  DO NOT USE SCHAFFERS TOWING. This morning I called reliable towing and Schaffers towing for quotes to have my car towed. Reliable quoted me $260 and encouraged me to call around to get other quotes to make sure that I was getting the best deal possible. The next company I called was Schaffers. I spoke with dispatch who quoted me $200 with a possible $10 delta. I explicitly told him that I had already called reliable who quoted me $260 and that I was going to use Schaffers instead because the price was much less. Fast forward to when my car is getting dropped off and the driver (who was great) told me that it was $303. plus 3% fee if I was paying with a card. I told him that was not even close to what I was quoted and that the dispatcher told me that It would be within $10 of $200. I would have NEVER chosen to go with a more expensive tow ever! This is an underivable car that is being auctioned off, it is not on our insurance we are not being reimbursed for this tow we paid out of pocket. When I called and spoke with the dispatcher again he said that AND I QUOTE "I did not have time on our call to give you an accurate quote" WHAT the hell????? That is your job!!!! Its not my job to read between the lines! if it had been the $10 delta that's understandable, even if it had been $20 I could understand. But $100???? I will NEVER consider using Schaffers towing again. EVER. And I will make sure to spread the word that they are ripping people off. RIDICULOUS. In the end they took the bill down a laughable $13. I paid a reluctant $290.27. And to be clear, if he had said that it was going to be $300, and that was the best price I could find then I would have gladly paid the $300!!! but to say $200 with a $10 delta then show up at my house after the job is done and tell me $300 is absolute BS and furthermore to say that the reason it was so inaccurately quoted was. because you "didn't have time" to quote me accurately is completely UNACCEPTABLE.

  We did not tell you a hard quote. We never do.  My dispatcher told the customer it was a hook fee + mileage round trip. I have two people that can attest to that.  We always tell people that.  Even if we give an estimate we always let them know it is subject to change based on the circumstance.  I am sorry the you misunderstood the the situation.  I am sorry you had a bad experience but the fact that you misunderstood the estimate does not mean we rip people off.  I will use this as a ****** though to make sure we are much clearer with our customers on the phone.  I thank you for pointing out somewhere that we can improve.  I hope you have a better day.
