    I had one of the worst experiences of my life with Coffey Bros Moving Company. What was supposed to be a professional move quickly turned into a nightmare. I provided my ID and trusted them with all of my personal belongings, only to end up feeling completely victimized and blindsided by unexpected charges that were never clearly explained upfront.Things escalated to the point where I had to call the police. Authorities told the movers to finalize payment and release my property. Instead, two of the three movers left, and the remaining ******* told me he was instructed to unload my belongings onto the street. That is completely unethical and nowhere in the service agreement.I felt unsafe, disrespected, and helpless. At one point, I almost fell off the truck as the ******* attempted to drive off with my things still inside. That moment solidified how unprofessional and careless this company truly is.I would never recommend Coffey Bros to anyone. I dont trust them with my property, my time, or my safety. My move was never completed, and I will not be using their services again.

    We moved on April 2nd from *******, ******** to *******. Wisconsin and we had decided to use coffee brothers moving as they gave us the best quote. They quoted us $900 and then they came in with a 3 man crew with a small truck, so they took most of the stuff, but there wasn't enough room to take everything and then, when the truck arrived here in ******* *********, we had to sign forward and the bill was over $3000. Then yesterday as I've been unpacking. I noticed my bedroom night. Stand door was cracked from top to bottom and if I move it. It's gonna come off .We had called the company and they said oh well, call the complaint department. I don't know if you can assist but I would appreciate any help that can be given.     Summary of the Incident: I hired Coffey Bros. Moving for a local move, based on a signed estimate quoting a pricerange of $278.00 to $352.50. The movers arrived late and took an unreasonably long amount of time, and thenattempted to charge me for unexpected and undisclosed services, including reassembly offurniture. I was pressured to pay the remaining balance via Venmo, rather than by credit card,despite having paid a deposit by card. This payment method offers no consumerprotection and was clearly intended to avoid chargeback risk. The final amount charged was $808.66, more than double the original estimate.Additionally, your crew damaged the freight elevator in my building, dropping woodfrom a crate into the elevator groove and affecting its operation.I immediately contacted the company via email on January 2, 2025, to dispute the charges andexpress my concerns. After receiving no meaningful response, I followed up again on February13, at which point the company finally replied but refused to offer a fair resolution. Only afterfollowing their internal claims process did I proceed with a formal chargeback through my creditcard *********** response, Coffey Bros. Moving sent me a threatening email claiming that my disputeconstituted theft of labor, falsely citing Illinois criminal statute 720 ILCS 5/16-3 and warningof potential felony charges, police reports, and $20,000 in legal fees. They further threatened tosend the disputed debt to collections and report it to credit bureaus while the chargeback processis still active and under investigation.These are clear intimidation tactics, attempting to suppress a legitimate consumer disputethrough harassment, legal misrepresentation, and coercion. This behavior, in my opinion, mayviolate both consumer protection laws and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), andcould constitute unfair or deceptive business practices under federal and state law.

    I am rejecting this response because: I attempted multiple times to speak with your business, and have phone records, even after receiving a $40 credit, which was unsatisfactory. I want the inflated charges added to be refunded. It was incredibly misleading and predatory. Additionally, your threatening email was incredibly inappropriate. I am not withdrawing the chargeback, unless youre crediting me a difference via check or some other form of payment.

    I am rejecting this response because: The business has required me to withdraw my dispute with the credit card company, before they are willing to review and investigate further. However, once the dispute is withdrawn, I cannot reissue the chargeback, if we are not able to find a resolution. This business has not acted in good faith and has a public pattern of exploiting and taking advantage of customers. As you can see in the email exchange that was uploaded, I attempted to give them another opportunity to provide a fair and reasonable resolution. They can conduct further review while the chargeback is pending, but again, this demonstrates to me another predatory tactic to undermine me as the customer and not resolve the issue. At this point, I have no interest in going back and forth with the merchant and will let my credit card company continue their process and review all the documentation that I have provided.

    We moved on the February 28, 2025 from ******************** to our current address in **************, I received a quote from Coffey Bros. moving for $997.50 for the items I had to move. We even had less items because we moved some ourselves. *** ******* who I spoke to at the company said it would be around that price. On February 4, 2025 I gave them a deposit of $260.00 on my credit card. When everything arrived they would not bring anything in until I got to the house to pay them. When I got there they took about 45 minutes before they even started because they said they were having trouble processing the card. They processed the amount of $1968.23 twice and had to issue a credit of $1968.23. When I called *** ******* about the amount he told us it was because it took more time because of wrapping the items. We were not told about anything like this when we booked the move. I also told them about a small dent the movers put in my new front door plus an oil stain that their truck left on my new concrete driveway. I have called them 3 times to try and resolve this but they keep putting me off. We are seniors and they think we don't care but this is our money and items. We would like an adjustment for our damages and the price which from $997.50 are out to be $2228.25. I hope you can help us so it doesn't keep happening to others.

    Coffey Bros. Moving Company arrived to move my elderly wife and I on 3/25/2025. My contact was **** ******* ******************************* ************ She assured me of the price of $365.00 initially, and then I inquired about hidden fees I hear about these companies. After pressing her she said now there were fees for assembly and disassembly of two beds for $50.00. Of course, I was a little concerned she didnt tell me this at first. Then she assured me again there were no other fees and the total was $415.00, and I eventually agreed. I paid them $250.00 deposit. We triple checked the inventory of 12 pieces and it never changed. They moved the exact 12 pieces we stated. Now we were only moving one floor below our exact unit in the same building! I attempted to call them the day before just to ensure they were coming at the specified time, and they did. However, no one answered my calls on Three separate lines. That night before I checked on the estimate and it again stated $415.00. Well, they show up and start moving us and the movers got a message from their company that we owe them an additional $414.00. I talked to a guy who couldnt justify the sudden price increase. He said it was because of assembly and disassembly??? I said its clear as day thats already included. Then he said wrappings and blankets??? He was speaking to a lady in the background the whole time giving directions. He even came back with a final of $228.00. $63.00 more than I actually had for a balance. I had no choice, they already had furniture down by the elevator and in the elevator at this point. They kept calling the movers to stop moving, until I paid this overcharge! This is their scam. What could I do at this point. The movers initially said this was the easiest move they ever had! Then after the delays about the pricing and haggling with them, they charge me an extra $74.37 for a extra half-hour! And again called their guys to stop moving unless I paid.

    I contacted Coffey Bros Moving and spoke with **** who was very helpful with scheduling a move for me for February 14. I let him know that I had everything wrapped and that I just needed to be moved. The estimate quoted was $470 and I paid the deposit of $260.***** and his colleague showed up to start the move and brought rolls of tape, blankets, and boxes. I told them I didnt need anything wrapped, that it was all packed. I was informed that they had to, it was their job, and that they are required to take photos of the truck once it is loaded. I understood this to be a requirement on their part, not mine. Once we got to the home, ***** gave me the new estimate that was OVER $1300. That was not including the tip that I gave them. While moving is a stressful time in itself, being taken advantage of by a moving company was not what I was expecting. The boss who I spoke with on the phone was not helpful at all and very condescending. Though I kept saying I didnt want wrapping and boxing on top of what I had already done, not one person EVER told me I would have to pay for boxes, packing tape, etc. THE MOVERS TOLD ME THEY HAD TO. Also, when I spoke with **** I was told that travel time would not be included in the moving time that was charged hourly, that the $140 travel fee covered that. ***** told me that was incorrect, so I was essentially billed the $140 travel fee on top of the hourly rate for them to drive, another example of being taken advantage of by Coffey Bros Moving.I was taken advantage of by being told they had to wrap everything, when I kept stating I didnt want it, everything was packed already, and packed well. This is wrong and a money grab. The move would not have taken long at all if they didnt wrap everything. Everything I kept saying regarding wrapping was disregarded so they could get more money out of me.The amount paid below is the total invoice of $1196.81 +$80 Tip that I had to send via Zelle.

    It was confirmed last Wednesday, Feb. 19 by Coffey Bros. that: Upon further investigation, I do see that you opted to sign the "Release of Liability" form to not have your items properly wrapped and protected to avoid damages.
    Please allow me to speak with management to address the charges for materials and get back to you.

    I reached out on Thursday, Feb. 20 and was told Management was out of the office.

    I reached out on Friday and was told I would have an answer by Monday, Feb. 24th.

    I reached out end of day Monday, Feb. 24th and received an email today, Feb. 25th stating, "We do apologize for the delay. We appreciate your patience."

    The movers spent over 2 hours using their own materials that I continually requested, verbally and in writing, I didn't want or need.  I should be compensated for all packing material and time spent doing it and unwrapping it.  I also deserve a timely, productive response as it has been a week and I want to put this horrible experience behind me.

    Horrible practices by a company to treat their customers like this.  Though every scenario is different, after ready many reviews, I'm kicking myself for using this company.  I am contacting ***** and will email all info to a news investigative team.

    I contracted Coffey Bros Moving for my January 29, 2024 move. I was provided an initial estimate of $930, but by the end of the move, I was charged $3,286.36, a staggering 253%increase.The company: Failed to honor its quote and claimed unexpected charges.     After a thorough investigation of this claim was completed, here is what we found. Upon arrival, the customer was told this move was going to take longer then originally estimated and was asked to sign a "Revision to Estimate" (attached) for to the following reasons: More items/furniture than originally provided in the estimate, more boxes than originally provided in the estimate, packing is not complete and additional packing is required, items require special handling, additional time and preparation, and lastly, additional time is needed to disassemble and reassemble furniture.     I am writing this with tears in my eyes because no one should have to go through what I experienced with this company. As a single mother, I trusted them to honor our agreement, but they preyed on me and took advantage of my situation. The pain and distress they caused me will stay with me for a long time.I spoke with an agent named ******, who originally quoted me $420 but reduced it to $400 after I explained my financial situation. I provided specific details about my items and budget, and he assured me this amount covered everything.On Saturday, I confirmed the details and made a $250 deposit, with $150 due upon completion. I found it odd they wouldnt let me pay in full upfront, but I trusted their process.On moving day, I reminded the movers I couldnt pay more than the agreed amount. They reassured me there were no extra charges, except $5 for tape. The movers loaded my belongings and drove to my new home. Once there, they informed me my balance was now $750. Shocked, I questioned this increase, but they were evasive and connected me to their manager, ****** ********.****** was condescending, dismissive, and added fees for time spent discussing the issue. He pressured me to pay $480 more, saying he would take my belongings to storage if I didnt comply. I felt powerless and humiliated.****** refused to review recorded calls or honor the original quote. Its clear this company planned to extort me from the start. I ended up paying $785.56 some how. They are so wrong on so many levels.Their practices are unethical and illegal. I am demanding an apology and a full refund. This company must be investigated to prevent others from enduring similar abuse. Please avoid them at all costs.

    I was quoted roughly $1400 to move a 1900 square-foot townhouse. Turned out to be a ************************************************************* my garage, the total was somewhere around 5250. They told me they were not going to remove my items off the truck until Payment. They also did damage to my floor I put in a complaint with their customer service and have not heard anything.

    so I graciously accepted the fact that they were going to make me an offer I spoke with our customer relations person who is no longer with the company, according to whoever is sending emails from the claims department. They said in ******** moving costs are what they are and there's nothing I can do about it.I've sent in all the information it was a $1400 estimate I told him our situation and they charged me over $5200, also did damage to my floor that I paid Insurance to cover they are not acknowledging that at all.  I would like to reopen the claim

    I am rejecting this response because: the ******* did not inform me of a second trip until they arrived at my new home with the first load, he told me while he was loading the first load he let a new guy do it and he was redoing it so everything would fit. I was informed there would be a second load when they got to my home with the first load, he informed me they would not offload the truck unless I agreed and paid the new price of over $5000. They did damage to my floor that I bought insurance from the *******, they have completely disregarded that, I paid for at least two of their truck breakdowns admittedly from their *******. These people are lying they have terrible reviews they bullied us into over 5000 in a moving cost a two bedroom townhouse

    Received a quote. Gave the deposit. Movers loaded my dads items, and then I was presented with a bill that was more than $300 over the amount quoted the day before.
