On October 4, 2023 I entered into a contract with Certified roofing and gutters for the replacement of my roof. The contract specified the type and quality of the material to be used and included repairs to the roof decking soffit the chimney cricket and facia board and the installation of ice and water shield around all vents and valleys of the roof. The job was completed on October 27, 2023 and immediately afterwards I noticed that the roofing shingles were blowing off the roof. On closer examination I discovered that the roof was improperly installed and some inferior material was used to do the job. We found the following: 1) there was no 30 pound felt underlayment used 2) The underlayment that was used did not cover over the peaks on the roof 3) Rotting bad roof decking was not removed and replaced 4) Ice and water shield was not applied in some of the valleys on the roof and none around the roof vents. 5) Shingles at dormer over garage blew off the roof the day after installation 6) Drip edges were improperly installed in most areas. 7) flashing at chimney cricket and stucco were improperly installed and 8) Roof on left side of front ***** was modified creating pockets for possible intrusion by birds and animals.

      To whom this may concern,

We offered to fully replace ********************** roof with the correct felt paper that he wishes to have on his home, along with correcting any issues that he has pointed out that he was not pleased with, he declined.

I have also sent him an email with our terms and conditions which is found on the back of our contract which states that we have to deduct $2500 or 15% of total job cost ((whichever is greater)), which he has also declined. Please advised what is the best method to move forward.   I have attached the back of the contract for your reference, (Line item #2).

      Best Regards,

I am rejecting this response because:

This contract was not canceled the job was completed and the  issue is that Certified roofing and gutters did not honor the contract by using the wrong  materials and did not do the job according to the specifications. They also created damage to the chimney and gutters which caused water intrusion damaged to the chimney and soffit areas. They admitted that the job was improperly done by offering me a full roof
replacement but after they cancelled the installation date on several occasions (over 2 months) they told me that they would only replace the roof with the same inferior material that was used the first time. I objected and got another contractor to look at the roof and they found numerous  issues with the installation and material used some code violation and damages to the chimney gutters soffit and facia board and former. I had to pay $20,072.96 to repaired the damages and have a new roof installed (see attached contact from roofing company) It is my opinion that Certified Roofing and Gutters should be compensating me for the $20,072.96 which I had to pay to fix their damages and to install the new roof however I am prepared to accept a full refund of the $14,796.09   paid to them and nothing less to resolve this matter at this time.
      Sincerely,

      To ************************,

      Complaint: 21494166

I am rejecting this response because:
I think that Certified Roofing and Gutters are playing games and are disingenuous in their efforts to resolve this matter Everyone at Certified Roofing and gutters (***************************** and *******) are fully aware that it was *************************** who called to inform me that the same material would be used to redo my roof except for the underlayment even though I had a detailed discussion with **************** previously regarding the numerous other issues with the roof and he agreed and took pictures and assured me that they would be corrected when the roof was re-done. However when the material was about to be delivered he called and told me that the underlayment was the only thing that would be changed and that I would have to pay extra  to have the other problems fixed. It was at that point that I decided to get an inspection done to the roof and the inspector found numerous breaches of the contract ( inferior material, poor workmanship, code violations and water intrusion damages,) The cost to correct these faults and repair the damages caused by Certified Roofing and Gutters  what is $20,072.96. (see attached)

My only compromise therefore is a full refund of the $14,796.09 I paid to Certified Roofing and Gutters
      Sincerely,

      *********************************

Certified Roofing installed a roof on our home in May 2018, they provided me with a 5year warranty on labor and 30-year warranty from the manufacture. I called the company in 2022 to inform them of a leak. I was told someone would call to make an appointment to come out and view the problem, that never happened. After the beginning of **************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** followed up. Bad Roofing Job On July 8,2019 I signed a contract for this company to replace my roof through a insurance claim as a tree feel on my home and cause severe damage.I was charged $19,500 to replace roof. The end of ******************************* one of my bedroom. I followed up with company after I noticed the ceiling. They came out put tarp up on roof in that area. Since they have not followed up or came back. I have reached out several times by phone and spoke with Indya the lady who answers calls. She has promised me that some one would follow up mutiple times. I have reached our my text. I have had my daughter called to have been told the same thing. My roof is now leaking in the Kitchen. My daughter reached out again only to be asked the same questions as 2021 and 2022. What is the address and who do you want them to contact your mother or you. I am a elderly woman with limited resources. I gave them the job because of them saying they would take care of me only to not honor there warranty and give me the run around about fixing. There contract states 3 yr labor warranty and 30 year manufacturer. My roof started leaking within a year and now spreading. 20k is a lot of money to not have a job completed correctly and not honor the faulty job. I am ****************************************************************************************************************************************** and my home to fall apart.I would like this rectified and them owner there warranty especially with it showing damages with in the 1st year.

The above homeowner and her issue(s) has been resolved on March 2nd, 2024.

There was an issue with some malfunctioned shingles which Certified made sure to pay for new shingles along with paying our lead roofer to go back out and correct the problem.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is semi-satisfactory to me. The lead roofer came out explained where the problem was and what caused leaks from the initial roof replacement.  I am waiting a call back to finsh the inside where the outside damage caused damage to inside ceilings. Overall I am a glad the root problem has been resolved.

      Sincerely,
