      Over the past decade I have asked ScanCafe to help me digitize various important photos, films and slides. ScanCafe has never failed to provide a very satisfying result. Are the results always perfect? No, but it has never been Scan Cafe's fault. The slide or the picture I provided was so damaged that even using their best restoration efforts could only bring the visual memory back so far. That being said, their best restoration efforts did make every slide and photograph better than I had seen them in years. The contrast was improved, the colors are crisper yet still true and the people are wonderfully full of the life I remember in those moments when the images were originally created. I am pleased to endorse ScanCafe as a great source for preservation and recommend you consider using their services as I have. I will continue to use ScanCafe as my time goes by and until I am dust inn the wind.

      Scan Cafe has done a great job with my very old photos for my family history project. A couple of photos weren't to my liking, but when I called customer service they happily re-scanned and corrected imperfections that were on the old photo, like scratches, bent photos, etc. I was very happy with their customer service and help they gave me.

      They should change their name to scamcafe. After you download your images, you find they have charged you an extra $9 something for storage and you are now subscribed to monthly storage without this ever being mentioned. Why would I pay for storage when I have the download in hand? I contacted them about the extra charge, was promised a response, and so far, a week with nothing forthcoming.

      I'm well satisfied with ScanCafe. I've sent old movie film, slides and prints. Of course, new prints are the best and old family photos come in second. Movies are converted accurately, it's just the camera persons skills that are short and that can't be changed once the movie has been taken. Slides were at first confusing. They have lots of dark spots. The spots are the emulsion that is used to color the slides and it dries out and can ***** off over time. Thus my 15 year old slides have some spots and the 20 year old ones have lots more. It's my call to either have ScanCafe restore them as they go (It' extra) or since I have a software program that can do it, I just restore them my self. The pixel rates are good and the restorations have worked out well. If you're expecting 'like new', you'll be disappointed. If you're hoping for near exact reproductions of what you send, you'll be pleasantly surprised. I'm prepping my next shipment and I tend to sent ******* items at a time. They are always timely and tell you up front how long it will take.

      They gave me miserable service. Their scans came out crooked. They said that my photos were crooked which they weren't. We never resolved this. Also, their scans had smudges and other issues that they had to go back several times to correct. I also wish I had checked here before ordering.

      Unlike other scan services where you can fill a box with as many photos or slides as will fit I found out the hard way ScanCafe limits a value box to **** images and my bill was over three times what I expected. Plus efforts to cancel the order were ignored. The * review is well justified. Wish I had checked this site before using them.
