    I am filing a complaint against Spring Valley Funeral Home and it's Funeral Director ******* ******** for trying to defraud me out of the money leftover from the insurance policy. My father died on October 23, 2023. He requested to me and to Hosparus that his body be taken to Spring Valley Funeral Home upon his death. On October 25, 2023 around 1 pm., myself, my brother, my oldest son and his girlfriend met with ******* ******** at Spring Valley Funeral Home Louisville location on 719 East Chestnut Street. My Dad's request was to be cremated. I had previously looked up the cost of the cremation package which was $3900 and change. I presented the insurance policy to ******* ********. I was the sole beneficiary. The policy was worth $8,503.47. ******* told me if I filed the claim with the insurance company it would take at least a month and I would have to fill out 10 or 11 pages of paperwork. ******* ******** said his people could fill the claim and any paperwork for $800. He told me I would be receiving back $3900 and change in about 72 hours. We agreed that my dad would be cremated but no funeral service just a body veiwing of two hours to take place on November 2, 2023 on East Chestnut Street. I have never received any copies of anything I signed or any paperwork showing the costs of the services from ******* ********. I have requested several times with the answer, "I'll get it to you". I contacted ******* the first week of November and to ask about the insurance money and was told he will check into it and get back to you. I've called many times and was told that every time. I had my son ask him and my cousin. He told them, he's waiting on the insurance company, he's waiting for the death certificate and recently, the lady who writes the checks isn't in the office today. Just excuse after excuse. He told the insurance company the fee for his services was $8,503.47 which they sent to him November 2. The real cost was 3900 plus the 800 fee to file the claim.

    Complaint Against: ******* ******** and Spring Valley Funeral Home & Cremation 

     

    On December 5, 2023, I filed a complaint against ******* ******** for refusing to pay me the money owed from an insurance policy. On December 7, 2023, someone left an envelope in my front door that contained a check for approximately the amount I was owed. I'm assuming the check was from ******* ********, since we have had no form  of communication.  Another part of my complaint was wanting to receive any paperwork showing dealings between myself and Spring Valley Funeral Home & Cremation. I still have not received any paperwork from them. However,  at this point I don't desire to have any further communication with ******* ******** ever again. Thank you for your help because I believe it made a difference in resolving this matter promptly.
