This business preys on the most vulnerable of our society. They lack any type of compassion, ethics, or morality. They charge excessive fees and have a captive base where the car they impound leaves the victims without any recourse. The owners of Shaffers Towing LLC, a Husband-and-Wife team, are gouging the public without any moral or ethical compass. There needs to be an oversight into the fees they charge and a public review of the contracts they are awarded. They are rude / immoral people making excessive fees off city and state contracts for impound services. I urge private businesses and the public to avoid using their services. This was extremely evident when I went to help one of their victims who had a car towed at 11:00 PM on Wednesday July 23rd. I offer to pay their fees to release the car that was impounded. This transaction took place on July 25th at 11am 36 hours after Shaffers impounded their car. They see the need to charge a towing fee, Milage fee, and 3 days of storage even though I was picking up the car 36 hours after it was impounded. The attitude of the owner was unbelievable, gouging and charging excessive fees. They seem to take joy in preying on their victims to live a life of luxury!

I do remember this customer.  Basically he was in here to help his friend get her car out of impound.  This was not even his vehicle, he was just helping her pay for it.  When our front office person told him the price of the towing and storage he complained about the way we calculated the storage bill.  He was aggressive with my dispatcher and I happened to be there so I explained that every company has a different way of calculating their charges for towing and storage.  We are by the far the most reasonable for these charges in the area.  I explained this to him and he was still unhappy.  I explained that since he was not the owner of the vehicle in question that I was done talking to him about this and directed my conversation to the lady ( who was quite nice ).  The male then continued to argue and be aggressive.  My 110 lb wife then  came up and tried to explain our policy and he got aggressive with her as well.  I once again told him that I was done talking to him and asked him to leave and he wouldn't.  Had the situation gone any further I would have had to call the police and have him trespassed.  At no time were either my wife or I unprofessional or rude.  the whole incident was on camera as I have tons of recording devices in my office.  The whole time he claimed he was a business owner so we said he should understand because businesses have policies.  He wanted and exception for him because he was paying for his friend.  He tried to bully his way to a cheaper payment.  Again, this man was NOT the registered owner of the vehicle and did not need to come into our office and treat all of us like the low life tow truck drivers he thought we were.  We are a reputable business here in CDA since ****,  We have have dealings with all car dealerships, insurance agencies and law enforcement agencies  in the area.  I understand that the customer is king but i cannot deal with people who treat my employees with extreme disrespect and disregard.  I am sorry that he cam in with a pre disposed notion of the experience he was going to have and chose to have a bad day rather than a good one.  I hope he has better days in the future.

I am rejecting this response because:

No action taken, this company remains very immoral and unethical ripping customers off praying on people that have no alternatives.   They over charge.  I have spoken to many other people who have had similar experiences and urged them to file complaints with the BBB

    Sincerely,
