I paid ******** dollars to rebuild my transmission * I was given a 1 year or 10 thousand mile warranty * 6 weeks after receiving my truck the transmission started doing the exact same thing which is my truck wouldnt shift to the 4th gear * I returned my truck to ******* and told him the transmission is doing the exact same thing * Its not shifting into 4th gear * He kept putting me off week after week * He finally told me that he has repaired the transmission , but he cant get my truck to start ? I had my truck towed to another mechanic shop to find out why it would not start * The new mechanic shop told me with in a hour , that there was a ground wire disconnected and thats why the truck wouldnt start * They also did a check and told me that the transmission has not been repaired * They said that my truck still needs a transmission * I towed my truck back to ******* at Main Street Transmission) and gave him the receipt from the new shop stating that there was a ground wire disconnected and thats why it wouldnt start and my truck still needs a *********** * It has now been 3 months that I have been waiting and ******* has not fixed my truck and he refuses to return my money * Hissecretary ( wife ) told me that he needs to just return my money * In her opinion ******* is incompetent , unprofessional and basically a Con man * I use my truck for work and I have been out of work for 4 months waiting on him to repair my truck * I have contacted a lawyer and I am about to file a law suit * The lawyer told me to 1st file this complaint with the better bussiness bureau ******* makes up excuses like my truck rims are big or my truck has electrical problems * The other shop said my truck doesnt have electrical problems * There was a ground wire disconnected and that the problem is still that my truck needs a transmission *

Back in February 2023, ************** brought his **** Cadillac Escalade to our shop to have a used transmission, that he provided, installed in the vehicle.  We put new valve body gaskets on it, a new TCC "Torque Converter Clutch"Solenoid on it as well as a new torque converter, fluid and filter.  When we got finished, the transmission did not work like it should.  We did not build this unit, we just installed the used transmission as the customer requested.  ************** picked the truck up, paid us $1103.47 as agreed and left.  He said he would be in touch about possibly getting the transmission built since the used one did not correct the issue.  He brought it back in March 2023 after deciding to have us rebuild the transmission.  This is where it gets confusing. ******* told ************** that it would be best to build the unit that was originally in the vehicle and he agreed.  We built it, new input drum, frictions and steels, band, pump seal, pump gasket, pump o-ring, wiring harness (because it was leaking), EPC solenoid, piston set, front input seal, another new filter and new fluid. We reused the torque converter that we put in the used transmission because it was good.  We also installed a external transmission cooler on the vehicle as well as draining the transfer case because it had the incorrect fluid in it and filled it with the correct fluid which is GM Autotrak II.  ************** picked up the vehicle when it was finished, paid $2207.00 and left.  Also we had told him then that the size and weight of the rims/tires would decrease the life of the transmission because it puts a strain on the drivetrain. This article on the "Tire Review" website dated June 27, 2022 explains it:   "Installing bigger tires on trucks is about as American as baseball, country music and apple pie. Unfortunately, big tires can also go hand-in-hand with something less enjoyable: transmission failure. You can guard against problems and better troubleshoot chronic failures by knowing the unintended consequences of oversized tires on the transmission, especially the role gear ratios play in managing torque as it travels through the drivetrain. The biggest issue with installing taller tires is the increased strain on the drivetrain. When you increase the radius of a tire, it now requires more torque from your driveline to turn that larger tire. This generally does not have much of a negative effect on the engine components themselves, although it will now require the engine to work harder to maintain the same speed as before. The transmission components, on the other hand, especially the clutches and bands, take the brunt of the abuse. Clutches and bands will begin to create excessive heat as they struggle to operate under higher constant stress. Excessive heat cycles will cause the friction surfaces to start slipping, and at that point, the transmission will need to be overhauled. If the core problem of the failure is not addressed increased tire size problems will occur again and again."  It would not have an immediate effect on the transmission but it would not last as long due to the rim/tire size and he is pulling a landscape trailer as well.  In May 2023, ************** contacted us and stated that the transmission was giving him problems and because he had a 12 month / ****** mile limited warranty, we told him to bring it back so that we could look at it.  We are short staffed as many businesses are nowadays, just my husband ********** our son and I am in the office. It did take us some time to get back to him but we had spent ALOT of time trying to figure out what was going on with it, he pulled it out and reinstalled it about 6 times, we replaced the drum again, several other parts, new fluid and filter and every time he took it on a test drive, it was not right. After hours and hours of research, he finally determined that the unit/transmission that he built and installed in the vehicle was not the right one for that vehicle.  Some manufacturers change designs on things sometimes and it can create chaos for a repair shop trying to get the correct information.  We were finally able to get the case ID number off of the unit and figured out the other transmission that we had from ************** (the used unit) was the correct unit for that year model.  So, he dismantled that unit, cleaned it and swapped every new part over to that one, put it back together and reinstalled it in the vehicle.  When it was time to crank the vehicle and refill with transmission fluid, the vehicle would not crank. So again, we are at a standstill with this vehicle that has cost us 10 times over in what we profited on the job originally and in time.  After a week or so of trying to get it to work and dealing with a "wiring nightmare" under the dash, we contacted ************** and told him that he would have to have it towed somewhere that specialized in electrical issues and then we could deal with the transmission if there were any problems after that.  I referred him to ******* Automotive in Fairburn.  He had it towed out of our shop on June 5, 2023. The vehicle was returned to us on June 16, 2023.  The correct transmission is also having problems.  When you are building a transmission, there is only 1 way that it goes back together and when it "air checks", that means that the unit is good and should work without a problem.  The problems that the transmission is having are caused by a control issue and it is controlled by the electronics.  Electronics are controlled by the electrical, the *** (computer for transmission) and the wiring which are basically a mess under the dash.  We are still dealing with this vehicle...and would love for it to work and for the customer to be happy but we are dealing with something that is out of our control as far as the transmission.  When ****************** mother came by and talked to "his secretary/wife", I am his wife of almost 20 years and I NEVER, EVER would have said that I thought my husband was incompetent, unprofessional or a Con man!  ******* had mentioned to me that he was getting to the point that he would probably end up giving him his money back but he wanted to try a couple more things first before he gave up.  I told her that electrical was not his specialty, not that he couldn't do it at all.  We cannot repair ***************** electrical issues for free just to repair the transmission.  A transmission rebuild does not include any electrical parts.  We understand that ************** has been inconvenienced by this but we are still dealing with this under his warranty, not charging him for the hours upon hours that we have spent trying to repair something that was not caused by us in the first place.
