The power was going to be turned on this day. The schedule time 7:30am to 12:30 pm per the rep that we spoke to last night. There would not be a call headed of time for this time frame put if we scheduled 12:30 to 4 there would be. I drove to my daughter's house to wait for the power to be turned on. Cold morning the home was 47 degree's. By 12:05 I called Center Point to see where they where at. Per ****** it's an open ticket and they will be here by 4 pm. I explained the time was 7:30 to 12:30. She said that things come up between. I have an appointment at 1:30 can you check to see about when they can be here. No we can not do that. What is I need to leave and no one is here. Then the power will not get turned on. Here it is 5 hours into the cold and if I don't stay they will not turn on the power. There has got to be a better way there this. It is unexceptionable!

We apologize that the order was not completed in the timeframe that was scheduled. We do show that the service was turned on the day the day the order was scheduled, just not in the morning as requested. We appreciate you bringing this issue to our attention as it enables us to be able to identify errors that have occurred and ways to prevent them in the future.

I wanted to know why the work order was closed out after I called. When I called the 2 nd time is when they told me it was turned on and that was not the case. If it is going to be longer a curtsey call would have been great

      Business Response
When the original order was entered into the system, the service was showing as being on. Because of this, the order was seen as a read only order behind the scenes and was cancelled since the service was still showing active in our system (even though the service was not on). Unfortunately, this issue was not discovered until you contacted Customer Service back later in the day. We apologize for any inconvenience this caused.

Last summer *** Construction installed a new fence for the neighbor behind me. In the process, they damaged some of the utility lines, taking out the internet, and damaging the Centerpoint power connection, which failed later. The power failure made my a/c stop working so I called my service provider. They charged me $248 for a service call that turned out to be due to the power failure. I think *** should be responsible for that since they did the damage. I called and spoke with the manager of the fencing crew who blamed the problem on Centerpoint. He was supposed to get with them and call me back. That's been nearly a month ago and he has not called. I have called the owner ****** ***** 4 or 5 times and he's never there and never calls back.

When replacing poles actually in neighbor yard instead of walking around or going threw neighbor yard they decide to undo my fence and then could not fix and left broke. I called them and know it is obvious that there female rep I talked to me lied to me when they said it would take 3 months for them to fix. I am guessing she never filed a complaint or this company blew off my complaint.

My bill has always been due on the 8th of every month for as long as I can remember. My payment history even reflects payments being made no later than the 8th. I called to pay my bill on December 7th and was informed my account is now past due as or December 5th. I did not ask for my due date to be changed nor was I informed of this change. I absolutely view this as theft or at least some sort of fraud. It's bad enough I, as a single parent of 3, dont run my furnace because I cant afford it but now this?

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding your account. Customer's due dates can fluctuate from month to month as the monthly meter read does not take place on the same date every single month. The due date can fluctuate by a few days every month; however, your due date will be 17 days from the day that your bill generates every month. In review of the account, there were a couple months over the past year where the due date fell as early as the 5th of the month (in June 2022 and December 2021). The due date is reflected on the monthly billing statement.
If you have any additional questions regarding your account, please feel free to contact Customer Service at X-XXX-XXX-XXXX.

      Consumer Response
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
"Fluctuations" is an unacceptable excuse. Having due dates is how people know when they have to pay their bills. An unexpected and unannounced change due date that leads to extra charges or changes the the payment options for the customer is dirty business. Just so happened to "fluctuate" in time to increase December revenue through imposing unexpected late fees on customers.

      Business Response
We apologize that we are not able to provide the same due date every month. The due date has never been the exact same day every month in review of the account. If at any time you need an extension or payment arrangement, please feel free to contact Customer Service at X-XXX-XXX-XXXX and an agent would be happy to assist you.

I want to start by saying I know how much my bill is, when I made the last payment, and what customer service said when I spoke to them. I was shut off a few weeks ago while I was in the hospital and not available I just want to say that back on July I set up payment arrangements and was told by customer service that because have been receiving emergency rental assistance that I would not be disconnected and she was making my arrangements for 9 months with manager approval, with nothing down and also said it would get me until cape started applications in November I never received an agreement about the arrangement or anything in the mail after I was told that I would be ok due to the rental assistance but just like if you receive help from cape there is a winter moratorium but I got shut off last year also I give up

In review of the account, the account was set up on a 6-month payment arrangement on 7/15/22. A letter detailing the payment arrangement was mailed to your home address the same day. The agent you spoke with on 7/29/22 advised that $436.45 was due on 8/11/22 and if that amount was paid by that date, the account was safe from disconnection. However, a payment was not received by 8/11/22 so the payment arrangement broke, and the account was subject to disconnection at any time. The electric service was disconnected on 8/25/22. A $500.00 payment was eventually received on the account but not until 9/14/22.
Please contact Customer Service at X-XXX-XXX-XXXX to obtain a reconnection quote.

I scheduled a start service call online eight days ago! I got a confirmation email in return confirming the service call Monday morning. I waited all day and no one ever showed up nor did they call! Tuesday I called them and talk to someone in person. He was very nice he reassured me that everything was good to go and they would be here this morning between eight and noon. Four hour window is ridiculous. Furthermore, I waited here all day again no call no show from centerpoint energy! They have cost me $1200 in income in two days. Not a phone call not a courtesy email nor was I put on the schedule for the following day. I don't know why electric companies are allowed to be in monopoly. They would not treat their customers like this if they had competition I'm just saying! But they're all in it together with the crooked politicians. I'm getting so tired of the bureaucracy and ******** in this country I have kids I haven't taken a warm shower in eight days. I run a business in my line of work is outside, it's been hot as **** and I have nowhere to cool off. These people don't care they should honestly pay me my wages for the two days they wasted. I would be understandable if I would've got a phone call or something but I have received nothing from them I didn't even get an apology from the guy on the phone the second time around. So now it's probably gonna be Friday or Monday before I get service on in my home! Did I mention I run a business from home. It's kind a hard to do that. They are ruining my credibility and my on time record for jobs!

In review of the account, there were two meters located at the **** * *** * ********** IN address. One of the addresses had "Heat" after the address and it was discussed that you thought it may be the pole barn. The agent asked if the one listed with nothing after was the meter that needed turned on and was told yes. We apologize for the mishap and any confusion that there was with what meter went to what. We show the electric has been turned on at the correct meter at this time. We have applied the $70.00 deposit that you paid to start service back to your account as a courtesy.

CenterPoint Energy crews are working diligently and around-the-clock to both restore service and ensure affected neighborhoods are made safe. Crews are working with all available parties to consider both temporary and permanent solutions to restore service to our customers as quickly as possible.
Extensive damage has occurred throughout the CenterPoint Energy service territory in southwestern Indiana, including multiple downed power lines, poles, trees and tree limbs. The type of repair work needed to restore service in these situations is longer than normal given the need to cut and remove trees, install new poles and run new lines.
Unfortunately, CenterPoint Energy cannot provide exact details and timelines on when your service will be restored. To view a map of current outages, visit our current outage map at https://www.midwest.centerpointenergy.com/outage/current.
