Date April 15th
RoofCrafters LLC Did a project at My job and there were many reports of nails sighting. My one of my coworkers had told us to be careful because there were nails in the road. They were working on the roof from before we had gotten to work til after we left. I went outside and noticed my front drivers tire was flat. Before confronting the issue with anyone I called roadside assistance and a guy came to place my spare tire on the car. I ask him if he can check for a nail and he said it was indeed a nail. I went to the pediatric office after being told they were the owners of the building. I ask the woman there who would be in charge of reimbursement of my tire because it was fine before I got there. She said the roofing company. She also said that she had been told of nail sightings on the property. I then left and went to the people that was working on the roof. I believe I spoke to an ******* who then gave me his supervisor *****'s number. I called ***** and was told that I would be reimbursed. A while later ***** called and ask me to send him pictures of the tire because his manager wanted to see if it was there nail. I sent pictures the next day when I got to my dads so that he could patch my tire until further notice. The nail wasn't present but the hole was. I then called ***** and told him of this. He said it was fine that they just wanted to see the tire. After that I never got contacted. On April 23rd, I contacted ***** and ask what was going on with the situation and was then told Via Text that his manager said he wasn't doing anything about it. After asking why he said because they wanted to see a nail. I then tried to contact the manager and have never received anything back. It is now may 4th and I haven't received feedback pertaining the tire.Business Response

We hired Roof-crafters to replace our roof, and paid the required 40% down to have it done which began Thursday August 1, 2024. On Friday afternoon, August 2, after the vast majority of shingles had been removed, a heavy rainstorm came through the area. The workers on the roof were not prepared & did not have tarps on the roof and had to scramble to get off the roof, grab tarps, and get back on the roof but they were too late. The deluge of rainwater had come into our house through the roof and saturated the insulation, affecting **************** on both the second story & first story of the house. We were contacted, as we were out of town but had a friend staying at our house, & we called Pivotal Restoration asking them to bring commercial ********************** which they did on Saturday morning. As we had to wait until Monday for offices to open, we called to file a claim first with their insurance company, & then because we were told it may take much longer to do it that way, we filed one with our insurance company only to be told that because the roof had been removed, the claim would be denied by our insurance company. (More info can be supplied if needed). We proceeded with the claim through Roof-crafters insurance company who then told us weeks later that since they had a subcontractor doing the work on the roof that day, we would need to pursue their subs insurance company for the claim! We were furious & we suggested Roof-crafters handle it and then pursue the subs insurance through subrogation but they refused, so we began with this next process. Then we were told their insurance company said the sub stated they were never hired to do this ********** were never on site! So they denied the claim. I copied everyone in an email expressing ************************* clearly there was a case of insurance fraud. In any case I have been copying the CEO of Roof-crafters & still we have no resolution. Holes remain in our **************** with holidays ahead.Business Response

All information has been given to the subcontractors insurance and our insurance. We do not have control over how fast the insurance company processes the claim. I agree with the client that they have taken too long to do so, but that is completely out of our control.Customer Answer
Date: 10/29/2024
Although the business replied that they have no control over how long their insurance company takes to file the claim, Roofcrafters and its own insurance company forced us as their client to go after the subcontractor's insurance company instead of using Subrogation to handle the issue between ******************************* and the subcontractor's insurance company. This process has tripled in the time taken to process a claim because Roofcrafters rejected our claim after 3 weeks of working on it, and told us we as the client had to deal with the subcontractor and their insurance **** which is a subcontractor we never hired or had anything to do with. Now that their subcontractor repeatedly claims to never have been hired and never worked on our house, there is certainly insurance fraud somewhere in this situation. If ****** Construction was not hired to do the work, then we have a right to know who did do the work on our roof. If ****** is lying about not doing the work, then again, we are in the middle of an issue between Roofcrafters and ****** which we should never have had to be in the middle of. Roofcrafters should have handled this in the beginning, and yet as of now we still have holes in our house over 8 weeks later.Business Response
Date: 12/16/2024
The client is a little confused about the process. They are not having to pursue anyone or anything. We filed against the subcontractor's insurance AND we also filed against our own insurance to cover the damages. We have handled this from the beginning. What the client does not like, and quite frankly nor do I, is the insurance companies going back and forth and the subcontractor is trying to say they didn't do the work. Both insurance companies have to go through their investigative processes. I agree with the clients that it has taken too long, but I can not force or rush the insurance companies unfortunately. We have liability and excess insurance to handle these kinds of unfortunate accidents and it does take time to go through the process. I do believe our insurance company has made a settlement offer to them and we are discounting the balance owed to us by the client to cover the rest of the claim amount.
Sincere Thanks,

Roof repairs in Dec 2023 and Feb 2024. Continued leaking. Blamed chimney. Claimed rotted wood repaired which was not fully done. Sent workers stating no problems. Evaluated after repairs by engineering firm, indicated substandard work and rotted wood still present. Company never responded to communications after May. Cut open drywall on ceiling after Debby.Business Response

Roofcrafters is not providing a refund based on the following terms:
The client experienced leaks after hurricane Deby. Storm damages are not covered under warranty.
The client supplied us with an engineer report that confirm the initial roof installation, not by Roofcrafters, was poorly done and the damages viewed were from years of leaking, not current leaking. The client was only charged for work that was performed. There may have been additional areas that needed concern, or that were not installed properly, however, we were only contracted to repair a leak area. That is the only area we repaired.
The client was told on the initial visit by our estimator that the chimney was a concern and that an expert in that area would need to be contracted to address the leaking there. The engineer report states that there is still leaking in the chimney area.
We have photos of before and after repairs if needed.

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because:
1. Leak never fixed
2. Informed rotted wood dealt with. UNTRUE
3. The attempted repair tried to nail sheathing into rotted wood.
4.Engineering report continued to indicate rotted wood and substandard work.
Shocked at the dishonesty of response.

They replaced my flat roof with a ******** ******* low slop roof. The roof leaked right away. They came back twice to apply silicone to corners. The roof still leaks. Also they did not replace rotten / loose decking as per the contract. I emailed Dave, the local representative twice. The first time he said he would come take a look. When he did not come I emailed him again and he did not respond. I had another roofer look at it and he said he would have to rip up the roof, replace the rotting boards and re-do it. I called the head office in Bloomingdale GA on March 8th April 22nd and May 14th. Each time I was told I would be called back to schedule someone to come fix the roof. No one has ever called back.Business Response

We have gone out and inspected the area, he has leaks coming in through his masonry on the house, not the roof. We are meeting with the client tomorrow to show him where the water is coming in. He will have to hire a masonry contractor to repair the old masonry area that is leaking.

On July 25, 2018, I entered into a contract with Roofcrafters Roofing to install *** ********** ** ******** ********, color Shakewood on the main house on my property located at **** ****** ****** ** ********* *******.
In August 2023 I hired a contractor to repair the fascia boards around my house and was told that the reason my fascia boards are rotting was because the roof was installed incorrectly, the roof does not have an overhang to protect the fascia boards.
I called Roofcrafters and asked for someone to come out and inspect the roof. A gentlemen named ***** ******* came out and agreed that the roof should have an overhang and asked the contractor to make a list of materials he use to make the repairs and labor cost. A couple of weeks went by, so I called *** ******* and he did a complete flip and said that nothing was wrong with the roof and it's ok for the roof to be installed that way. All I want is for Roofcrafters to repair the roof with an overhang, because if the roof is not repaired my newly installed fascia boards will be damaged.Business Response

Hello,
**** ****** roof is warrantied under ***. She spoke with a new associate when she called our office and she should have been directed to call *** to make a claim. The paperwork that she submitted to the BBB states her warranty is with *** and has her warranty number listed on it. She can simply call ***, give that warranty number and they will start a new claim for her and have someone inspect the roof.

Customer owes money for additional wood rot that had to be replaced due to poor condition of the decking by leaking of old roof over a long period of time. This was communicated to the client. We can not roof over rotten wood. We reduced the amount slightly to help the client out and to resolve the issue. Client will receive copy of warranty paperwork when the invoice has been paid in full. If we are not paid in full, we will have to file a lien and lawsuit to recuperate our expenses to put this clients roof on according to local building codes. Building codes must be followed to stay compliant with the law and pass inspections by the county. All of this has been explained to the client.Customer Answer

We hired Roof crafters to complete a job at our church. We had a leak in the church soon after the roof was put on In March 2016 and July 2016 they were call out for several leaks in the church, which they said they found the problem. They were called again for several more leaks and said they could do a water test, which did not fix the problem. I call **** several time after that to have the roof repaired in February 2017, January 2018, February 2018 and several other times after that I spoke to others in 2020 to 2022. The supposed repair wasn't completed. Meanwhile its leaking in the interim. We still have water leaking into the church and it is getting worse. They are now telling me they that we don't have the 15 year craftmanship warranty and a GAF Lifetime Warranty that was told to me by **** when they put the roof on the church. We don't feel like we should have to pay for their bad work and supposed repair since they have done absolutely nothing to remedy the problem for which we hired them to do. They just took over $15,000 and ran hiding behind a GA address. They are the worst of the worst. We went to a Lawyer to see if we can get them to repair the leaks. Please help.Business Response

Please be aware this matter is under litigation and both parties have attorneys.
The client was helped under their warranty, just as they stated. However, they have been told multiple times upon our inspection- as they stated, we went out several times, the building has not been well maintained and they have a lot of wood rot around the whole perimeter. The building is seeing water intrusion from these areas. This has nothing to do with the roof. We have offered to quote them to do wood replacement but they want it done for free, which is not something we can do. We were not able to come to an agreement, so we will let the courts decide.

I am rejecting this response because: Our building is well maintained. The Leaks started right after the roof was put on. You should not have to call a company back 3 to 4 months after they put on a roof, if they did what they said they would.

As stated in my previous response, the client has been advised several times that the damage and wood rot need to be replaced. The warranty she is referring to is a lifetime material warranty, for material defects. iI does not include labor costs, damage to the shingles from weather, projectiles, trees, etc. nor does it cover components of the building that are not the roof. I have a file of pictures I can send showing all of the wood rot and a few small areas of shingle damage from a bullet lodged into it and what appears to be from a tree that has been removed. bThe picture file will not go through the portal due to the size of the file. Please advise an alternate method to send. The client has hired an attorney, who has been in touch with our attorney for a few months now. They have tried to help her understand these facts so that she can make the necessary repairs that are not covered under warranty.
