I went to this organization for a home equity debt consolidation loan. You'd this given their name, a disabled veteran would be welcomed and treated with a little respect. Well, sorry to say, I received everything but respect. The loan officer assigned to me was unhelpful and stated "I wasn't even serious" about acquiring a loan. After numerous other places investigated, I wanted more information up front before I just gave another person all my information. That was not acceptable to this individual. I am thankful in the end, because of this individual, I went to another bank that does treat veterans with respect and have a Veterans First motto, not just a name pretending to do such. Look somewhere else veterans. This facility does not have your best interest at heart.

Two years ago, I insured a home I own. The insurance was for a period of three years, and if you didn't want to pay all of it up front, *************** Financing (Wintrust) offered financing. Recently the last of my three annual payments came due. The invoice alleged I had been 6 days late with last year's payment and carried a surprise late fee of $226.70 (equal to 260 per cent per annum). I had paid the bill directly from my bank (i.e., with an internet check that is sent directly to the payee by the bank (***). I discovered from *** records that 1) I had asked *** to send my check for arrival by the due date (9 April), 2) *** allows six days to deliver checks, and mailed mine even farther in advance of the due date, i.e., on April 1; and 3) *************** did not cash this check until the 15th, and applied the whopping late fee. Armed with this info (which *** kindly faxed to *************** Financing) I spoke to First to challenge the late charge. First wasn't interested in the facts described above, but waived the fee "as a one-time courtesy." I strongly suspect it is their business practice to attach BS fees to their invoices, which they are prepared instantly to remove, if challenged. At any rate they seem to assume that their customers have agreed to insure their own dilatory check processing, which of course is entirely within their control. Moral: investigate and challenge any late fees *************** Financing claims you owe them.

I have a small business that recently legitimized as of 8/2024. When I initially reached out to the branch manager to discuss opening a checking and savings account with **********************, I filled her in on the nature of our contracts and annual profits and conducted a several hour long interview. To my expectations, we settled on a small business checking and savings. I informed her of our needs for ***** and the ability to deposit and access checks quickly and was assured they would be met. I was handed a folder with my terms and conditions, she shook my hand and off I went. Things I was not informed about at account opening that I learned in the following days:- the savings had a daily limit of $1000 also I could not make deposits into it at the atm when I was trying to because it was not valid. They were about to charge me fees.- I had a Zelle limit of only 3 people a day and somewhere between $1500-2000/a day limit - I did not have access to mobile banking as promised, also portal functionality is terrible I attempted to sort these issues out to no avail. Then 11/2024 I went to make a deposit at the branch atm. The *** ate the check and spat out a deposit slipthe only record of the money my business madeI had it resolved with customer service. 12/2024 I attempted to deposit funds, the *** would not accept anything, so the next day I went into the branch to deposit in person. I handed over $3,544 in checks, a very specific amount, and receive a deposit slip for $2,258, which was absolutely no combination of numbers looking at the checks I gave. All of these were corporate checks. None of them were illegitimate. When I pointed this out my checks were quickly recalculated and I was handed a slip for $3,544. The slip I was initially given, thrown out by the ********* is the middle of December 2024. This account was opened in August 2024. I am closing as of Friday when I meet with the bank I should have gone with from the start.

Been with Wintrust since 2020 and always raved about them, but in retrospect havent really had much cause to interact at all. $20000 cashiers check from a major reputable bank deposited by myself into my account in person on October 25th. With no explanation as to why, when I asked, they will not release the funds into my account until November 1st. Avoid this bank at all costs. I am selling a condo and was planning on depositing $100K in there on Nov 8th but h*** no - it is beyond obvious they are holding onto the funds so they can earn interest and I am genuinely tempted to initiate legal action but Im sure their fine print covers them. Am 100% ditching this account next month. Cashiers checks are intended to provide extra security and this was treated like a personal check I deposited over my phone. Unbelievable. As if anyone has the means to sit back and wait for cash to flow. A bank above all should know this.
