Took in a garment for alterations ( ******************* location in ******, **) on or about May 9th, 2025. Charged for deposit of $23.88 on my credit card. Was told alterations & cleaning would take about 8 weeks. On or about May 14th received a text that the garment was ready. Arrived for pickup and was told the garment couldn't be fixed & they would refund my deposit to the credit card. That never hapoened. Since then, I have contacted the store & appeared in person to find out what was going on. **** assured me he would take care of it & call me with an update. I went to the store late June and found out that they gave me a store credit. That was not my request or agreement. I do not use dry cleaning services. Again, **** said he would fix it. Today is July 14th and I have heard nothing. At this point, I want my refund plus credit card interests in cash. I don't trust the business to refund to my card.Business Response

I am writing to formally submit a complaint regarding a recent experience I had with Apple Cleaners.I utilized a $19 coupon for the cleaning of a comforter and was charged an additional $36 upcharge without prior notification when I went to pick up the comforter from Apple Cleaners today. When I inquired as to why the cost was $55 and not $19, the employee said that they have to upcharge on certain brands but couldnt identify which brands. When the comforter was dropped off this was not relayed. He called the manager of the store who said the best they could do was note my account in the future when they are going to upcharge and will notify me rather than just providing the service and upcharging with lack of notification. The coupon I received did not indicate that any upcharge would apply, and I did not receive any communication from Apple Cleaners regarding this fee before it was applied to my bill. Furthermore, I have a copy of the front and back of a coupon similar to the one I used just with a different date. This is an unlawful business practice and needs to be addressed.I am concerned about the lack of transparency in this transaction, as it has created confusion and frustration for me as a customer. I would appreciate any assistance the Better Business Bureau can provide in resolving this matter.Thank you for your attention to this complaint. I look forward to your response.Business Response

We had a fire at our residence and our insurance company hired this company to resolve several issues. They took a black sequine fur robe to clean but never returned it or reimbursed us for the item, in addition to several other items. Numerous calls and emails by several people have gone unanswered for most of the last year The approximate value of all the items not returned or refunded is approximately $1000.Business Response

In January 2024, they came and got the rug, took it and cleaned it. It was not clean so they came and got it again. They brought it back and it had soured. I tried everything to get that smell out. We are 6 months in to this and I have spent $545.00. I want at least half of my money back.Business Response

My wifes expensive dress was completely ruined at Apple Cleaners. We brought in a two piece formal wear dress and when we asked if they dry cleaned this type of outfit we were told yes. The dress had beadwork all throughout. I went in May 22nd to get it and paid $92.70. When we took a look at it afterwards we noticed the entire beadwork of the dress had come off. The entire design essentially gone with the bottom of the outfit still being dirty. She was only able to wear this outfit twice her entire time owning this. It was from overseas and cost roughly around $400. She called Apple Cleaners and was put in touch with the manager, *********, who told her to bring it back in so it can go to the claims department. When she brought it back the girl at front desk assessed the dress and agreed that it wouldn't be able to be fixed and that they would have to pay us and kindly apologized. We did not hear from them after so my wife called the manager last week and was told she would make a few calls and get back to her and that the dress was still at the cleaners. ********* did not call back and when we tried to get in touch after, the call would go directly to voicemail. We have left voicemails at the cleaners and no response. When we do get in touch with someone they say they will let the manager know and we still get no response. When I went to the cleaners myself the lady working there said the dress was still there and no one knew what to do with it and have heard nothing from management.Business Response

Picked up my dry cleaning about a week before the date of 2/18/2024. When I got my sweater out of the bag to wear on 2/18, there was a customer note on my sweater saying they could not get out stains on the sweater. (When I took the sweater to the cleaners, there were no stains on it.) These stains were red to light pink on many parts of the sweater, like the button placket, the neck, the shoulder and the sleeves. It looked like the cleaners had cleaned my sweater with something red, and splotches got all over my sweater as a result. I went to the cleaners on 2/19, and they would not refund my money for the cleaning but took my name and cell # and a manager was supposed to call me about this problem. Its already 2/21 and no manager has bothered to call. This also happened to me when they "lost" a very nice scarf I had. No manager called and I went back to the cleaners many, many times complaining about my scarf to no avail. All I want is that Apple Cleaners reimburse me for the cleaning of the sweater. BTW, the sweater was an expensive one from JJill and my favorite. Also, my father owned a dry cleaners and I worked there for some time; it looks just like what I said above - that the sweater was washed with something red, and pink, red splotches appeared on the garment after the cleaning. I truly would like to be compensated for the cleaning. I can't hardly believe the attendant could not even reimburse me for the cleaning when I went in to complain. My father always reimbursed the customer what the garment was worth if something like this happened in his cleaners. Also, I have been going to this cleaners for years and they are good, not excellent, but good and close to my house. I really don't think the manager will bother to call me about my complaint which is why I'm writing to you.Business Response

The customer came in for a refund for a damaged sweater in the beginning of Feb. The *** in the store called me while the customer was in the store. I explained to her that the clerk was not authorized to do a refund and I needed to see the sweater in order to process a refund. She needed to bring the sweater to the store to leave and I would make sure I came to look at it and call her. The customer never brought the sweater. We still need to see the sweater in order to process a claim or refund as this is our company policy. I left a voice message and sent a text today 3/6/24 to explain to customer. Currently waiting for a response.Initial Complaint

They damaged a pair of my shorts. I spoke with the manager ********* who said that there was no was they could have burned them because the use a steam machine. I told here that I get my pants starched and she said we could have burned them but this looks more like a wear tear. I told her I have never washed these shorts . I dry clean only. I paid $40 for those shorts.Business Response
Date: 02/01/2024
I reached out to Mr. **** to explian to him that the spots on the shorts were not at all burn holes. They look like wear holes, they are not something consistent with dry-cleaning damage. I also offered him a good faith credit for the shorts to be used in store which he declined. As he had orders in our system currently that needed to be picked up. He stated that he was not interested in that that we burned his shorts and that he would not be coming back. He then ended the call.Initial Complaint

Simply put, I left two fairly expensive business shirts with Apple Cleaners in late August of 2023 and they lost them. After numerous attempts to get this resolved and reassurances by management to rectify this, nothing has been done. This is a disgrace.Customer Answer

*********, the woman who claims to be in corporate management had assured me that she would find a resolution. She had given me her personal cell phone number(?) that has been over three weeks ago. I had also logged a complaint with their retail store in Belleville, Illinois. They seem to put me off in every step of the process.Business Response

Order was misplaced. We made several attempts to reach out to other customers to see if we could find the missing order. We were not able to do so. Customer didn’t want reimbursement in beginning he preferred his 2 shirts. Rightfully so. At this time we do not know if we will find them. Customer was contacted on Friday to get the price of the shirts. Customer did not have information offhand and is going to look online for similar shirts. After he reaches out with prices, we will reimburse the customer with a check.

We took a brightly colored quilt into Apple Cleaners in Early November to have dry cleaned. It was picked up on the 17th Of November. The amount was $33. After bringing it home we found it was very faded. It looked like it had been washed in hot water. I called the store and was given the name of the manager..*********. I called her. She told me to take it back to the store and tell then to send it to the office which I did the next day. She said she would look into it and let me know. After a week, I hadn't heard from her so once again I called. She said. " Oh do we have the quilt?" That told me she hadnt even seen it. Said she would call the office and check. Never heard from her so called again. She said that the workers had already gone home but would check the next day. Nothing..no call. Told her I wanted a refund. That was a Friday. On Monday I texted her and she said her Grandmother had passed and she was sorry. She said she would call me and get my husband's bank number and she would issue a refund. She was supposed to call me around noon. It was later than that...at least an hour and a half. Finally she did call and we did the transaction or so I thought. She told me it would take 3 to 5 days to show up on my bank account. After 10 days nothing and still nothing. This was awful. I will never go to Apple Cleaners again.Customer Answer

I took some pants and a jacket down to them to be cleaned. When I went to pick them up, the jacket was half done. Some dye had bled into my pants and there were spots on them and a scuff ***** They offered to redo it. They called me the other day and said my pants were ready. There were still black marks on it. I asked him about the scuff ***** he said I had to do it. He asked what I wanted. I told him I would like to be reimbursed for my pants and he refused. I purchased the pants from ***** and I paid $59.90 and with shipping and taxes, I paid $73.02 altogether.
