    My sister passed away unexpectedly on 5/22/2024. Our family desired an autopsy to accomplish two goals - first, to determine cause of death; second, to determine if there was any alcohol or drugs in her system at the time of death. The funeral director recommended Forensic Mortuary Services to provide these services. We contracted with them directly, and they charged $4000 for the gross anatomy autopsy plus $500 for toxicology. The autopsy was performed and we received a report of those findings. We were told it would take about 30 days to receive the toxicology results. After about 40 days, I began reaching out to FMS for an update on status of the toxicology results. I received no response at first, then got an email saying they would arrange a conference call with **********. After that, no further response to my calls or emails until I received an email from ********** on July 29. It said that because a cause of death was determined by the autopsy, there is no need to order the toxicology blood test. After that, zero responses to any of my calls or emails, including no explanation of why they charged $500 for a test they subsequently did not perform. At this point, we are hopeful they did draw fluids and still have them to order the tests. Barring that, we need an explanation of what happened and a refund.

    We ordered an autopsy from Forensic Mortuary Services on August 25, 2023. The body was picked up at the funeral home by *******************************, who we also talked to on the phone. We gave them a cashier's check of $3,300. The autopsy was supposedly completed by Shiping Bao, MD on August 27, 2023, then the body was returned on August 28, 2023. We were told that the final report would be mailed to us after 4-6 weeks. That timeframe has passed and we still have not received the final report. We were also told that the doctor would call us to have a conference and explain the results, which never happened.Forensic Mortuary Services is ignoring our emails and hung up on us when we called to ask when the final report would be sent. They are refusing to answer any questions.

    The autopsy was completed by Forensic Mortuary Services on Feb 20, 2023, and the death certificate issued March 28, 2023. I was told that the autopsy report would take ***** days after the autopsy. When I did not receive it April 2023, I started calling and leaving messages. I want the complete truth in the autopsy, so I was not trying to apply any pressure. The pathologist that performed the autopsy passed away right after he released the death certificate and I understand that. I called again around May 20. I placed several more calls after that, but they did not call me back. Regardless of their internal problems they should be calling me back at the very least. My husband passed away suddenly and that is why I had the autopsy done. This is a very emotional time for me, and they need to fulfill their obligation to me by providing the complete autopsy report. Since they did not reply to my phone messages, I emailed the facility director **************** on May 29, 2023. His response was Good day, we are working with **************** to get reports finalized on behalf of ****************. We will convey reports as soon as its ready and released. Thank you. I found a phone number for **************** ************ and left a voice mail for him. He never returned my call. I called once more on September 22, 2023, emailed director ****************, and did not get a response. It has now been 7 months going on 8 since the autopsy of my late husband ****************************. When I paid for this autopsy, it was in good faith that they would keep their end of this contract. Their inability to call or even now email me back is so insensitive during this most difficult time.
