************* complaint is that he received a loan in the amount of $1,000 from Oasis Financial, that he paid the loan back in three money order payments to cover the requested amount, and that Oasis Financial took the amount owed directly from his personal bank account to pay the loan back early. Oasis denies any wrongdoing with regards to ************ and his funding.
************ is incorrect to the facts of his complaint. ************ executed one loan agreement in the amount of $1,000.00. On April 29, 2022, ************ contacted Oasis stating that his case had not yet settled but he wanted to pay the loan. A payoff letter was created and sent to ************ via email. Four days later, on May 3,2024, Oasis received a check from his attorneys firm in the amount of $1,026.30, in satisfaction of the loan agreement. On May 4th,payment confirmation was sent to ************ and his attorney.
The total amount received by Oasis on behalf of ************ is limited to the $1,026.30 received on May 3, 2024. Oasis has not received any other funds from ************ in repayment of his loan and does not have the ability to withdraw funds from any of his accounts. ********************** denies that it received any additional payment from ************ or took the amount owed directly from ************** bank account. ************ has not provided proof of the money orders he made to pay off his loan.
Since payment was received by his attorney in the full amount, and ************** case was closed, we believe this matter to be resolved.Initial Complaint

I asked oasis settlement funding for help. I was told I would get **** for bills so I wrote checks to cover this amount. I then found out they were only giving me 487 dollars and had wrote checks to cover **** and had to file bankruptcy to save my house since they lied to me about funding help. I feel I only owe them 488 dollars and not **** as they lied and are the worst possible business out there they are scammers not helpers.Business Response

Ms.******* complaint is that she received less than the amount she originally requested, that she wrote checks to cover the requested amount, and had to file bankruptcy to save her house. Oasis denies any wrongdoing with regards to **************** and her funding.
**************** is incorrect to the facts of her complaint. **************** executed one non-recourse purchase agreement with a Purchase Amount of $3,496.88; following the payment of the fees disclosed to **************** (based on her disbursement selections), as well as payment made to buy-out her first funding with a different funding company, she received $569.89.
On October 5, 2022, **************** requested funding and was approved for the amount of $3,220.00 based on her injuries and treatment on October 20,2022. However, on October 21, 2022, Oasis discovered **************** had prior funding with PS Finance totaling $2,356.88. On October 27, 2022, **************** executed a non-recourse purchase agreement. That funding agreement contained a clear and conspicuous Consumer Disclosure page that explicitly broke down the total amount of funding, the amount that would be paid to PS Finance to buy out her prior funding, the fees and charges that would be assessed under the funding agreement, and the total amount that would be sent ****************. Payment was sent out on October 28, 2022, to **************** in the amount of $569.89 and to PS Finance Associates II, LLC for $2,356.88. Oasiss provision of funding to **************** was contingent on its ability to buy out her prior funding, which she was aware of. This is a consistent industry practice that is to the benefit to the consumer, as it seeks avoids the possibility of having multiple funding companies providing an inappropriate level of funding to the plaintiff and otherwise avoiding multiple liens on their settlement proceeds related to pre-settlement funding.Oasis cannot speak to any bills paid by ****************, but it is in no way responsible for her inability to pay those bills or for her filing for bankruptcy. Oasis offered funding to plaintiff with clear disclosures as to what would be paid to her and is not responsible for any actions she took thereafter.

I contacted the company about an Pre settlement on my law suit. I filled out the paperwork for the company and was offered and approved for amount of $3220. I was expecting that amount to pay my rent and other bills. Then I get a call on 12-29-23 saying that it was an error and only want to offer me $1000. Thats not the contract I signed for. They already have outrageous fees but because Im in a bind I accepted them. I want them to honor the contract that the underwriters approved initially. I have informed my landlord that I would have the fees because they said they would send them. Now Im in threat of being evicted because they went back on the contract.Business Response

We regret that ******************** was unsatisfied with her experience with Oasis Financial, but we deny any wrongdoing. ******************** applied for pre-settlement funding with Oasis Financial and was originally approved for $3220 based on the information provided by ******************* and her attorney; however, the day after her approval, on December 29,2023, Oasis Financial was notified that incorrect information was shared by her attorney regarding her legal claim. Based on this new information, Oasis Financial could only approve the lesser amount of $1140 in pre-settlement funding. This was explained to ******************** during an approval call, at which time she became angry and hung up the phone. Subsequently, on January 4, ****,******************** called Oasis Financial, apologized for the earlier call, and requested an additional $1140 in funding. Unfortunately, Oasis Financial could not approve that amount of funding due to its conservative underwriting standards, but in light of her request to do more business with Oasis, we believe this matter to have been resolved.Initial Complaint

Since mid-September I have been attempting to work with Oasis regarding pre-settlement funding for a guaranteed high six figure case involving multiple case categories. I was approved for 3k in early October out of the 20k I requested to cover basic needs as due to my case-related injuries I was unable to work. told by the rep that if I needed more to just apply again. Since then I have been given a different excuse for every denial, different info on what kind of case updates would qualify for more funding, including today claiming I was still in the 30 day window from receiving my previous funding when I am well out of that window. I had to escalate to a supervisor this morning, who promised to "talk to the director" but who refused to provide me any documentation of her efforts to resolve this. Because I have already received funding, I am unable work with another pre-settlement funding company. I would like written documentation of everything Oasis has done regarding my case, and ideally the remaining 17k of my initial request as that is well within the 20% of settlement guidelines for this type of funding . If they are unable to provide any more funding, I would like them to refer me to another pre-settlement company and provide a written statement releasing me as a client so another company can help.Business Response

*********** complains that he made a request for funding on September 17, 2023 in the amount of $25,000.00 but he received less than in the total amount of $3,220.00;that when he attempted to apply for more funding, he was given a different excuse or different information for every denial; and, lastly, that he was unable to work with other pre-settlement funding companies due to the money he received from Oasis.
On September 17, 2023, ************ made an initial request for funding in the amount of $25,000.00 for a wrongful termination case, for which he was approved in the amount of $3,220.00 based on Mr. ***** case. After his funding agreement was fully executed on September 26, 2023, the funding was distributed to ************ that same day. Less than a month later, on October 12,2023, a second funding request was made and denied by Oasis Financial based on its conservative underwriting. ************ was advised that underwriting decisions are based on the case details and status, and that he could call back in 30 days or when there was a change in his case to seek more funding. Subsequently,on October 20th, November 14th, November 30th and December 18, 2023, ************ called for additional funding and, each time was advised of the decline and that he could apply if there was an update in his case. Unfortunately, between the time of his funding on September 26, 2023,and the present, there have not been sufficient changes to his legal matter such that Oasis can provide additional funding. On December 22, 2023, ************ spoke with an Oasis Supervisor on stating his belief that he would be approved for funding in the future, but he was advised that we cannot ever promise approval, only to revisit when surgery, injury, or any other changes occur in his case.Regarding Mr. ***** statement that he has been unable to work with other pre-settlement funding companies due to the money he received from Oasis, Oasis cannot control whether other companies chose to ***** the complainants request for funding. Generally, within the pre-settlement funding industry, a pre-settlement funding company will not provide funding to a previously funded consumer unless it can buy-out the prior funding. Oasis received one buy-out request from another funding company on October 23, 2023. Information was provided to that company, but no further follow-up or contact was made by the company to Oasis to buy-out Mr. ***** funding with Oasis.
In each instance that ************ requested funding and was denied, he was informed of the reason he was denied and told to call back for further funding within 30 days or when there was a change in his case. Further funding was never promised and his requests for funding have not met Oasiss conservative underwriting standards. Should the facts related to Mr. ***** legal claim sufficiently change, Oasis will consider further requests for funding.

I am rejecting this response because: I am writing this from my hospital bed. Oasis has refused to explain why they are refusing to provide additional funding despite me meeting all their criteria for a change in the case, including having an additional surgery and being unable to work due to the actions of the defendant. The business that allegedly offered Oasis a buyout told me they didn't work on my type of case. Furthermore, my case is a complex combination of wrongful termination, personal injury, and sexual harassment and they refuse to redo their calculations.I will consider this resolved once they agree to pay the rest of the *****, as I was initially told by the Representative who dispersed the **** payment that I would be eligible to ultimately receive up to that amount in separate smaller installments at least 30 days apart. The reason I called earlier than the ********************************************************************************************************************************************** October.

We regret that we cannot provide ************ his requested relief at this time. Further,Oasis denies that any of its representatives told ************ that he would receive his total requested amount via several fundings beyond the funding that was approved to ************* At this time, there have not been sufficient changes in his case that would meet Oasiss conservative underwriting standards for further funding. Should there be sufficient updates in the future,Oasis will consider further fundings, but we cannot provide ************ with the approximately $22,000 in funding he is currently seeking.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: Oasis is not only continuing to lie about our interactions, they are refusing to address that they did not initiatally properly evaluate my case, nor honor major case changes such as my recent surgery. Therefore I cannot trust that would ever honor anything.I am willing to consider this matter resolved upon receipt of a final payment of ******, to be repaid in full with Oasis' interest rates upon conclusion of my case. I will give Oasis until end of business day Jan 20, **** to accept this, if they refuse then I will be contacting the appropriate regulatory and licensing agencies for an official investigation.

Entered by BBB Staff - lj Consumer applied online for an $800 loan December 7, 2023. Consumer was approved. He was receive the money in 24 to 48 hours. Consumer received approximately $470 on December 13th . Consumer contacted the company regarding not receiving the correct amount of $800. Company took $319 processing fees out of his account.Business Response
Date: 01/09/2024
Mr.***** complaint is that he received less than the amount requested after he applied for funding totaling $800.00, in that Oasis took $319.00 out of his account. ********************** denies any wrongdoing with regards to ************ and his funding.
First, *********** is incorrect to the facts of his complaint. ************ executed one non-recourse purchase agreement with a Purchase Amount of $800; following the payment of the fees disclosed to ************ (based on his disbursement selections), he received $567.00.
On December 12, 2023, ************ executed a non-recourse purchase agreement that provided both payment instructions by Oasis to ************, and a Disclosure Statement (on page 1) which broke down the total amount of funding to be paid to the plaintiff and the fees taken out from his total amount. ************ chose to receive a wire transfer of his funding directly into his bank account, and requested his payment be sent out as priority processing. Both selections had an associated fee that was disclosed to ************. Inclusive of a disclosed underwriting fee, the total amount for fees was $233.00. Pursuant to his selections and instructions, a wire transfer was successfully made into Mr. ***** bank account with his bank of choice totaling $567.00. Further on December 14, 2023,************ contacted Oasis again by phone, during which time Oasis and ************ discussed the fees disclosed in his funding agreement. As stated above, though ************ complains about the fees included within his funding agreement, these were specifically and prominently disclosed to him prior to his execution of the funding agreement and acknowledgment of the Disclosure Statement on page 1 of his funding agreement, which he initialed. Furthermore, to the extent that *********** was not satisfied with the terms of his funding agreement and the amount he received, he could have exercised his right of recission in Section 5.2 of his funding agreement, which he did not within five business days from the date of his funding.
Oasis fully disclosed the terms of its funding agreement with ************, which he acknowledged and agreed to. For this reason, Oasis considers this matter resolved.

I had lost my wallet, which included my driver's license, credit card, debit card, and social security number, among other private documents. I recently discovered that my personal information is being used by someone to impersonate me. My credit report has an unauthorized inquiry from December 09, 2021 that I discovered recently. I never gave permission to carry out this investigation, and I never did business with the aforementioned company. I have discussed this with the creditor, but they have not responded. Please investigate it and remove it from my credit report without delay.Business Response

Oasis is in the business of providing fundings on a non-recourse basis to consumers with pending personal injury claims to allow these consumers financial security during the pendency of their claims. Unlike any other transaction, Oasis requires that the consumer be represented by an attorney who reviews the fees and charges with the consumer prior to any funds being disbursed. The consumers then contract and agree to pay Oasis a predetermined amount based on the amount of money originally funded to them by Oasis if, and only if, their legal claim results in a positive recovery to the consumer. Preceding the Nonrecourse Purchase Agreement is a Credit and Information Release, in which customers like **************** authorize the acquisition by and disclosure to Oasis of consumer report for purposes of evaluating their funding application.
According to his complaint, **************** stated that he lost his wallet, and discovered his personal information was used by someone to impersonate him. He stated an unauthorized credit report was run by Oasis on his name on December 09, 2021, for which he never gave permission, and that he has never done business with Oasis.
According to our records, Oasis Financial has provided funding to **************** in relation to two separate legal claims. **************** first completed a funding transaction with Oasis on September 13, 2019. Later,in connection with a separate legal claim, **************** received presettlement funding from Oasis on December 24, 2020, February 24, 2021, April 27, 2021, and December 9, 2021. With regards to both legal claims, **************** was represented by the same personal injury attorney. Furthermore, the contact information provided by **************** in his complaint is substantially the same contact information shared with Oasis in connection with these fundings. In reviewing ****************** files and investigating this complaint, Oasis also contacted ***************** attorney, confirmed his identity, and confirmed that he was the person who received these presettlement fundings.
While we regret to hear that ****************** personal information was stolen, without further information, we have no reason to believe it was anyone but **************** that executed the funding agreements with Oasis and for whom we properly requested a consumer report. **************** specifically authorized Oasis Financial to request a consumer report in relation to that transaction and, in relation to his request for funding and execution of this transaction, Oasis Financial had a permissible purpose to request his consumer report in December 2021. For these reasons, ****************** complaint is without merit.Initial Complaint

I was in a car accident a year ago. Since, I have fallen on extremely hard times. My lawyer advised that I could use Oasis for financial relief. I did. I was given a fraction of the requested amount and told that this is how the process works. I would only get a small portion of what I asked to borrow and 30 days later I would have to reapply for the rest. I did. It wasn't clear when the 30 day count should begin. I was gaslit for months with the underwriter telling the agent to process my request then sending a denial email before I even hung up the phone. All calls are recorded and every time I called it was at the direction of an agent. I followed their instructions to the ** Every time the underwriter played games. I asked to speak with management and was refused. I asked for another underwriter. I was refused. The underwriter assigned to my case makes it a personal mission to gaslit me and jerk me around. People only come to this service out of desperation. I know that the services are not guaranteed but instead of flat out denial they mislead you and give different variations of why it is lawful to do so. I waited two months and completed the process again so that they could not keep using the same excuse only to be given an option of yet again a mere fraction of what I asked for, told there is no criteria to guide them into decision making and if I take it, forced to pay $1000 back. How is this lawful? They do not honor anything they advertise. Please check out the phone conversations between me and this business.Business Response

Oasis is in the business of providing funding on a non-recourse basis to consumers with pending personal injury claims to allow these consumers financial security during the pendency of their claims. Unlike virtually any other transaction, Oasis requires that the consumer be represented by an attorney who reviews the fees and charges with the consumer prior to any funds being dispersed. Oasis then evaluates the applicants request for funding pursuant to its underwriting standards in order to determine whether to provide funding to a prospective consumer.
After receiving a pre-settlement funding from Oasis in July 2023, the complainant made additional follow up requests for further funding on August 1st,August 14th, September 1, and October 20th. After her August and September requests for funding, the complainant was denied funding but told she could reapply later if there were any updates to her case that might impact Oasiss underwriting of her requests for funding. In each case during August and September, there were insufficient updates to her case such that Oasis declined complainants requests for funding based on its conservative underwriting standards. After Complainant made their fifth funding request on October 20, 2023, this request was approved, and a copy of a Nonrecourse Purchase Agreement was sent to the complainant and their attorney for signature. Oasis resent the agreement to the complainant on October 30,November 1 and November 6 with follow-up calls made to complainant on November 1, and November 6. The agreement remains unsigned.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: this is not 100% accurate. The calls are recorded. I was gaslit. I was denied not due to lack of change in the case but due to calling too soon. Even though I called on the dates that I was told to call back. I was asked to speak to a manager several times and was flat out denied (Again recorded). I requested $4000. I received $1000 and was told ' This is the process. You tell us what you need, we give a portion and you have to apply again in 30 days to get the rest.' (Recorded calls) It wasn't made clear the 30 days started at the acceptance. I applied 30 days after initial approval. I was denied due to calling in too soon. I asked what date I could call back. I called on that date. Again denied for the same reason. This repeated 3 more times. One if which I called in and asked for a manager (as I was instructed) the agent speaks to the underwriter who tells her to 'Go ahead and process the request.' Before the call is hung up, I receive a denial for asking too soon. I ask for criteria list or guidelines that the underwriters use to make these decisions I was told there isn't a set policy or guideline they follow (Again, calls are recorded). So basically they make decisions however they want to. I asked for another underwriter and was told they are all in one room and make decisions together. Which means the company as a whole agreed that it was okay to tell the agent to process my request just to deny it and extend the waiting period knowing there was an extreme need for these funds. The last go round, I believe I requested $200 (There have been varying amounts and multiple attempts) they sent a contract for $500 with a $1000 guaranteed return on their loan. I opted to go through a different loan company and was offered a way bigger line of credit with less return as long as I uphold my payment schedule. What Oasis did was cruel and abusive.
Sincerely,

Oasis regrets that ************** was unsatisfied with her experience, but Oasis denies any wrongdoing. ************** made multiple requests for subsequent funding but was denied additional funding because there had been insufficient changes to her case to support more funds from Oasis. Oasis underwrites its fundings based on the strength of the consumer's legal claim. In this case, Oasis provided a funding to ************** based on the information shared with Oasis about her legal claim. Despite her repeated requests for subsequent funding, there were no further updates to her case that could support additional funding from Oasis. While ************** feels that she was given different reasons for the denial of her funding requests. Oasis consistently communicated to her that her subsequent requests for funding were too early because there had been insufficient changes to her case to support further funding.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:I apologize. I was ill during Thanksgiving week and was unable to respond. Then I honestly forgot trying to catch up with other responsibilities. My apologies.I do not feel that this is being answered truthfully. These calls are recorded. I was gaslit! I would at least like an explanation for why I was told by the underwriter to go ahead and submit a request just for them to send an immediate denial and cause me to have to wait until a date even further down the road. If it was true that I didn't qualify for additional funding due to no change in mu case, then why did they approve me for a much smaller amount after I waited almost 2 months after the previous denial? Also, I would like to know what rubric or guideline they use for determination. They are not being true ro what they advertise in commercials and Ads. They are not honest and do not respect the hardships people are facing when they are coming in for help.Sent via the ******* Galaxy S21 5G, an AT&T 5G smartphone

I have submitted several lawsuit settlements to this company since 2021. They keep the case number one minute then the next minute the case numbers are gone or destroyed within their system. I have several cases that is still pending with Oasis Pre-settlement. I have over 41 dollars in waited on settlements and attorneys states that this company are listed as scammers to both attorneys and customers. I need to speak with someone who are the decision maker or the ones who can customize on all of my lawsuit pending cases. Time has already been wasted from over the last 2-3 years.Business Response

The complainant has made two applications for funding, the first was submitted in 2021 and the second in 2023. Regarding the complainants 2021 application, she did not have an attorney representing her in her legal action when she originally applied for funding; however, her application was re-activated in June 2023 after she did acquire legal representation. Nevertheless, Oasis declined to provide funding to the complainant based on its conservative underwriting standards. Regarding her 2023 application for funding relating to a different legal claim, Oasis had to close the pending application pending its receipt of information needed to underwrite her request for funding. Should Oasis Financial receive the information needed to underwrite the complainants request for funding, we will review the complainants request further.
Oasis Financial is BBB Accredited.
This business has committed to upholding the BBB Standards for Trust.
