DO NOT USE THIS COMPANT!!Vacations by Rail cancelled the Rail portion of our trip, as well as hotels and excursions to the **************** due to Wildfires in ******, Canada. The only option they gave, for our party of six, was for us to pay for two nights in ********* and book a new flight to ******* and this would have to be done three days prior to our departure. There were no flights available, therefore we had to cancel the rest of the trip.We feel we should be given a refund and have called and emailed numerous times with absolutely no response but to say we have a 100% penalty! This is unacceptable!VBR has refused to refund $6300 without any communication to us! But from what I've read this has happened to others. BEWARE OF Vacations by Rail!

Recently booked a trip through the Rockies by Vacations by Rail. Due to forest fires in ******* the rail portion and stays in ******, bus transportation, and tours were not able to be provided. VBR notified us of these changes and told us that we needed to find our own transportation from ********* to ******* and that none of money we spent on the trip would be refunded. However each transportation company, hotel and tour all stated that refunds would be offered if VBR requested them. I guess VBR plans on keeping the funds.Vacations By Rail

******* helped book the trip and it was a trip of a lifetime. We did **** and ******** by Rail, with added days in ******. They helped us customize the trip and we felt like we had a VIP experience with private tours and easy-to-navigate logistics. ******* was great to offer support for the minor hiccups and additional questions. Every trip comes with a hiccup or two, and they were so helpful to respond quickly, ensuring that nothing was disrupted. We certainly could have done things on a tighter budget had I planned it all myself, but I could never have planned such a great trip on my own. I would book again!Vacations By Rail

5 starsI am writing this review in specific recognition of the work of employee, *************************. My wife and I were celebrating our twenty year wedding anniversary and going to see the northern lights in ****** was a dream. We had initially experienced a disappointment with the accommodations that were booked for us through the travel service. However, with speaking with ******* she validated our concern and was able to take appropriate action to resolve this issue. My wife and I encountered two other issues, that were entirely out of ******** control (a hotel inadvertently charging us for the stay and a cancelled expedition). Although both of these were out of ******** control she was attentive, expedient, efficient, patient, and kind in her management of the situation. With the support of ******** management of the situations my wife and I were able to relax worry free that the difficulties would be resolved It is a rarity that an individual like ******* is encountered and I believe her positive work should be recognized. She took the time to understand our concerns and I truly felt like she cared about the outcome for my wife and I. This personal touch was greatly appreciated. I would highly recommend Vacations By Rail for anyone looking to have a wonderful once in a lifetime experience. My wife and I will most assuredly be utilizing their service for future travel. 5 starsI just want to say what a great experience I just had speaking with one of ********************** at Vacations by Rail! I talked with **** today, and I had several questions as I'm driving to the start point of the tour and needed to obtain specific departure times for the first day. I also needed fairly specific return times for the last day. **** was able to provide both departure and return times, and included additional information that will make it easier for me to determine the best place to house my vehicle while I'm on the tour.He was friendly, and patient, and incredibly helpful! He answered all my questions and was instrumental in providing information that will allow me to fully plan my travel.Thank you, ****, for your EXCELLENT customer service!
