This company towed a vehicle that was legally able to drive on the road legal tags until 2025 August and they will not work with us will not speak with us and are in the process of selling the vehicle without having any ability to get it they were told by the landowner it was legal and a police officer that it was legal and the tags don't just fall off meaning they were told by police officers that it was taken off. They stole a car and refused to work with us.Business Response

Thank you for your complaint, I am happy to explain once again why the vehicle was towed. The plate displays expired in 2021, as proven by Date/Time/GPS stamped photos taken at the request of the trailer court where the vehicle was parked. A notice was given for 1 week to correct the issue. When the issue was not resolved the vehicle was towed. The plate was not corrected and the notice was still located on the driver side window as proven by Date/Time/GPS stamped photos. We are hired by the trailer court to provide towing service. This has been explained to both your daughter and yourself. You both have been given release requirements several times, you will have to come and provide ID that matches either title or current registration and pay all fees associated with the tow/storage to recover the vehicle. Your daughter was provided a POA form that would be required to release the vehicle and/or any belongings on your behalf so you do not have to make the trip from 2 hours away. I think it has been proven that nothing we say or provide will appease you, and no resolution will be offered to you other than you coming to recover the vehicle from impound and pay all fees associated with the tow. You attempted to report the vehicle stolen and were unsuccessful as we were informed by PD of your attempt. All laws governing private property towing were followed by our staff and you were given ample notice before the truck was ever towed. You are welcome to come recover the vehicle and/or belongings during business hours with government issued photo ID. After listening to the recorded calls associated with this case, that does not seem to be your interest and you prefer to argue and threaten us with litigation, which is your right. You have until May 24th, 2025 @ 9:00am to recover the vehicle, otherwise it will be crushed for scrap. You can call ************ if you are ready to recover the vehicle for an updated total balance. Have a great day.Customer Answer

JA towing towed my car from a reserved spot (not my reserved spot) at 2:14 am on Sunday April 12th. I noticed at 3am that it was gone.I called JA towing at 3:28 am to let them know I was on the way to get my car and would pay the fee required. The employee refused to let me get the car until Monday at 9am. I told the employee that my house keys and person affects were in the car so I had no way to get into my house until I got the car. I requested to have an employee get, At minimum, my house keys out of the car so I could get into my house. The employee refused to help and said the best he could do was have his boss call me later in the morning. He would not allow me to get anything out of my car, even when I offered for him to get items out of the car. By 10 am, later in the day, I still had not heard from the boss so we called again. I was still refused to get my personal items out of the car and was not allowed to do anything until 9:30 on Monday April 14th. When I arrived they would only accept cash payments, and I was not allowed a receipt. They took a photo of my ID on their personal cell phone and I was charged $395. When that was questioned they told me $150 of the charge was so they could ensure it was not a stolen car. I was not told of any system being used so it appeared to be just one of the employees checking my registration. With these numbers considered this means they charged me $245 for towing my car. The state of ******* has an ordinance stating there is a $150 maximum on all non-consensual tows. I was over charged by a minimum of $95 and potentially over charged for a $150 security check that did not take place.Business Response

Hello *****, thanks for bringing your concerns to us. After reviewing the documentation on this case I have some further clarification for you. In reference to the tow itself, I attached a receipt and photo of the violation resulting in the tow. I reviewed the video footage/recording for your interaction with our staff and at no point was a receipt requested. I am happy to provide that for you here or if you have issues viewing I can submit directly to your email. The charges you are disputing are compliant with Indiana law and have been cleared by our attorney. Sadly the pricing cap that you are referring to is limited to a specific municipality (************) and is not applicable to the entire state nor your situation. You were charged $275 for the "Towing" portion of the invoice, and $120 for the administrative side. The admin side does include a national theft check, national and state level registration/title search, and of course our staffs time to complete these items and be available during required hours (Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm) for releases. I apologize that your keys were left in the vehicle, however, we only are able to release belongings during business hours unless exigent circumstances exist. I assume some of the confusion might be related to the phone conversation your husband had with our staff, as it is hard to explain anything or answer questions while being yelled at. I understand that you were also concerned with a personal phone being used for the release documents/ID scan. Our staff are issued company cell phones for this reason (payments and company activity only) and on top of that they utilize a third party software (Towbook/ADD123) to complete all dispatches, releases, documentation, inspections & ownership inquires. Our staff records each step of the process for every vehicle we come in contact with. I am sorry to hear that you feel wronged by these checks/balances but sadly I have to further resolution to offer.Initial Complaint

I live in the summit of Ridgewood apartments me and my boyfriend at the time filed a complaint with the better Business bureau because the apartment complex was committing fraud against us we had contacted the apartment complex about a week they sent out Mr ****** when he got to the to the home my boyfriend told him that his services was not needed and he never stepped foot in the house but they still charged us over $200 after the better Business bureau contacted them they reimbursed us our money then the apartment complex retaliated by not letting me downgrade to a cheaper apartment they stated that I needed 12 months of on time payment but I have never been late then the apartment complex maliciously filed false claims threatening me that they were going to evict then they breached a contract by making me pay for internet services without providing the internet box that's $80 a month. My daughter has cerebral palsy but I haven't received the handicap sticker yet I parked in the handicap spot in the apartment complex conspired with ja towing company and had my vehicle towed without giving me notice. *** towing extorted me by charging me excessive towing fees of $390 which is over the Indiana legal amount they held my car for ****** until I paid it they also drug my vehicle and at this point I do not know what the damages areBusiness Response

We have nothing to do with your issues with the office. Our only concern is taking care of our client to address their towing needs. This vehicle was illegally parked in a handicap space without a plate or placard displayed. The vehicle was not towed without warning, according to the law the sign is the warning. The vehicle was towed as the driver was already hooked up before being confronted. A drop fee was offered but it was refused by both individuals several times. Both subjects on video admitted that they don't have a placard. The entire removal process is on video. Your damage claim is frivolous, as your vehicle was towed in a more than appropriate manner. The registered owner came and recovered the vehicle the next day after fees were paid. All fees are compliant with Indiana law and once payment and proof of ownership was confirmed the vehicle was released. We file invoices with the state every week for disposal papers to be issued, they know what we charge. Threats to our staff and their minor children on social media will never be tolerated and were reported to the police at that time. That behavior is unacceptable under any circumstance. Upon investigating several past failed lawsuits, warrants, pending criminal charges, we are not shocked there is no accountability on your end. Our staff and their families will not be threatened by a violent felon for doing their job. The next night the vehicle was removed again from the same space without a plate or placard displayed as required. The entire removal process was video recorded with zero damage to the vehicle. FWPD came out and assisted with the vehicles removal. The registered owner was more than welcome to come in during business hours on Monday (as we were closed for the holiday) to recover the vehicle. This complaint shows us that there is a lack of understanding on your behalf of the laws governing private property rights, handicap parking, and private property towing.Initial Complaint

JA towing is/was in the possession of my sons 2016 jeep renegade (blue) that was towed to them by a private agency around July 21st after my son was arrested. We have been trying to get it back but had been told multiple different things. Was told had to switch registration to my name or get POA. Called another time and was told POA doesnt work and had to have registration match the ** of the person getting it. The problem is the owner of the vehicle is incarcerated and the registration is in the car so that option is impossible. They would not let us get the registration or belongings out of the vehicle. I called on 9/23/24 as we finally got a POA and wanted to know cost to get it out. Was told the vehicle was no longer there, said it had been crushed. They reported they went to the court to get possession of vehicle and it was granted and they crushed it last week for scrap metal, also reported all the belongings were crushed with the vehicle and went to the scrap yard. Could not give an exact date when asked just said last week. I called on 9/27 and asked for copies of any documentation they had that should they went to court, got approval and the vehicle was crushed. Was told they dont have any documentation. Reported all they have was were the certificate letter was sent. Asked where the letter was sent to. Was told she would find out and put me on hold for almost ten minutes and she says we do not know where it was sent to. Reported they have an outside agency do their mailing and they tell them when they can take the car. I explained we never received the letter. She claimed if no one is there, the letter gets sent back to sender and they still proceed. Explained we have cameras and no one ever attempted to deliver a letter. Initially could not find business location on ******. Called and asked address would not give address. Its just sketchy they cant provide any documentation of what they are saying to be true. Was told by police to fill with BBBBusiness Response

Hello Customer. Thanks for your input.
Let me throw out a few facts about this vehicle for you, as sadly for your son the vehicle is no longer legally owned by him.
This vehicle was impounded by security after your son was arrested on their property and the vehicle left abandoned. You called several weeks later and release requirements were outlined to you. You told us that you would not be able to meet those requirements so no appointment was offered.
You called once again after two more weeks trying to get belongings released, however you still could not provide proper documentation. You mention a police release, but they were not the ones who impounded the vehicle and thus do not have a hold on it.
The state of Indiana issued a certificate of disposal for this vehicle after all steps were taken as required by Indiana Law. This includes newspaper ads, certified mailings, etc which we do in fact use a third party for. They provided all documentation to the state, otherwise we would not have gotten the green light for disposal.
In reference to not giving you our address over the phone, we will happily provide it if making an appointment which you refused. If you show up in person without an appointment, you will not be seen. It will not change the fact that we no longer have the vehicle and that you failed to recover it with the proper paperwork during the time allotted as required by state law.
There is nothing more for us to provide for you at this point in time. We wish you the best going forward.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
Just explained the same thing I am already aware of. Not providing any proof of documentation that the appropriate steps were followed. Cant provide the address the certificated letter was sent to because I never received one or one was never attempted to my house. According to them the vehicle was crushed prior to them having it even 60 days which I have been advised by legal typically doesnt happen that quick following the correct legal steps. All I am asking for is documentation of the correct legal steps they completedBusiness Response

Ma'am the State of Indiana obviously agreed we completed everything required by law if they granted us a certificate of disposal on this vehicle. The vehicle was taken in for scrap 62 days after it was towed. You did not attempt to schedule a release with a POA until after the vehicle was already scrapped. We have nothing to provide to you and cannot change the situation for you. I apologize you are unhappy with it.Initial Complaint

Hello. I have several facts of the situation to share.
This vehicle was illegally parked in a driveway that does not belong to you. The manager of this property called to have the vehicle removed as a result. Sadly for the owner of the vehicle, it is a legal tow as it is not okay to trespass on property that you do not own.
In reference to dragging the vehicle, yes, the vehicle was slid a few feet to allow access to the front so it can be towed in the correct manner. This maneuver resulted in zero damage to the vehicle and is no different than how a rollback style tow truck would load this vehicle. The drag/skid marks you are referencing are already on the pavement as clearly seen in photos taken by the manager.
In reference to you not being able to recover your vehicle that next day, the initial phone call was at 8am and you spoke with an on-call driver who does not handle impounds/releases. He advised you to call back after 9am when the office opens for all release information. Another phone call took place approx. 930am where all of this information was provided to you, in addition to pricing and fee schedule if not picked up. ********** hours were clearly outlined on the call. You failing to bring the registered owner to recover the vehicle during business hours on the first day is not our fault in any way. Any storage fees accrued due to this are your responsibility.
In reference to the foul language on the phone, my staff will not be treated poorly nor threatened. The male who kept calling about this vehicle and speaking with our driver, once again outside of office hours, was extremely hostile towards my staff and it will not be tolerated.
In conclusion, my staff followed their policies and procedures, explained what requirements were needed to release the vehicle from our lot, and tolerated abuse/threats in the process.
