I received a call on 3/10/2025 from phone number **************. A man named *** ***** left a voicemail claiming he's from a firm, and I need to contact him about "an important matter". He told me to call him back at **************. I ignored the call, but I saved the voicemail. After that, I got a letter in the mail from CMAGI (C&M Associates Group******). They listed that I owe $3,278.49 for some creditor named named Cash Connection. I don't recognize that company. They didn't list an origination date, credit or loan terms. I looked online about this so-called law firm or collector, and people are calling it a scam. I believe it is too. The letter is unprofessional. The phone call came from an ****** area code, but the company has an address in ********. Why the discrepancy in contact information? I got another call on 4/7/2025 from the same guy. I know some collections have limitations. I want absolute proof of when the loan was originated, original loan/creditor name (since I do NOT recognize the name on the letter), terms of agreement and any other proof. The letter has more information on ways to pay this so-called debt, but very little about the loan. This makes it more likely to be a scam. Plus, I want to know how they got my current address and phone number, in case I need to report them to a government agency.Business Response

I received several calls from a company identified as C&M Associates. During the first call, an "account specialist" informed me that I had an outstanding balance of $1,287.00 from Cash Connection. I attempted to explain that this debt was not mine and that I had never engaged in any business with that company. However, he did not listen, became frustrated, and ended the call. I chose not to answer the second call, but they left a voicemail stating it was urgent for me to return their call, providing the number ************. The third call was similar. I am growing weary of this harassment when I know I don't owe any money.Business Response

On 08/06/2024 @3:05pm MST I received a call about an important matter and it was urgent for me to call ******************* at ************. I did return the call from my vehicle in my driveway 08/072024 @ 2:45pm. When calling the person on the other end of the phone answered as if not knowing who I was. I told her I was looking for ******************* and who I was. She then proceeded to jump right in when I told her who I was. **** commenced to tell me that I had a loan from **************************************** 2016. Interesting I moved from ********** to ******** in 2013 and recalled no loan other than my student loan at that time. **** commenced to tell me that she sees I had improved my credit and this was my opportunity to save my credit. I told **** that she can send all information and the alleged **** information to me in the mail to my address. **** would not tell me what the alleged **** was and for how much. She stated that there was a letter mailed to me on june 5th. I informed her i did NOT receive anything what so ever from her organization. (I also recall that a **** collector is to reachout to a person within 5 days of mailing a notification letter). I then informed **** that our conversation was being recorded. (My ******** was recording the whole conversation). I live in the state of ** where only one party needs to be aware of a recorded line. **** then became upset , angry and down right mean. She yelled at me about saying she did not give me permission to record. She spat out law information that was incorrect and hard to understand. ******************* belligerent over talking me. **** also threatened my credit , she over talked me, tried to degrade me and, then hung up. Many things went wrong with this interaction. I am a disabled ************ combat Veteran. I do not take take spam or dishonest rude calls lightly. This company is not accredited and has so many complaints throughout the internet about how it wrongfully does business in a discusting fashion.Business Response

I was called on 6/26/24 from ************, and ************ from Chadworth and Macon regarding an attempt to settle an outstanding debt from an old payday loan I supposedly took out from EZCorp/EZMoney from April 2012, and that payments stopped in 2015. She advised they sent out an "offer to settle", that included debt verification, to my previous place of residence on May 3rd. Which I did not receive. I asked for some documentation regarding the original debt, and a copy of what they mailed me, and she advised they mailed an offer to settle, and she wasn't going to just "reopen" an offer to settle, but was willing to work with me. But still no actual documentation on the original debt. She indicated an old bank account is where the loan funds was sent, which I did have, but that account closed that same year. The phone call did get heated when I pressed for more information, and the caller threatened to file suit in my county of residence, which I responded that I would be sure to hire an attorney to help me. The caller then responded with, "well you're gonna pay more money then". I told the caller I was very overwhelmed because I didn't have any recollection of this debt, and that I had never been contacted before, even though she stated "several" agencies have tried to collect this debt, the caller advised that "I knew what I did" and that she has seen my credit before and now. At the end of the call, she indicated she would not file suit until Friday, and gave me a few days to investigate on my end. I reached out to EZCorp/******* directly, and they have no record of me having an account with them whatsoever, nor an outstanding debt. I have no issue resolving a debt I owe, however, I have no information on this debt, and the company they are supposedly collecting on behalf of, has no information for me. This is very unsettling that this company is threatening me with suit for a debt I don't I think I have, and has all my personal information.Business Response

I was called on 5/1/24 at 2:40 PM. The phone number was 708'******** and have me the number ************ to call back. They called asking for my wife and wild not tell me why they were calling. Did research on the company and the phone number. Found that they try to get consumers to pay for debts that do not exist. We have no debts that are in collections.Business Response

I received a phone call from this business. The gentleman said he was collecting debt from 2013 or 2014 from EZ Money. I reached out to what is known now as Speedycash. They looked up my account and said that is was filed in my bankruptcy from 2012 and that it had not been referred to a collection agency. The gentleman was very nice. I asked him to provide me in writing the information on the debt such as a contract and the the last payment amount that he said was received in 2017. This phone call was very disturbing. They had pulled my credit report and was telling me about my current debts. I will be reaching out to the **************** *********************** to get information on this company and the statue of limitations. If this is a true debt that is owed, I would like to get a copy of the contract that I signed and information on the last payment that was received. This company even had bank information from a previous bank account that I had. What was more concerning I have been with my current bank since 2014. How can they put something on my credit from 2014 or 2017.Business Response

I got a phone call at my work and I called to request a letter. I received the letter and it is from a creditor that I do not owe nor have I ever owed. So I sent them an email and a letter to cease and desist any calls or letters to me. Hopefully this works because they have been calling my work.Business Response

C&M Associates phone number ************* located in ***********, ** has called me and my parents, whom I no longer live with and whose phone number would not be the same as it was when I supposedly incurred the debt, they are supposedly trying to collect. I asked the gentleman who called me his name is *************************** for any information he had on the debt they were trying to collect as I have never done business with an EZ Corp EZ Money before, he gave dates in 2014 and told me money was deposited into my checking account and he even knew my former address and my former employer but that was all the information he had he then transferred me to his supervisor who was a woman and whose name I can't remember and she told me a totally different date than he did from 2013 and she told me I should go to my bank to get more information on this loan after giving me a deposit date. First of all I went to my bank and there is no deposit from any payday loan company on or around the time they claim this was deposited so I then called EZ Corp EZ Money who has numerous complaints about the same type of thing happening to many many other people on the Better Business Bureau's website and they even have a warning about this type of thing on their BBB profile and she said they get between ****** calls a day about this same situation. She ran my name and social security number through her database and confirmed I have never done business with them. She said I should reach out to the ************************ to report this as it is a scam which I have done. They claim they did their due diligence but I think not since this is clearly happening to a ton of others. I asked the *** to shut this company down.Business Response

On 01/22/2024, I received a phone call from phone number ************. I did not answer but the caller left a voicemail. In the voicemail, a person stated their name is *************************? on behalf of C & M Associates Group. The caller stated that there is a time sensitive matter that needs my urgent attention and advised me to call ************. I researched this number and it returns to C & M Associates Group. I contacted C & M Associates Group and spoke with someone that sounded exactly like the caller that left the voicemail. He advised that he is attempting to collect a debt and advised that the debt occurred in 2013 and that the original creditor is EZCorp EZMoney. I researched EZCorp EZMoney and found out that they used to be a payday loan service that was shut down by the *** in 2015. I knew in fact that I have never had business with this company and have never taken out a payday loan. I relayed this to the caller and he began to state that he has all of my information. He told me he knows my address, my social, my previous employer, and my bank account information and correctly told me this information. He said the debt is real and I am liable for it. I again told him I am confident that I did not ever have business with EZ Corp in any way and asked for proof. He stated that they would put the debt in dispute and that they would provide proof that the debt was real and that I can compare signatures to show it's mine. I was able to locate a number for EZCorp's corporate office and contacted them. A recording played saying "If you receive a call or letter stating you owe money on a debt do not pay and contact local law enforcement". I spoke with a customer service agent and she looked up my info to determine if I was ever a customer. She advised that there is no record that I had ever had business with them in any way and never owed a debt. The customer service agent also advised me to contact the ***. I contacted C & M Associates group and spoke with ******. I told him what ****** told me and that I will contact the ***. ****** quickly stated that I shouldn't worry about it and that they've already closed the debt and that I don't owe anything. This seems odd that a debt collection company is trying to intimidate me by telling me my personal information and demanding payment but then quickly decides to just close the account. I feel that they are operating in a fraudulent matter with ghost debts seeing who they can go after that will pay money on a debt they don't actually owe.Business Response
