The Emergency Departmrnt at NorthShore University Hospital in Evanston, ******** is so poorly managed that it borders on abusive. To wait six hours to see an MD is wrong. This hospital should not offer Emergency services if it cannot provide them. Stay away!!!!

I have been to north shore now “endeavor “ ten years to do my yearly mammogram, never had problems with service. Now that it changed to Endeavor, I had a terrible experience with their billing department. They billed the wrong code for my mammogram, and when I inquired my insurance company, one of my insurance company agent talked to the billing department and they told my insurance agent this is billed as a diagnostic imaging instead of routine without any valid orders. My insurance agent was on the phone with the billing department for an hour trying to figure out why it was billed as a diagnostic imaging instead of routine imaging since my doctor ordered a yearly routine mammogram. To this day it is unclear why I had the diagnostic imaging instead of routine, When I called on 8/14/2024 4:30 to get an explanation, the woman on the phone from the billing department picked up the phone asked my basic information with a solid attitude, then she started yelling at me before I even started telling her why I was calling. I could not get a word in or get to the reason of why I was calling. It was an extremely unprofessional and terrorizing way to scare a patient. When she let me tell her why I was calling, she started repeatedly saying that it's their policy. If the policy is to perform a diagnostic test on someone without orders, but merely for the purpose of making money off of patients, then that should be made known to the public.

This place ruined my life. No place on earth do u call gushing blood and they tell you NOT to come in. That's ***** from their obgyn ***** Then called a 2nd time 4 days later almost begging to come in still bleeding after unprotected ********* won't schedule an appointment and says I have to wait 3 months to see someone. Then, come in 3 months later with obvious signs of infection. Burning, bleeding, etc. They literally do NOT even listen to me or give me the most basic tests. The nurse kerem FORCES me to change my bc pills and I literally say, "I don't want to change pills." These are pills I've been on for awhile and I love them. She threatens and bullies me at my vulnerable state and even went as far as coercion. It was a major infection and had nothing to do with horomones. She destroyed my body and my life.

My OBGYN who is leaving NS referred ****************. This was after I had to report ***************************** to the medical board, due to the fact that I confronted him about ripping me off my meds, attempting to change every single one, and told me that he has more important patients who are suicidal to deal with, and he does not know why I am calling him, and that if I felt that he put me in ***** way to report me to the medical board. I did. This was July of 2023. I called on January 16, **** to have a change of care, the receptionist just told me that it could take up to three weeks. I then got a message on NS connect to fill out the ** form again, and that someone would call me in five days for placement. THAT NEVER HAPPENED. I got a phone call the next day asking for reasoning of change, and I stated unprofessionalism. I explained what happened, and that I did NOT want to get black-listed due to what ****** did to me. Of course, she says we dont do that and informed me that the supervisor of the department would call me back. ******* called me a week later. She did not ask me about my story, all the she told me was that they can usually handle these things on a lower level. I told her to listen to the phone call from July, and him literally instructing me to report him to the medical board. Then, she proceeded to defend him, telling me that his placements are normally accurate. Again, I told her that I did NOT want to get black listed to do what ****** did, I explained I already had the referral from my OBGYN and she stated that she would even message her one my behalf. ******* informed me that my doctor did not message **************** and that she does not take new patients, but she is sure someone will call me back in a few days, and that I could already be on the scheduling list for a call back (how would she not definitively know this as the supervisor of the department).

Worst healthcare system. No one answers the phone. Offices randomly close or fail to open with no notice. Horrendous wait times to book an appt and then the appt is 6 mos away. Patient care is rude, lazy, sloppy. Used to be good, then decent, now abysmal Today ************* urgent care annd lab simply did not open. Called main office, got through in a record 16 minutes (at 7am). **************** said she was surprised they didnt come in, no reason it should be closed. This is so typical of Northshore.

The billing department is absolutely useless! I was self pay for one office visit requested a good faith estimate per the no surprise act they are requried to provide one. I was given a price quote, paid that amount on the day of service then balance billed another $150 after the visit. I called and left 4 voicemails, 1 patient portal message and not one person has responded to me since oct of 2023 and it is now February ****! I have asked for a self pay discount, I have asked them to abide by the good faith estimate quote that was given to me when I scheduled the office visit, I have asked them to send me a financial hardship to apply for a discount all in messages and still have not heard back from anyone. Northshore has unfair billing practices and very poor ethics and puts no effort into helping any patient with questions or concerns regarding this.

Clearly this "non profit" organization has seen fit to have a terrible billing department in an effort to make it as difficult as possible to correct billing mistakes, that are confirmed by my insurance company. Trying to reach via the Northshore app is also not viable because it says it can take up to 48 hours to get a response. I am presently on day 19. They are designed to not assist from the ground up, it would appear.

I had an incredibly disappointing experience at this urgent care facility. Despite being instructed to go there and arriving during their supposed open hours, the receptionist was unhelpful and dismissive, claiming they stopped accepting patients at 3:30 PM. This contradicted the information I received from the call center, causing unnecessary confusion. The receptionist (with short gray/yellow/purple hair named ********* at ***** Drive at 7:20 pm 12/11/2023) refused to acknowledge any responsibility, even going so far as to call the police when I expressed my frustration. The lack of coordination between the facility and the call center is alarming, and it raises concerns about the overall competence of North Shore University healthcare systems. The fact that urgent cares were allegedly closed by 7 PM, despite my attempts to seek help on or a few minutes before that time, further underscores the system's inadequacies. This experience has left me with a profound lack of confidence in the medical group and its recent mergers, and I cannot recommend their services based on this unfortunate incident. It is also with my sincere hope that North Shore University Healthcare takes *********'s lack of responsibility seriously. Her dismissive and uncompassionate behavior, especially in a healthcare setting, raises serious concerns about her ability to handle the responsibilities of her role. Her lack of accountability and respect for the job, combined with the potential implications for someone's health and welfare, are alarming. I strongly recommend that the North Shore University Healthcare system reevaluates her suitability for such a crucial position before her actions cause more serious consequences for patients in need. This incident has underscored the importance of having staff who prioritize compassion and responsibility in healthcare settings.
