1 starBank hours in Decatur, IL locations are not customer friendly. I don't know how the working public is supposed to use this bank. OK for retired people and those who don't work I guess. Not impressed.Review fromTiffany L

Our experience with Busey has been a nightmare for 5+ years. Over $20k was stolen from my husband's checking account over 5 years ago. We reported it as soon as was saw it. The bank froze the account at that time. No one has been able to help us recover our stolen money or allow us access to the account to remove the money that is remaining. We have contacted many people, many times and no one has been able to help us. Finally we have had to hire a lawyer to bring a lawsuit against the bank. Prior to this, my husband had put in multiple requests for new checks and a new debit card for his account, after verifying the address each time, we never received either. This is at best, gross negligence on the part of Busey and at worst and inside job. We are still dealing with the fallout of losing this amount of money that was supposed to be insured and protected, as well as the almost non-existent help from anyone at Busey. (I wish there was a dumpster file icon to choose as opposed to stars)Busey Bank

1 starMe and my wife recently split up. I opened a separate checking and savings account. I was assured several times that there was no way she could access my account. Was told that I was the only one with access. She was able to go into the app and see my account. I was told to change my user name and password, that the account was linked to my SS number and if she had the password and username she could still looks at it. So I changed the username and password. Woke up this morning and found out she had transferred $10,000 out of my personal account, into the joint account, and then withdrew it from the joint account. Contacted Busey and basically they gave me the runaround telling them I must have given her the new username (I didn't), maybe I left my phone out and she got into it ( we don't live together anymore and never see each other) and other things. Will not take responsibility for their screw up, allowing her access to an account she is not authorized to access. So, if you are a Busey customer, be aware that your account is not secure and anyone can just gain access and drain your account.Review fromRandy H

1 starI have never banked at Busey Bank. I'm in reference to the knoxville ave in peoria, il. I have a loan that I got thru South Side bank. Busey bought them out. For me to make a loan payment online it will cost me $5. Really, to pay on a loan online would cost me an extra$5. Crazy! Every other bill I pay, I pay online. So I go to the bank to make a payment with my debit card thru another bank. Busey won't take it. The only way I can pay is to write a check. It's the only bill that I have to pay with a check. I can't justify doing any banking with Busey again after this loan is paid. Worst bank in Peoria!!! I gave 1 star because it won't let me give 0.Review fromSue T.

Horrible to deal with. I was there with a friend and I would never bank there. Very unprofessional and unfriendly and most of all they don’t care about protecting their customer accounts. I would never bank there! I would give them zero stars if possible!Busey Bank

I banked at TheBank of ***** for many years, before Busey bought it and took over my accounts. I run a small law firm with multiple bank accounts. In 2022, Busey sent me a mandatory questionnaire that required me to disclose information about my law firm that went far and beyond the standard Know Your Customer questions; among other things, they wanted to see copies of my procedures for customer contact and employee training; they wanted to see samples of letters I send from my law firm to opposing parties. Keep in mind, I wasn't asking to borrow any money or rely on any credit. My account balances were robust and never overdrawn. I just wanted to keep money at their bank. Rather than answer the questionnaire, I closed all my accounts. This bank is very bad for small businesses, especially law firms. I would give this bank negative stars, if I could!Busey Bank

1 starI wish it were possible to give this bank negative stars! My sister and I are dealing with aging parents and have been granted permanent guardianship over our mother and temporary guardianship over our father. Busey Bank has been given the appropriate documentation that shows we are the guardians, but refuses to uphold the court order. The order make us the guardian over our parents accounts, but Busey refuses to abide by the order that says my father should NOT have access to the accounts. We intend to make the account a custodial account when we receive the permanent guardianship over our father, but in the meantime we only need them to assure us that he will not have direct access to the accounts. We were told that they can't do that - IT IS A COURT ORDER FROM THE STATE OF ********! They are blatantly disregarding a COURT ORDER. They allowed him to order a debit card - in VIOLATION OF A COURT ORDER. We were then notified that the account would be closed in 30 days - with no explanation. Finally we were told that they are closing the accounts due to a "conflict between account holders" - there is no conflict ! They just refuse to follow the court order. NEVER EVER will I recommend this bank to anyone!Review fromAlex V

1 starIn my 57 years, Busey Bank has proved to be the worst banking experience of my life.
Busey "purchased" the right to process my mortgage, a frustrating experience in and of itself. The bank with whom I previously worked was professional and frustration free.
The "online" payment program is a complete joke, difficult to navigate and near impossible to find what a reasonable person would need to find and do. "Customer service" is a joke. The website is a joke. The "online" chat, a joke. People on the phone are a joke.
The cherry on top of this turd sundae: these clowns charge me $5.00 to pay them electronically. Yes, I pay them a "convenience fee" for the purported privilege of paying them.
How Orwellian.
My vocabulary of profanity is insufficient to describe my distaste for the way this operation does "business."

1 starI have been a busey bank customer in ******** ** since 2018. Within that timeframe I have had to get 3 different debit cards because of fraudulent purchases that appeared on my card. Every time i called to dispute charges i get accused of “forgetting that I made a purchase” or “forgetting that I let someone use my card” Its very insulting because I am the epitome of personal safety, I follow all protocols when it comes to keeping my money safe, not giving out personal info, carrying a special wallet, making sure all transactions are accurate, etc. I have requested called backs from bank management that never happened, I rarely get prompt responses when I use the chat features, everytime i go to the branch it’s alarming to see new employees, which I voiced my concerns to with a member who called to inquire about survey feed back they received. The only option I am ever given for the fraud is to close my debit card. Which has been a hassle because I have to update information such as bill portals where my card is stored. This latest case of fraud, put my account $40 in the negative and after reporting the fraud I received a direct deposit which immediately took the $40. I went into the ******** ** branch to explain i needed that money put back in my account immediately they ultimately told me they couldn’t do anything about it not even issue a credit and was told to my face the manager would call me back (which she never did) just to get me out the office. After reluctantly getting a new card for the THIRD time, not even a month later I notice FRAUDULENT charges yet again. At this point its apparent there are severe security flaws in their system because two of sisters had similar experiences. (One of the tellers even made a significant mistake and took money out my account and gave money to my sister when she came and cashed a check) I decided that I will be closing my account. Although it will be a huge hassle it will warrant a peace of mind! Do better Busey!
