This company takes advantage of consumers with it's unfair terms of service and fees. Beware, unexperienced sellers and buyers. Do not use them for your car sales transactions.

TRED is an unorganized business that puts consumers at risk. BEWARE of this company whether you are buying or selling a vehicle. I listed my vehicle on TRED, which was not great as it didnt list car details correctly on many websites (one of the main reasons I was using TRED). But the main complaint is that TRED reneged on a closed transaction putting me in ***** way (and they didnt care at all). After receiving confirmation of sale via an email with a bill of sale, TRED informed me to transfer possession of vehicle to buyer and to remove insurance from the the vehicle... But it was too good to be true; hours later a TRED representative called and informed me that they were unable to do the transaction and that they will not release my funds and had to cancel the transaction! It gets even worse I had already transferred possession of the vehicle to the buyer (who lived hours away) and removed insurance from my vehicle (per TREDs guidance). TRED left me high and dry. They didnt call me back for an entire day. When I spoke with a manager, he gave me the email address legal (at) TRED.c.., which I NEVER received an email back from. They removed my car from their website and thats it! This is horrible company - BUYER and SELLER BEWARE They have no internal systems or checks and balances to check on what types of sales they can/ cannot do. They don't care about customers; in fact a representative said that ************, the *** of this ~ten person company wouldnt have the time to hear my concerns. They have misleading advertisement that states something to the effect that you never have to step a foot into a dealership, which is not true. I had gotten my car back from the potential buyer with hundreds more miles on it then when I had tried to sell it. I consider myself lucky considering the car wasnt damaged, despite having 500 more miles on it.

I ended up on their website when I googled Carvana. When I got to the point where I was asked for bank information, I realized my mistake. I cancelled immediately and was assured that my listing was canceled. when it continued to appear on my credit card no longer as pending but as a charge, I called again and was assured again that it was canceled. That was 3 weeks ago. I have now disputed the charge formally with my credit card company. Meanwhile I suddenly have spams from people who have some of my credit info. EARLIER REVIEWS HERE ARE CORRECT! THIS IS A BOGUS OPERATION. THEY ARE COLLECTING YOUR INFORMATION AND SELLING IT!

Someone or somehow my personal phone, business phone and email have been provided to dealers without my consent. I've been receiving texts and calls nonstop from dealers from all over the country who confirmed that they received LEADS from autotrader.com. When I contacted Autotrader.com they could not provide any information or discontinue this spam. Again, all dealers confirmed that they received LEADS from autotrader.com. How is this possible? I never signed up on Autotrader.com.

Before I listed my used car for sale, I check online reviews of various online platforms. But I clearly didn't dig deep enough, as autotrader.com gets lots of positive reviews but in practice it is not a good service. I did not receive one legitimate offer or contact after paying $49 to list my vehicle. All the contacts I received were from scammers. From further reading AFTER THE ***** it's clear what I experienced is widespread. There needs to be more warning to consumers about this company. I'll never use them again,

I recently sold my truck using TRED. Even though I do not live in one of the cities that TRED uses I was contacted by an interested buyer that lived in my area.We agreed to handle all the finance and title transfer ourselves. The buyer had me take my vehicle to a mechanic of their choice for inspection, then we took a test drive. Funds were transferred between banks and the title transferred. I called TRED and informed a representative of the sale. He was very courteous and professional and stated he would waive any fees. It doesn't get any better than that. I would happily do other transactions with TRED.

The negative reviews consistently match my experience. MANY scammers contacting despite AutoTrader claiming they monitor that. Their related company AutoCheck has inaccurate info about my car which required a FOIA request from me, the owner, to adjust. When I called AutoCheck they told me I needed to buy a subscription just to see the inaccurate negative information about my own car! (How did they get the inaccurate info to begin with??) Additionally, AutoTrader has my car listing as Priced High even though its 4-5K LESS than similar vehicles from dealers and other sellers. Theres just no reason for it to be this terrible of an experience and its ethically questionable. Maybe theyre not happy generating revenue selling ads & are turning to other methods. No fault in growing a business. Unfortunately the methods theyre using detract from the customer experience and feel like a SCAM. How DOES BBB rates businesses? I did not expect this from AutoTrader.

Purchased a car. Website product is a great idea, but their execution is horrible.Tried to finance a car through their website, received an initial estimate of a ****% APR. My initial application was rejected, with reasoning being that I didn't also purchase a warranty or GAP insurance. I have near-perfect credit and far more than enough liquidity to be able to cover the risk of financing the car. Once I updated the application to include the warranty, the approved rate was *****% - frankly offensively high.I then proceeded to check my emails and noticed there were THREE hard credit inquiries issued to qualify my loan, rather than the typical one. So not only have they completely pulled the rug out on the financing terms, they have also materially damaged my credit score through their poorly documented process.
