On August 10 I was messaged by the company to come in and get another car. Prior to that I was paying for a different car through them. I was almost done but the car he got totaled because someone blew a red light and ran into me. First, I was told that I would have to pay $500 just for the down payment. So I told my account manager that I could pay 100 now and I can give her the rest the following month. I think it was either the next day or later on that night someone else texted me from the business telling me that I could come in and get the car with no down payment . So, I continue to ask her what about the down payment they told me I didnt need to pay it. If I still want to come in that they would get a Uber to come get me and they would have all the paperwork ready I just need to sign and drive off. It was not explained to me that the part of the payment would be deferred the remainder used from the car and that would need to be deferred payment. I later found out that they had thanks my credit score for 90 points because I Was told that I didnt have to pay on the other car due to it being totaled. So I just told him that Im gonna bring the other car back and I wanna be done with them. I was advised that if I was to take the car back that they would put that they repossessed it and that would hit my credit score been worse. So scared that my credit score will be hit again I kept the car but its not even 30 days Im having issues and they basically tell me that I pay out-of-pocket for the issues that shouldve been taken care of the car when I got it. The communication with this business is horrible the sales department only cares about making sales and not about whats in the best interest for the customers. I just would like to call ties with them take the car back get out of this contract and be done. Because I dont feel like my loyalty to them was valued at all and I would rather not have a car at all if I have to go through them.

    Business Response

    Date: 09/19/2022

In the case of *****************************, Complaint Number: ********, we have investigated this matter with the full cooperation of the franchise-owned Byrider.  ****************** has expressed her dissatisfaction with some mechanical issues she has encountered with her vehicle that are not eligible to be covered under vehicle service contract.

****************** purchased a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu on August 10, 2022 from the franchise-owned Byrider on ********* Street in Joliet, ********.  At the contract closing, ****************** decided to purchase and agreed to the terms of the optional 36-month, ****** mile vehicle service contract, whichever occurs first.

****************** brought her vehicle in for service on September 8, 2022.  It was determined that she needed brake pads, rotors, and some hardware in the front.  Unfortunately, these repairs are not eligible under the vehicle service contract.  She declined to have the repairs completed at that time.

Upon receipt of this complaint, the franchise-owned Byrider reached out to ****************** to work towards a resolution.  In a gesture of goodwill, they offered to cover the cost of the work needed, even though it is not eligible for coverage.  However, ****************** still expressed her dissatisfaction, and in the spirit of customer service, the franchise-owned ********************** decided to offer her the option to be released from any further contractual obligations.  ****************** returned the vehicle on September 12, 2022 and signed the necessary documentation.

The franchise-owned Byrider apologizes for the inconvenience this matter may have caused and wishes ****************** the best in her future endeavors.
