I got a 50 debit gift card from www.cumoney.com/gift and I have zero balance. Several hundred employees that I work with received gift cards during the holiday season with cumoney. I haven't used the card. I called the number on the card and was not able to talk to any one in supervision. There is zero balance even though the expiration date is on the card 04/29. They said that after no activity on the card they deduct $5 per month on the card. Nowhere on the card does it state this. I find this very misleading and deceiving. I was unable to be transferred to supervision when contacting the 800 number. Please refund my gift card.Initial Complaint

I purchased CUMoney's **** Travel Money CARD at my credit union today. I was told to activate the card by phone at ************. The card would NOT ACTIVATE. **************** person told me I would have to go online to activate, no reason given, and that she could not do it. I want a complete refund of fees and amount deposited from my credit union account. Also, the customer service person asked for my Social security number, which is nothing they could ever need. This is a scam, and I would never provide my information on their website www.CUMONEY.com.Their activation number is ************.Initial Complaint

We were provided a $50 prepaid **** gift card. Although the expiration date does not expire until 2/2027, the entire balance was stolen by this company for a $5 charge per month. No other company that issues **** charges these fees.Initial Complaint

I received a gift card from my bank **************************** of **************, ** in July of 2020. The amount of the gift card was in the amount of $800.00. The expiration date listed on the card is 7/26. Some purchases were made but then the card was not used for 27 months. Apparently if the card is not used within 12 months after it is received or 12 months after the last purchase; then on the 13th month a montly deduction is made in the amount of $5.00. There were 27 deductions of $5.00 each amounting to $135.00. There were never any notifications nor statements. The only way I found out was to check the balance on the website. CUMONEY is very deceptive in putting an expiration date of 5-6 years from the date of the inception of the gift card. They should put a 12 month limit-expiration date on the card; so that people know that there is urgency in consistently using the card. I don't understand the reason why this company would charge $5.00 a month as there is no service provided to the customer when it is "dormant". I would like a refund of the $135.00 as these are excessive charges. I also have spoken to **************************** in regards to endorsing this company since they are affiliated with them and provides them the customers. When someone gives a gift of money, the gift should not be used by the supplier. That is considered a profit to the bank!Initial Complaint

Received a $25 **** gift card for Christmas, said it was good until 2/2028. Tried to use it today and was told there is $0 on it because even though I didnt activate it, it was activated in 2021 and they charged $5/month in inactivity fees until the balance was $0 and closes the card. Looks like this is a very common occurrence with this company. It is a complete scam and I want a replacement that can actually be usedInitial Complaint

I was gifted a gift card from cumoney. I have never used the card, and it expires in ****. I went to check the balance, and it says it's closed due to acquiring fees from inactivity... this is a gift card, I should be able to spend the money when and where I want to. These fees are ridiculous; I've never heard of a gift card taking money away from not being used. So they took the entirety of the balance on the card. Not only did they get the money from purchase of the gift card, but they also took the money from the gift card itself. This feels very illegal. I would NEVER recommend a gift card from this company. If I ever get one again, i am returning it. I have gift cards from years before this one still with my money on it. Never heard of a company stealing money off of a gift card. And all of the money on the card at that!!Initial Complaint

I was gifted a cumoney gift card in the amount of $25. I already don't like this type of gift card because it is challenging to use and often gets declined. I went on to check my balance and they charged me $5 a month in inactivity fee for not using my card for 11 months despite the expiration date not being for another four years. They are excessive and not well communicated. This is a sham given the limited disclosures and expiration date shown on the front of the card.Initial Complaint

I got this card for my son since he is not old enough to obtain a regular debit card and we have not been able to use it. They were very rude and unhelpful when I called for assistance. The customer service representative kept over talking me and getting very sassy. She sounded like she had a mouth full of gum or candy. I did not understand much of what she said and when I would say that I didnt understand what she said she would take a long deep breath and exhale as if I am getting on her nerves. I asked to speak to a supervisor as I still had no idea what happened and I just got placed on a long hold.Initial Complaint

DO NOT BUY A CUMONEY GIFT CARD. A gift card in the amount of $40 was gifted to me. This gift card has an expiration date of 12/26. When I went to use the card (never used) it did not work. I called customer service & was advised that due to non use of the card the fees were subtracted monthly until the account was closed. This is a PREPAID GIFT, that I was NOT able to use due to the deceptive business practices of cumoney. This is essentially theft.
