We went to collect our belongings from a vehicle that was in an accident the day prior. They would not allow us to even see the vehicle without paying a $300 fee for towing. When we asked to see the invoice due to the outrageous fee, we were denied being able to even see that. And since they work with the police here, we called them and they were no help just claiming "that's just the fee". Not only is this all obsurd but according to Illinois law, illegal.

On 9/30/2024 @ 4:07pm we received a call from the IL State Police Dist 15 for a crash on I 88 mile post 104.5 W/B. Its an approx 25-30 mile round trip. This vehicle veered off the road striking the cable barrier multiple times as it spun around coming to rest in the lane of traffic. It left a considerably large debris field do to the collision. Towing companies are contracted to tow vehicles in zones they are assigned to. IL tollway sets the rates and supplies all contracted towing companies with forms that we simply stamp our name on. We have been the contracted towing company for our area for nearly 40 years. We do not set the rates and are actually the least expensive towing we do. All calls are tracked for time and performance, a copy of every tow form (receipt) is sent to Dist 15 for compliance assurance. $300 to tow a vehicle involved in a crash 25 plus mile round trip, plus cleaning up all of the debris as cars are going by you at 70 plus MPH is very reasonable or considered cheap in this industry. Towing off interstates is one of the most deadliest roadside job in America, with a death toll averaging a tow truck driver being struck and killed every 6 days. IL law requires towing company that have removed vehicles from "private property", the owner to view the vehicle prior to claiming it. This vehicle was towed in the direction of the IL state police and is not a "private property impound" therefore this rule (law) does not apply. We do not have to grant access to view a vehicle under any IL law that was towed in the direction of law enforcement. "Personal Property" IL law (625 ILCS 5/4-203) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 4-203) states, "any
personal property belonging to the vehicle owner in a vehicle subject
to a lien under this subsection (g) shall likewise be subject to that
lien, excepting only: child restraint systems as defined in Section 4 of
      the Child Passenger Protection Act and other child booster seats;
eyeglasses; food; medicine; perishable property; any operator's
licenses; any cash, credit cards, or checks or checkbooks; any wallet,
purse, or other property containing any operator's license or other
identifying documents or materials, cash, credit cards, checks, or
checkbooks; and any personal property belonging to a person other than
the vehicle owner if that person provides adequate proof that the
personal property belongs to that person". "This paragraph (5) applies only
in the case of a vehicle that is towed as a result of being involved
in a crash. In addition to the personal property excepted under
paragraph (4), all other personal property in a vehicle subject to a
lien under this subsection (g) is exempt from that lien and may be
claimed by the vehicle owner if the vehicle owner provides the
commercial vehicle relocator or towing service with proof that the
vehicle owner has an insurance policy covering towing and storage fees.
The spouse, child, mother, father, brother, or sister of the vehicle
owner may claim personal property in a vehicle subject to a lien under
this subsection (g) if the person claiming the personal property
provides the commercial vehicle relocator or towing service with the
authorization of the vehicle owner and proof that the vehicle owner has
an insurance policy covering towing and storage fees" . Please note; our company policy is
as follows,  we will document everything in the vehicle, retrieve the
items noted above and return them to you. We do not allow nonpaying
customers access in our yard or their vehicle. IL law states we have to return these
items, not give you access to clean the vehicle out yourself. Please
feel free to stop in to retrieve the items listed above. I have provided a copy of the invoice and IL State Police tow report which states "Inventory/ List of Personal Effects" Two Folding Chairs.

I am reporting, this company just on the fact that they are working with the police and other entities to make sure they are covered with the wrong doings they do to people for example they towed a vehicle, then flatten my tire, when confronted (before knowledge of a nail) they physically felt my car and insinuated I had a nail. I just placed the tires on my car, my car didnt move a week before the tow, no flat. But I held my car in a tow yard for 6 days and I have a flat. Also I want to put out there, the defamation this company gives off by lying in a response on this website. I wasnt trespassed for fun and giggles. ****** entity contacted my landlord and told them to trespass me because I told them dont touch my car if its legal to be there or Ill pop your top. I never threatened this company by law i can protect my property even with my voice. Ive seen this company have to return peoples cars for mistakes or not seeing the card sticker. Catch is improper parking ticket in the mail too haha

Lovetts towed this vehicle do to a parking violation at ***************************************, for a expired visitor pass. Pass was dated 5/11-5/17,  vehicle was towed 5/24/23 @12:50am. This was second time we have towed the vehicle for the same violation. The vehicle is a **** Mercury Grand ******** which is a rear wheel drive vehicle. Proper towing procedure for this vehicle is to tow the vehicle from the rear, do to the rear wheels are locked in park. The vehicle was towed by the rear wheels to are facility. On 5/31/23 ******* and ****** came to pick up their vehicle, ******* went out back and drove the vehicle up to the front lot, (we did not bring it up to him as stated) he came in and claimed we damaged his tire and the passenger door of the vehicle. I went out to see what the complaint was along with a ****** PD officer that they had called to our shop, I asked if I could air it up the tire to see where the air was leaking from. He refused to allow me to look at it, screaming and threatening our lives. They said "it wasn't flat before you towed it" and I responded with "is it possible that you ran something over before you parked it?" That was met with more screaming and life threats to the point that officer demanded that they leave the property. I had a no trespass order put on ***************************** him from our property. The apartment complex has also issued a no trespass order for him as well for the trouble he causes. We sent the officer an email containing pictures from the first time that we towed the vehicle showing the door damage was present before we towed it. ****** claimed in her BBB complaint last week for the same vehicle and incident, "I just put brand new tires on my car the week before they towed it so the tire should not have been flat" I have included pictures of a brand new tire and their tire, you can clearly see these tires are not new, not that has anything to do with this other than speaks volumes for their dishonesty. I have circled an area from a new tire and his tire in the same area, as you can see the grove not present in *******'s tire and present in new clearly indicates his tires are wore down considerably and not new. He is obviously being less than truthful about the tires being a week old. I can also see excessive amount of sidewall scrubbing that indicates that this tire has been ran flat enough to wear off the topside of the numbers on the 997 but the bottom still shows clear outline of the numbers. I also noticed he did not add the door damage in this complaint that he falsely accused us of in a police report, I assume because the police **** already showed him he was lying. We towed the vehicle from the rear wheels, the rear wheel has a s**** in it as I stated to them that they could of possibly ran something over at some point. The rear wheels are locked in park there is no way we could have picked up a s**** in the rear tire, because 1) we hooked to the rear wheels and lifted them completely off the ground to tow it. 2) if we tried towing it from the front wheels, the rear would of drug and not rolled because it was in park, the wheels can not roll. The claim that we some how got a s**** in his tire as we towed it is absolutely false. The only time that wheel was rolling to get a s**** in it is when it was being driven by either ****** or *******. We take no responsibility for the s**** in their tire.

My car was towed by this company on 5/23/2023 but I couldnt retrieve my car until 5/30/2023. When I went to the tow company to retrieve my car, they brought my car out with a flat tire in the back. I just put brand new tires on my car the week before they towed it so the tire should not have been flat. The tow company only offered to fill it up with air and took no responsibility for the tire. I called the authorities to come and make a report as the tow company was taking no responsibility for my tire. Once the police arrived, the tow truck driver came out of the office and checked the tire telling me maybe I drove over a nail but not stating he found anything in the tire. If that was the case the tire wouldve been flat when they towed the vehicle as the tires were brand new. Once I had made my report and left the tow company I took my car to the gas station to fill it with air when I discovered the nail the tow truck driver was trying to hide. Now I have to take my car to fill the tire with air every 2 days as the nail in my tire from a tow truck company is not covered under warranty for the tires. This company is extremely rude and they take no responsibility for the damages they cause.

I was towed by this company on Tuesday (3/21/23) around 10pm. I have also been towed by them before, on 2/10/22. This most recent time, I am filing this complaint because I believe there was damage done to my vehicle and the company completely disregarded my concern. I believe damage was done to my wheel alignment. I have been driving my vehicle for years, I know how it operates and when things change, I am very mindful of it. After I received my car, I had to turn my steering wheel significantly to the left in order to drive straight. The next day when I called to let them know my concern the woman who answered the phone told me it was "physically impossible" for that damage to be done during the towing process. She continued to tell me there was a zero percent chance something like a damaged wheel alignment could even happen during their towing process. Which I don't believe is the case. She gave me reasons such as the drivers are very careful and they take streets with less potholes. Regardless, she did not acknowledge the fact that something can still happen. I would like some form of remediation because my car does not drive the same since being towed from this company. I will surely have to undergo mechanic costs to correct my wheel alignment, so I believe ******** ********************************************* should cover this cost. Especially, since they did not want to help at all in the slightest.

I *************************** GM of Lovetts Towing, was made aware of the complaint on 3/22/2023 after the customer had called in making this damage allegation. This vehicle was towed 3/21/2023 @ 10:10pm from 900 crane for a parking violation. It was picked up @ 10:55pm of the same day. I called about hour after his initial call with no answer reaching his voice mail, I left a message of why I was calling, who I was and how to reach me. I never received a call back, I called again 3/29/2023 with the same result, no answer, left message and no return call. The customer has not provided any proof that this damage has accrued other than an allegation of it a day later. Driving the car from our lot to the exit the customer would have noticed this and if this was fact would of stopped and spoke with my staff. I have done as much as I can to reach the customer to allow him to provide proof or bring his car in for an inspection. We are also a full service mechanical and collision facility for over 40 years.
