1 starTL;DR: Windy City promised me 70% of our $2,500 check from State Farm if I would sign over their promised 30%. They then gave us a check for $900. They claim that they are owed $1,600 FOR THE "FREE" ESTIMATE, but that they'd give us the remainder of our money IF we contracted with them for a new roof. "It's a business, Lady," is what the owner told me.---We needed to have our roof inspected. We called Windy City Construction Group because they had free estimates.May 17th: They came out and said they didn't see much damage, but they'd file a claim. I called them a week later asking if they'd filed yet and they said they had, but they didn't have a claim number. My insurance agent swore he hadn't heard from them.Then Windy City tells me they have NOT filed a claim because our roof pictures showed "big damage, lots of damage". Another adjuster comes out from Windy City and says the damage is just a tiny bit (again). Our insurer comes out and HE says the damage is just a tiny bit. Windy City files a claim and State Farm sends them a check.Jun 13th: Windy City comes out to discuss the check. They want to do $5,000 worth of repairs OVER what the insurance is covering. We tell them we can't afford that and we're not even sure why we need it? They ignore this and start trying to sell us solar panels. We tell them that we already have a contract for solar panels. They start pressuring us to break the contract.We tell them that we just want the roof repaired, but we can't pay $5,000. They offer to do some minor "patches" for $2,500 more than the insurance paid. That was a month ago. We have called and messages. We been brusquely pushed off with "I'm busy, I'll call you later". The secretary told me that it was policy NOT to call people back. "We'd be calling people all day, we can't do that." State Farm said they can't reissue the check and it's with Windy City. Windy City can't spend it unless we endorse it, but it feels like they're holding the check hostage.Review fromJames V

5 starsI was recommended Windy City from a friend. A tree fell on my roof from the recent storm and damaged my shaker roof. I am a retired veteran and was on the fence about who to use. I ringed them and a young fellow by the name of *** came out and assessed the damage he gave me an estimate which I appreciated but due to my financial situation I couldnt pay cash or finance. He explained to me how he could advocate for me through insurance claim. I am busy with doctors appointments and mr *** handled everything start to finish. Im so happy with the adjuster at this firm.
