about projects she had recently completed in condo buildings around *******, so we were excited to work with her. We told her we were looking for a GC for a large renovation on our condo. She said she could help, agreed to our buildings' construction policy, and we signed a contract. She did most of the renovation with many delays and then towards the end, the finish work was lacking and our friend, who we referred her to for his renovation, started digging into her licenses and found out she was not in fact a licensed contractor. She had passed along her business license to all of us, which says she's a contractor on it, but she was not actually licensed in the state of *******, or anywhere for that matter. We confronted her about it, and her new "manager" said she was never a contractor and we had misunderstood; which was not what she told us initially. We fired her and have recently received at least one call about ************* being placed on our property for non-payment, along with our friends unit. We are one of 6 properties that she hasn't paid the plumbing bills on. We have calls/are calling in to other sub-contractors to see what other bills she hasn't paid. She will not answer our calls.

We hired ******************************* as a contractor to begin work on 10/12/2023 with a completion date of 7 working days. She told us she was licensed and insured and would be able to get permits for the work she was doing on our home. We agreed to a total price of $10,000 and paid 75% up front ($7,500). We encountered issues such as poor work, delayed timelines, workers not showing up or only working half days. We repeatedly brought our concerns to our contractor and she responded in a negative way each time. She began asking for extra money for tasks that she started and then afterward deemed "larger scope." After the project went on for a month, we finally provided a deadline of 11/17/2023 when we expected our project to be completed in full. She then refused to purchase any more material until we paid her 100% of her fee prior to her completing the job. We decided to look for her license online and were unable to find one. We also checked with county records to see if she was licensed with the county and were unable to find any license for her or her business. When we confronted our contractor about this and asked for her license number she continued to report that she was licensed in the **************** however refused to provide a license number. She threatened that if we reported her we would be fined for hiring an unlicensed contractor which made us believe that she really is not licensed. She was completely unprofessional and her behavior makes us believe that she never intended to complete our project. she never took responsibility for her actions and blamed everything on us stating it was our fault the project was not complete.
