Scammers paradise. No real offers after paying them additional $15 to promote ad. Other folks complaining about same thing. not happy at all with service. Their system is broken, you can't set up bank to receive money for any sale. Attempted to contact them, via their app, their contact us page, even on their X account. No response. Don't use AutoTrader.

I will NEVER buy another car from them. Ever.... I purchased my car in September of 2024, and I STILL (NINE months later, as of June 2025) have no tags. Autotrader kept giving me excuses about how my title work was taking additional time, and that their "third party title company" was responsible for handling everything through DMV. After fighting with them relentlessly for months, I was finally able to beat a tracking number out of them for my title request through DMV. Once I got that dislodged, DMV sent the title back to Autotrader, who promptly LOST IT. I had to request a duplicate title through my DMV, and am working through that process now. If you're thinking about going through Autotrader PSX (private seller exchange), you may want to contact the seller directly about doing your own title work. Don't trust Autotrader to handle it for you. I will never, ever again purchase another car through them, and if I ever do find another car on their site, I'll cut them out of the process (you can do that, and I highly recommend it). This has been, without a doubt, the worst purchasing experience of my life. Never again.

I listed my car for sale on Autotrader, pricing it well below comparable dealership listings. Instead of genuine buyers, they flooded with lowball offers mostly around 35% of my asking pricefrom Autotrader.com itself. Autotrader.com wants to buy your car at a deep discount. They do not want to help you sell your car. Essentially, I paid $50 just to give all my contact information to autotrader.com who tried to exploit me.Autotrader repeatedly blocked my ability to list the car unless I uploaded unnecessary documents, including emissions paperworkeven though the cars emissions are valid for another year and a half. Its become clear to me that Autotrader, now owned and operated by dealership interests, has no real intention of helping private sellers. Their business model seems designed to frustrate and pressure individuals into giving up and turning their cars over to dealers. It was a total waste of time and moneyand feels like a rigged system, not a marketplace.I sold my car using another marketplace for more than double what autotrader.com had offered me. They are totally taking advantage of people. How do they live with themselves? Taking my $50 listing fee, and then using my contact info to try to fool me into believing my car was worth 50% less. What a rip off! Shame on you Autotrader!

I called autotrader because I could not see how to connect with seller. Autotrader wants you to send a copy of your ID to verify you as a person before you can speak with someone about a car. They of course say they will keep your info safe. My info has been stolen from 4 other organizations who say they can keep your info safe which apparently they cannot. So giving my info out there to more people is not a safe thing to do. I have cash in hand and trying to set up a time to test drive and can't even set that up. To the sellers out there: sell your vehicle for cash. Do not sell to some stupid person saying stupid stuff online. Problem solved.

At first things were going OK and service was fine. I then sold one of to cars I had listed. The purchaser wanted to go through their bank rather than Autotrader. We did so. I went to mark the vehicle as sold: selected the correct vehicle I got a screen asking why which did not confirm which vehicle it was relating to (but I made the terrible assumption that by going to the vehicles page it would apply correctly) Wrong. It delisted the other vehicle. When I contacted to fix it they said they have to forward it to IT which would take 3 to 5 days. We are heading in to top car sales weekends. They were unwilling to just give me a code to re list. So I basically just paid them jerk me around . Im glad I didnt complete my other car sale on this platform now that I see how their customer service works. Best part: the agent was still trying to sell me on using them even though Id already paid for two listings?Beware. They should be repairing issues related to their website immediately and at no cost to you. The app only works as a buyer and the main site is really buggy.

*********** Waukee ********* Dealership works with Autotrader. They advertised a 2024 ***** Silverado 1500 for $63,326. I called for a printed quote with all the fees and taxes. First, they changed the advertised price to $66,326, and then when I questioned why they changed it they told me that it is no longer available. I still see the truck advertised on Autotrader, even though they say it isn't available. They are intentionally misleading the buyer into thinking the truck is $3000 less when they have no intention of selling it for that price.

I would give zero stars if I could. If you plan to place an ad, DONT. You will get nothing but illegitimate inquiries. Scams. AutoTrader does NOT screen these inquiries. I placed an ad in the morning and within an hour my email was blowing up with messages from AutoTrader about an inquiry. All fake or scammers. They would not refund my $49 for the Ad.

Some of the worst service ever. No calls returned ever! It cost me $1500 just for shipping but it was sitting on their truck for 5 days! There was WAY more damage than reported and the drivers side only opens 9 out of 10 tries! I am beyond disgusted and would never shop Auto traders again! They could at least fix the damage!

*** site is very unstable and rarely works. *** transaction was delayed because the site kept crashing. I told them I had to be out of town for a couple of weeks, and no arrangements were made to get the documents to me, so to meet the deadline, I will have to waste a day and drive almost 400 miles. *** day of the transaction, we were unable to confirm pickup and the seller was unable to confirm funds online, so that added an hour to trying to complete the deal.It was and still is a complete clusterf***.

They make it difficult to contact someone. A legitimate business does not do things like that! I signed up and I still can't communicate with anyone. It's a sketchy site! They also want to much information, just to communicate with someone. Bunch of BS!
