    Our family recently had a terrible experience with a handyman named *************************** owner of Because ***********, who we believe is running a scam. We found ****************** through **** Appliance Repair in ******** who referred him to us to repair our dishwasher. At first, we were pleased with his work and saw some good reviews about him on Nextdoor, so we decided to hire him for additional work. We have now found several complaints of him doing this to others on the Nextdoor site.During the conversation, ****************** told us that he was also a contractor and offered to build a deck for our pool and fix our ceiling. He gave us a quote of around $2,400 and asked for $850 upfront for materials, which we wrote him a check for. He promised to start the project on May 1st, but he has yet to show up.We contacted ****************** repeatedly, but he kept giving us excuses and never started the project. When we requested a refund, he refused to return our money. We were shocked to discover that he had cashed our check at Ace Cash Express on ******* Street in ************, which made ** even more suspicious of his intentions.We attempted to contact ****************** via text message, but he responded by saying that we should never have trusted him. We believe we've been scammed and are now out of pocket for $850. We've reported ********************** behavior to the Better Business Bureau
